CelebritiesShatta Wale Fans On My Neck – South African Musician by ToriBaze(op): 9:37pm On Mar 28, 2018
South African recording artiste and record producer, Refiloe Maele Phoolo popularly known as Cassper Nyovest, says fans of Ghanaian Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, are threatening him for claiming he hasn’t heard of him.
The rapper in an earlier interview described Stonebwoy as the best Dancehall artiste in Africa.
Asked whether he has heard of Shatta Wale, Nyovest answered “[he] is trouble,” adding “I have read a lot about him…but I don’t know his music yet but everybody says it is lit.”
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Cassper urged the fans of Shatta Wale to calm down since he didn’t intend to jab him as the news articles portrayed with regards to headlines.
He told Andy Dosty that he would love to collaborate with Shatta saying, “a lot of talk about Shatta Wale as well apparently he is huge and its dope to work the numbers. If I have to work it out here then I want to mention his name. Apparently he stirs things and his fans were going at me the whole time and that was lit…” he said.

CelebritiesI Sold ‘okpa’ For 10 Years And It Was My Daily Meal – Frank Edwards by ToriBaze(op): 12:57pm On Mar 24, 2018
Popular Nigerian gospel singer, Frank Edwards, who is known for a series of hit gospel songs, have taken to Instagram to write an emotional note on when he used to sell the popular meal ‘Okpa’.
The singer mentioned that he sold okpa for about 10 years and it was always his breakfast and dinner everyday.

Frank Edwards has since gone far beyond poverty as he is obviously living in luxury now and at the same time having great connections within the society as well as in the gospel music scene. He has had collaborations with lots of international artistes, including top gospel singer Don Moen.

Read his note below:
You see this here it’s called okpa. My mum was making it and we were both selling it , this was my breakfast and dinner everyday… The process of making it was ridiculous.. my mom used fire wood and I was the one fanning the fire because kerosene was luxury.

So I had smoke entering my eyes 5 hours everyday for over 10 years except Sundays, my eyes were always Red until it became permanent then I started having eye problem cus I was always rubbing my eyes with dirty hands trying to clear the smoke..

Cus I didn’t understand why my vision was blurred ,, my mum had same issue too with her eyes,, regardless we still hit the road to sell.
BUT GUESS WHAT THAT WAS WHEN I DEVELOPED A STRONG & NATURAL BUSINESS MINDSET, I KNEW A LOT ABOUT MONEY EARLY , I KNEW HOW TO CONVINCE PEOPLE TO BUY, I KNEW THAT SMOKE IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO STOP ME, I KNEW THE ONES THAT BUY ON CREDIT AND NEVER PAY SO I ONLY GO TO THEM WHEN THE MARKET IS SO BAD .. BECAUSE ITS BETTER TO SELL ON CREDIT THAN TO HAVE IT SPOIL.. WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH TODAY IS TRAINING , THOUGH IT MAY LOOK LIKE SUFFERING BUT ITS TRAINING , DONT LOOK FOR EASY WAY OUT , GO THROUGH IT AND COME OUT TOUGHER!!!

though today I have permanent red eyes to the point when some ppl see me they ask “Do you smoke” I’m like God forbid!

sometimes it hurts , most times I laugh because I’m like. . “ IF ONLY YOU KNOW “ but how ever I am a happy man and I have enough pages in my book of testimony to encourage my children. GO THROUGH IT AND ADD PAGES TO YOUR TESTIMONY BOOK! BECAUSE YOUR BLESSING IS READY WAITIN[...]

TV/Movies2 Nollywood Films To Showcase In Hollywood On Friday by ToriBaze(op): 10:38am On Mar 22, 2018
Nollywood films – 93 DAYS, THE BRIDGE and ISOKEN – would showcase in Hollywood, California, starting on Friday, in what would be the first collaboration between Nollywood and Hollywood.
This is the first time that the foremost film programme in the world and the most historic of all of Hollywood’s cinema houses are teaming up to bring a film series from Africa to Hollywood.

