Father of late dancehall artiste and posthumously crowned Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year Ebony has slammed critics for saying he sacrificed his daughter for rituals.
In an interview with Accra-based Onua 95.1 FM’s Emmanuel Agyemang on Anigye Mmre, Nana Opoku Kwarteng stated that he is a Christian and a member of Assemblies of God Church and cannot do such a thing.
“How can I be responsible for Ebony’s death? Am I God? Nobody will have a daughter like [Ebony] and will be responsible for her death,” he stated.
The father of the celebrated songstress also responded to his choice of coffin for her burial.
According to him, his decision to select a black coffin has no spiritual connotations.
The black coffin looks so nice, he said. That is why he chose it.
He also denied reports that he is an occultist.
The late dancehall artiste born Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng was named the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ Artiste of the Year 2018.

Vanguard gathered that Senator Melaye was this morning, taken to the SARS detention facility located just opposite the old Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN junction along the Area 1 expressway.
The SARS detention facility is reputed for imprisoning hardened criminals arrested for theft, murder, cultism and other criminal acts.
It was gathered that the Nigeria Police Force forcefully carried out the arrest of Melaye without arrest warrant or court order.
In a telephone conversation this morning, Senator Mekaye however sounded rattled, as background conversation suggested a struggle between himself and some of the operatives after which his mobile lines were switched off.
Recall that initial attempts were made by the police to arrest Senator Melaye after immigration officials disembarked him from a flight to Morocco on Monday morning.
Following his release after three hours detention at the immigration office at the airport, the lawmaker’s house was besieged by over 80 armed police men from noon yesterday until the early hours of Tuesday.

Actor John Dumelo and TV Presenter Berla Mundi have been commended for their remarkable roles as MCs at the 19th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
However, President of the Creative Arts Council of Ghana, Mark Okraku-Mantey disagrees.
The music producer believes that the two were abysmal on the night as compared to previous hosts of the event.
Assessing the 2018 edition of the Ghana Music Awards on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Naa Ashorkor on Saturday, Mark Okraku Mantey stated that John Dumelo’s performance was woeful.
“He was lost. If this is our standard for emceeing and we think it is good enough then we are prehistoric,” he said.
“Producing dry jokes, now dancing, some funny moves, not tickling anyone,” Mark Okraku-Mantey continued.
The President of the Creative Arts Council is of the view that the selected MCs for this year’s event were not at par with previous hosts.
He cited KKD, Kwame Sefa Kayi, Naa Ashorkor, Bola Ray, George Quaye and Chris Attoh as previous MCs who performed creditably well and questioned if the performance of Berla Mundi and John Dumelo was ‘okay’.
Mark Okraku-Mantey went further to express his disappointment with the choice of Berla Mundi as the lead host.
He stated that the TV presenter should have been a supporting MC and not the lead.
Public Relations Officer for Charter House, George Quaye, who was present during the discussion on Joy FM jumped to the defence of the two.
George Quaye stressed that Berla Mundi had proven herself as an event MC with her performance on Miss Malaika and the Red Carpet of the VGMAs.
The PRO also commended John Dumelo for his delivery and stressed that the actor was not a ‘renowned MC’ but was selected to ‘create a nice pair’ for Berla Mundi.

The United Kingdom has promised to provide kits on counter improvised explosive device (IED) worth one million pounds to boost the fight against insurgency.

