Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr’s attempt to lure highly rated Hertha-Berlin central defender, Jordan Torunarigha to star for the national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup may be a fruitless effort.

Nigeria Football Federation, NFF officials have made contact with the Torunarigha who has already played for the German U21 team, but the German Football Association  is ready to block any move to have the player switch nationality as they see a role for him in future German senior team. Germany U21s manager Stefan Kuntz and Hertha Berlin coach Pal Dardai have told the youngster not to accept the invitation to play for Nigeria.
‘’Jordan is a top player, who absolutely convinced me. He has a great left foot and his development is far from over. I did not nominate him for nothing again,’’ said Kuntz, who invited Torunarigha for the upcoming games against Israel and Kosovo, to German newspaper B.Z.
Pal Dardai is on the same page as Kuntz, and said : ‘’The World Cup is certainly a great opportunity for him.
‘’But maybe it is better for the development, if he goes through the U21 at the DFB. Maybe then it works with the German national team.’’
The player whose father Ojokojo Torunarigha had previously hinted that his son will not play for Nigeria, but with the tempting offer of playing at the World Cup is quite a pull for the young player.
Torunarigha’s adviser Tomas Zorn says his client is honored to be approached by the Nigerian Federation but has not entirely ruled out the possibility of representing German youth teams.
‘’That’s true. We have such a request from the NFF,” Zorn said to German newspaper B.Z.
“Jordan must listen to his heart. This request is a huge honour, and also a confirmation for his great development. But I think his journey for the German FA is not over.”

Ebony’s manager, Ricky Osei Agyeman also known as Bullet has confessed that the songstress’ demise has crushed his managerial dreams.
After Ebony’s unfortunate death, Bullet told host Andy Dosty that he doesn’t see himself writing or producing any song for any artiste in the entertainment industry again.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM Friday, Bullet explained that he still can’t believe Ebony had departed from earth after all the plans to push her brand onto the international market.
He said: “I don’t know my plans right now because it’s very sad and painful to loose someone like her. I don’t have plans for music yet. It’s not easy to invest time and money and lose such a friend. You can even forget about the money…”
Asked what his plans are after Ebony, Bullet said ‘it’s very hard to say what I am going to do. Trust me, I’m lost. I don’t have any plans yet. It’s a very big blow to me and I know God is on our side…’ he said.
The late singer, Ebony, met her untimely death in a February 8 car crush on the Kumasi–Sunyani road.
Her final funeral rights have been slated for Saturday March 24 at the forecourt of the State House.

THE Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has unveiled a television show for the less privileged in the society especially school children, to broaden their horizon in learning.
Addressing journalists at the press conference to announce the TV show, Deputy Chief Convener of Hope Alive Initiatives, one of Ooni’s initiatives aimed at bridging the gap created by poverty in the society, Miss Temitope Adesegun said the show is an advocacy programme called HAI TV show, first of its kind and solely dedicated to the underprivileged in the society.
She said: “It is going to be a TV show where any non- governmental organisation can bring any problem or solution, their activities, challenges or whatever they are doing in their NGO which can now be showcased on a laudable platform where everyone can see and embrace.”

According to her, the programme will be all- encompassing, adding that the Ooni has a dream for an average child who is just locked up in the four walls of a classroom, to take such a child to different parts of the country to know what is going on there.
”It is all-encompassing, we are not segregating – may be the adult, widow, children – it’s all-encompassing, as long as you are tagged an under-privileged; either educationally you are not able to go to school, or financially you are not able to meet your daily responsibilities or you are not able to achieve your desires on a daily basis due to lack of funds, then we are here for you,” she said.
The Hope Alive Initiatives convener explained that Nigerians have come to the realisation that non- governmental organisations are fast becoming the pillars on which the marginalised in the society rely on but regrettably, most of them are still facing difficulties in achieving the aim and fulfilling the mission on which they primarily embarked on.
She said in few months, the organisation has done a lot having visited the IDP camp in Abuja with a population of 5,470   and provided books, school bags, stationeries, drugs for their hospitals as well as erecting a borehole to provide potable water for the community.
She said: ”The simplest way to describe an underprivileged person is someone who cannot comfortably eat three square meals per day, can’t afford the minimum living standard which is equated to a dollar per day. Someone that lives below that standard on a daily basis is considered as underprivileged.”
Responding, the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi it is the wish of every dreamer to have his/her wish become a reality adding that he marvels at the immeasurable success by his pet project, Hopes Alive Initiatives within a short period of time adding that he has innate passion to give hope to the hopeless.

Residents of Peace Estate in Baruwa area of Ipaja, were thrown into panic yesterday, following the explosion of a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC’s pipeline, which resulted in fire.

But for the swift response of men of the Lagos State Fire Service and other rescue operators, the fire would have spread to buildings close by.
There were different versions as to how the explosion occurred. A version had it that there had been a leakage in one of the pipelines, which spilled petro-leum product into farmlands.
When farmers set the bush on fire in preparation for the new planting season, the explosion occurred.
Another version had it that some persons were scooping the spilled product when one of them threw a stick of cigarette away.
When the state’s Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, arrived the scene, he said: “I can see constructions close to the pipeline’s right of way. Perhaps people carry out these constructions without knowledge of the implication.”