Nigeria joined a select list of seven countries from around the world to be part of the prestigious national screening series, according to the organisers.
The inaugural ‘NOLLYWOOD IN HOLLYWOOD’ event would hold at the world famous Egyptian Theater in Hollywood with a red-carpet on Friday night, which would feature the screening of 93 DAYS.
It would be a question and answer series moderated by the Chairman of the African-American wing of the Directors Guild of America and an open air, post-screening Nigerian party on the historic Hollywood Boulevard.
Also screening, on Saturday, are THE BRIDGE by Kunle Afolayan and ISOKEN by Jade Osiberu.
Afolayan, Steve Gukas of 93 DAYS and Dakore Akande of ISOKEN would be the ambassadors of Nollywood at the event.
The event would be co-presented by the giants of the Hollywood film industry, the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California and The Grauman Egyptian Theatre.
Also, O2A Media, Inc., the production company of Nigerian-American filmmaker, Ose Oyamendan, would be the other co-presenter.
In attendance would be top Hollywood film directors and actors, producers, distributors and faculty of the topmost film programme in the world, the school of cinematic arts at the University of Southern California.
Also in attendance would be celebrities, Nigerian-born actors and filmmakers in Hollywood and Consul-Generals of some of African Embassies in Los Angeles.
A video by Afolayan posted on Tuesday night about the event is one of the top trending videos on social media this week.
Maceo Willis, the operations director for the event, described the historic event as “a miracle”.
“It’s a miracle as miracles go. No one would have thought University of Southern California and The Egyptian would be interested in putting Nollywood on showcase.
“Ose – Oyamendan – made a strong case and he had the pedigree to back it up”.
Willis, however, expressed disappointments at the lack of support for the historic event by Nigeria.
“My biggest shock was that the Nigerian cultural ministry and embassy didn’t see the importance of backing an event that is the biggest showcase in African cinema history despite months of talking to them.
“Nations beg for this opportunity that can transform a country’s film and tourism industries and Nigeria almost missed out on it.
“Thankfully Air France stepped in and flew in the actors and filmmakers. Hopefully, this is the beginning of great things for Nollywood in Hollywood,”Willis said.

CelebritiesShatta Wale Can’t Even Play Live Band For 10 Minutes – Stonebwoy by ToriBaze(op): 6:56pm On Mar 21, 2018
Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale can’t claim to be a better artist than colleague Stonebwoy because he (Wale) “can’t even play live band for 10 minutes,” says the latter.
Stonebwoy told JOYS NEWS’ MzGee, Wale’s claim to have “murdered” him is untrue.
“Shatta Wale can never murder me, he’s never lyrically good like me and he knows that. I murdered him in 2010 at Labadi and won a motorbike. I sold that motorbike after some months, so he knows,” explained Stonebwoy.
“Lyrically, I’m the baddest in Africa, reggae artiste lyrically the baddest. The most internationally known so Shatta don’t yob or else when we open the stage, you know. You can’t even play live band for 10 minutes and keep on so don’t yob.”
The two artists have been going against each other – especially in the past couple of years over who is better, has a bigger following and international acclaim.
The rivalry between the two artists has extended to their fan base.
In early 2018, when Wale joined Stonebwoy as a label mate on Zylofon Music, fans wondered what would happen to the rivalry.
“Right now, you hear say people dey think; ‘so what you go do Stonebwoy?’. You see Stonebwoy, for here [Zylofon] he be my brother but for town he be my enemy.” stated Wale to his cheering fans when he was officially unveiled.

CelebritiesI Am Fighting For The Music Industry, Stonebwoy Is Selfish – Shatta Wale by ToriBaze(op): 3:15pm On Mar 21, 2018
Dancehall act, Shatta Wale, has described Stonebwoy as selfish when it comes to pushing the Ghanaian Music industry onto the international market.
The two acts have engaged in series of brawls after Stonebwoy subtly gave signs that he doesn’t want to be part of the Zylofon Music empire.
Not long ago, in an interview with Joy FM’s MzGee, Stonebwoy asserted that he was better lyricist than Shatta Wale insisting Shatta Wale can’t hide that truth.
But Shatta has taken to his Facebook page to lament over how selfish he thinks Stonebwoy is.
According to Shatta, he is fighting for a better and wealthier music industry but he could hardly see the focal point of Stonebwoy in the entertainment industry.
The post read:
“The strongMan fights for himself but The Strongest Men Fight For Others. I am fighting for A better And Wealthier Music Industry, StoneBwoy what are you fighting for? .. if not yourself .. I never claimed humble cos I know humble wont Liberate the Game. #NoMoreMercy4TheCripple…”