The United Kingdom’s Minister of Armed Forces, Mark Lancaster, revealed this when he met with Nigeria’s Defence Minister, Mansur Dan-Ali, in London on the sidelines of the concluded Commonwealth meeting.
The gift is part of the collaboration between the two nations to combat terrorism.
“It’s in both the UK and Nigeria’s interest that we tackle the issue of terrorism in Nigeria,” Lancaster said.
Both men are hopeful that the kit would be helpful in foiling bomb attack by Boko Haram on innocent Nigerians.
The Defence Minister said talks were held about terrorism, training of the Nigerian military and other global security issues.
Apart from security issues, Nigeria is also said to be receiving positive responses from prospective investors regarding doing business in Nigeria.
Nigeria’s Ambassador to the UK, George Oguntade, said that the recent feedback from investors were encouraging.
The Ambassador also said the process of obtaining Nigerian Visa has been made more effective.
He said visas could now be processed in only a matter of days as the delays that characterised the process in the past have been eliminated.
Oguntade said: “We had a list of applicants that ran into thousands and that created a bad feeling between applicants for passports and the High Commission.
“So much so that they were almost throwing stones at us here.
“But we immediately took control of the problems, ascertained what the problems were and set to work to eliminate them and thank God we have succeeded.”

We brought you the report on the mysterious death of two brothers inside a deep freezer in Akure, Ondo State capital, last week.
The deaths of the siblings have become a mystery to not only the residents in the area, but to the police also, who are still carrying out investigations to unravel the cause of their demise.

Some residents, however, believed that the death of the two brothers and primary school pupils, Olufemitan Olaitan, 9, and Oluwafifunmi Olaitan, 7, was suspicious. They argued that the freezer was not a giant size and that, with their ages, they should have been able to open the door of the freezer if it actually mistakenly closed on them

The deceased brothers, according to findings, had been locked inside the house by their mother, Olubunmi, who went to the market to buy foodstuff on Monday at about 3pm.
A family source said the mother, on getting back home, initially could not find the boys and she became worried.
She was said to have searched all the rooms and still could not find the boys only to raise the alarm which attracted neighbours and a search party was organised.
Nobody in the search party thought the boys could be inside the faulty deep freezer kept at a corner in the house.
It learnt that after it was discovered that the door was not tampered with when their mother returned from market, one of the neighbours reportedly opened the freezer only to discover the boys inside, dead.
The siblings were removed and taken to hospital with the hope that they could still be revived.
A police source said the boys may have been playing inside the freezer and its door shut against them and that, because of the weight of the door, the boys could not free themselves.
The source added that if their mother or anybody was at home, the cries of the deceased would have attracted her/him and they would have been saved.
Sunday Vanguard learnt that the boys, after struggling to free themselves, may have died as a result of suffocation inside the freezer.
However, another police source alleged that the kids might have been murdered before they were dumped inside the freezer by their assailant.
The source said that the assailant may have dumped their lifeless bodies inside the freezer to give an impression that they suffocated after being trapped inside the fridge.
According to the source, the two boys, with their ages, should have been able to force the freezer open if actually it mistakenly closed up on them.
Also, he said that the freezer was a small one that could be easily opened by the boys if they were actually playing inside the freezer as suspected.
But the same source hinted that the door of the flat was intact when the mother of the deceased boys arrived from the market. However, he added that investigation into the death of the minors was still in progress and that all avenues would be explored to unravel the mystery behind their death. The source said, “Anything can still come up during our investigation. Don’t be surprised if we come up with something fresh in the course of our investigation”. He added that autopsy will bring to the open the cause of the death of the two brothers. “All we have been told was that the boys were left alone in the house and that when their mother returned they were found inside a freezer that had not been working for over a year”, the source stated.
“How they got inside the freezer is unknown. We are only suspecting that they may be playing inside and the door of the freezer closed on them and in the process they were suffocated”. It was gathered that when the boys were discovered inside the freezer, one of them had blood in his mouth while the other was alleged to have defecated on himself.
The parents reportedly buried the boys last Wednesday.
Contacted, Ondo State police spokesperson, Femi Joseph, said no arrest had been made as nobody was suspected to have murdered the boys.
Joseph said that the father of the boys, Olusegun Olaitan, reported the matter at a police station.
He described the death of the two minors as sad and unfortunate.
“There was no trace that the boys were killed and so far we have not made any arrest on the matter”, the spokesperson said.
“We did not suspect foul play because it appeared as if the kids were playing inside the deep freezer and the door locked on them when there was nobody at home to help them open the door. It is really a sad and unfortunate incident”.