CelebritiesShatta Wale Praises Kwaku Bonsam Over Prophecy by ToriBaze(op): 1:54pm On Mar 21, 2018
Controversial dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah has praised popular spiritualist Nana Kwaku Bonsam following a prophecy he once gave about him.
Kwaku Bonsam on May 14th, 2016 prophesied about the success story of Dancehall act, Shatta Wale, saying the musician was destined for more recognition, particularly on the international scene.
“Why NDC and NPP are using Shatta Wale’s tracks for their campaign, ‘Mahama Paper’ for NDC and ‘I am coming like Kakai’ for NPP and do you remember I said Shatta Wale was going to get an international award” he asked in a facebook post.
Kwaku Bonsam further called on award organizers in the country to be fair in their presentations in 2017 and give Shatta Wale the due recognition.
Shatta Wale was, on March 18, 2018, honoured at the International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) in Chicago.
Shatta Wale who claims the prophecy given about him by Kwaku Bonsam has come to pass, in a facebook live video, showered praises on the spiritualist.
“Last year Kwaku Bonsam came live on facebook and made some prophecies about me, saying I will receive an award and I mean international award and here am I today. I have not gone to bribe him in order to make such prophecies. He just came out and made those prophecies.
“I want to thank him so much and may God bless him. Anyone who sees him should tell him to come for his stone because his prophecy has come true. I know anything he says is of God and that is why I believe him”, he said in the facebook post.

Ghana’s Dancehall King, Shatta Wale has said he is no more friends with poverty.
According to him, he is the richest Ghanaian musician and that cannot be taken away from him.
Shatta Wale made this known when he was talking to Accra-based radio station Peace FM on whether or not he bought the house he flaunted on social media house or it is a rented apartment.
The Dancehall artiste who has in the past told Ghanaians that he has acquired a one million dollar mansion indicated that Ghanaians can believe whatever they want because he’s grown past the stage where he has to be explaining and providing evidence for his own properties.
“You know why I started customising my number plate? It was because people who are not business minded were always saying I cannot buy the cars I use so I had to brand them in order for them to know that they are mine. But for now, I don’t have a problem because I don’t associate with people without business mentality. I’m no more friends with poverty and people who think that I can’t acquire any property are driven by poverty.”

CelebritiesNo Ghanaian Musician Can Be Compared To Wizkid – Kuami Eugene by ToriBaze(op): 3:56pm On Mar 19, 2018
Lynx Entertainment signee Eugene Marfo known as Kuami Eugene has conferred the crown on Nigerian superstar Wizkid as one of the best musicians on the African continent.
The young musician believes the success of the 27-year-old singer real name Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogu cannot be underestimated so Ghanaians should give credit where it’s due. The ‘Angela’ hitmaker speaking on Celebrity Ride With Zionfelix show on Angel TV last Saturday opined that “he’s been the first African to do a lot of things”.
He added that Wizkid has also attained unimaginable success most of his colleagues on the continent have not achieved despite their efforts to match him. According to the singer who said on the show that he wants to be bigger than the “Holla At Ur Boy” hitmaker, Wizkid staged a sold-out concert no African has ever organised not long ago.
When asked if Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, R2bees are not doing well enough to be his target, Kuami Eugene replied that they are great artistes but Wizkid is exceptionally doing well. He posited that Wizkid was at the Grammys long before many Africans.
Giving reasons why he wants to be bigger than Wizkid but not any other Ghanaian artiste, Kuami Eugene disclosed that he wants to print a good legacy in the history of Ghanaian books. To him, he sees nothing wrong with wishing good for himself as a Ghanaian artiste who wants to attain higher heights than the ‘Ojuelegba’ hitmaker.

PoliticsFrom Being A Hotel Waiter To A Special Assistant To A Governor by ToriBaze(op): 7:53pm On Mar 18, 2018
The story of Abel Ifemi, a Special Assistant to the Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State on Social media, is that of grass to grace and he left no stone unturned as he shared his inspiring story on Facebook.