A 25-year-old man, Opeyemi Dada, who allegedly stole a Vivo cell phone, valued at N7,000, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.
Dada, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 28, at Artisti Company, Mupin, Ota.
Gbesi said that the accused stole the phone belonging to the complainant, Mr Taiwo Oluwapelumi.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 413 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun, 2006.
The accused, however, denied committing the offences, while Senior Magistrate G. E. Akan, granted him bail in the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until April 23 for mention.

Tamale based hiplife artiste, Ahjmed Mujahid Bello, popularly known as Fancy Gadam has lashed out at Patapaa for saying he didn’t deserve the Song of the Year award he received at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) held over the weekend.

He said organizers of the awards should not have nominated him if they knew he was not going to win, adding that his song was obviously the most popular song in the year under review and Fancy Gadam did not deserve it.
He also alleged that Fancy Gadam only won the award because he paid organizers of the awards, Charterhouse Productions.
But in an interview on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, Fancy Gadam said in pidgin, “if I win and you no feel, massa go hang yourself”.
He told host Daniel Dadzie that the allegation was baseless. “Total lies,” he said, adding that his song would not have been nominated if it wasn’t a contender in the category.
He also found it absurd that Patapaa thought he was the only person who could have won the award when he was not more popular than the other nominees.
Patapaa’s anger, for Fancy Gadam, is needless. He advised the artiste to move beyond this year because “if this year is Fancy Gadam’s year, next year can be your year, so you for no vex.”

Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale and his mistress, Michy, have been accusing each other of assault since yesterday.

In a Facebook post, Shatta Wale alleged that Michy chased had him with a knife.

“When a woman chase you with a Knife. DAWG AM …..!!!!!! Boys be wise ….Am done … The wise will understand!!!!!!!!”

In other post, he noted that whenever he had a problem with Shatta Mitchy, she would feign an accident by cutting herself with sharp objects just to create the impression that he is the bad person.

He added that Shatta Michy slapped him in the presence of her mother.

ToriBaze GH media understands that Patapaa Amisty left the AICC after losing an award to Fancy Gadam.

His song, ‘One Corner’, was no match for Fancy Gadam’s ‘Total Cheat’, which featured Sarkodie Rising Ghanaian musician, Patapaa Amisty, has been captured in a video, leaving the Accra International Conference Centre, during the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). The event, which took place on Saturday, April 14, 2018, and was co-hosted by John Dumelo and Berla Mundi attracted people from all over the country.

A few of the memorable highlights of the night included epic performances by Sarkodie and Samini, both of whom walked away with awards.

While Samini grabbed the Reggae Dancehall song of the Year, with ‘My Own’, Sarkodie was crowned the king of hiphop/hiplife. He also won the best rapper of the year award. In the course of the event, the Song of The Year Award was given to Fancy Gadam, for his song, ‘Total Cheat’, which was in collaboration with Sarkodie. This did not go down well with the ‘One Corner’ and his team, who consequently left the premises of the conference centre.

Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara, has offered N5million to anyone who provides information that will lead to the arrest of those involved in the robbery attack in Offa on Thursday, in which about 30 people were killed.

This is contained in a statement by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr Muyideen Akorede.
The governor called on anyone with useful information on the incident to contact the state police command on the following numbers (0803 739 1280 and 0803 702 4320).
“While we mourn our dead with a heart full of sadness, and care for the injured by paying all their medical bills.
“We will do everything in our power to bring the attackers to justice, and ensure that never again does any community or people in our state experience such tragedy”, Gov. Ahmed said.
Gov. Ahmed assured such informants of anonymity, confidentiality and safety, as no harm will befall them on account of assisting the security agencies to arrest the attackers.
He said the police and other security agencies in the country have begun a vigorous manhunt for the perpetrators of the dastardly and wicked attack on Offa community.(NAN)