According to Abel Ifemi who was once a waiter at a hotel he was receiving #19,000 as monthly salary, he got the job immediately after his NYSC programme and it was better than staying idle. He further disclosed that his expectation of getting a job was dashed, as he found himself trekking with brown envelopes.
Sharing a throw back photo of himself in his ‘waiter outfit’, the Special Assistant to the Governor of Bayelsa State, encouraged people to start off something no matter how small it is.
Here’s what he wrote; I have no work to do that is why I am committing crimes. That is the most moronic excuse any young Man can give.
After graduation in 2011 and successful completion of the NYSC in 2012,I returned back to my State with the hope of having a good Job,but as all expectations were shattered and cuts off, after trekking the whole state with my big Brown file.
My next point of action wasn’t to commit crime by becoming a petty thief, but I kept hope alive and Started as a waiter in one of the hotels in town with 19k as my Monthly take home. 19k of a truth can’t sustain me for the Month, but It was the best option I took than to remain idle at home.
The above picture was my first day in office at that time.
You certainly don’t have any excuse to be idle and become a nuisance in the Society.
Try and get something doing and be hopeful to God!
Remember; For you to start small does not mean that you can’t make it big!

Nairaland GeneralRe: Declare Herdsmen Attacks As Terrorist Acts, SERAP Urges UN Security Council by ToriBaze(op): 2:16pm On Mar 18, 2018
Nairaland GeneralDeclare Herdsmen Attacks As Terrorist Acts, SERAP Urges UN Security Council by ToriBaze(op): 2:15pm On Mar 18, 2018
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sent an open letter to the UN Security Council and its members urging them to: “Urgently hold a special session on Nigeria and to visit the country to press the authorities to end continuing killings and destruction of property by suspected herdsmen across Nigeria, particularly in the North-Central of the country.”

The organization also asked the Council to: “treat the atrocities by herdsmen as terrorist acts, in line with the UN Security Council resolution 2349 (2017), which addresses Boko Haram’s presence in the Lake Chad Basin and calls on all states to combat all forms and manifestations of terrorism. Declaring attacks by herdsmen as terrorist acts would help make up the authorities to seriously address the threats posed by herdsmen and combat the crimes against humanity being committed against Nigerians.”
In the letter dated 16 March 2018 and signed by SERAP deputy director Timothy Adewale the organization expressed, “serious concern that the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is failing to uphold its responsibility to protect the citizens from increasing atrocities by the herdsmen, which if not urgently addressed would pose serious threat to regional peace and security, and by extension, international peace and security. The Security Council must act now to protect Nigerians, including women and children, if the Council is not to be accused of failing the people of Nigeria.”
The organization said: “The attacks by herdsmen have uprooted families, destroyed communities’ socio-economic activities, and taken away their livelihoods and common heritage. These attacks undermine the very purposes and principles of the UN Charter. If not urgently combatted, such attacks may rise to the level of threat to international peace and security. SERAP notes that the first ‘purpose’ listed for the UN is to maintain international peace and security, and to that end: to take effective collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to the peace.”
The letter read in part: “SERAP urges the Security Council and its members to publicly condemn these terrorist attacks, express concern about the protection of Nigerians and communities affected by the violations of international humanitarian and human rights law and press the authorities to put in place special mechanisms for bringing those suspected to be responsible to justice, and victims to receive redress, including adequate compensation and guarantee of non-repetition.”
“The Security Council and its members should reaffirm that terrorism of all forms and manifestations, such as the growing attacks by herdsmen in Nigeria, are criminal and unjustifiable regardless of their motivations. They should also recognize that security, development and human rights are interlinked and mutually reinforcing and are vital to an effective and comprehensive approach to countering all forms of terrorism in Nigeria.”
“The Security Council and its members should adopt a resolution to: Characterise killings by herdsmen as terrorist acts and mobilize international support for Nigeria to combat these attacks, including for the authorities to adopt and implement measures to tackle the causes and consequences of these attacks and end all forms of terrorism in the country.”
“The resolution should also call on the UN Secretary-General to carry out a joint visit to Nigeria with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, and the African Union Peace and Security Council to investigate allegations of killings by herdsmen and to better understand the root causes of these killings and put pressure on the Nigerian authorities to end them.”
“The resolution should express concern that unabated killings by herdsmen may ultimately contribute to undermining the ability of the Nigerian authorities to provide security, good governance, social and economic development in the country. It should affirm the international community’s solidarity and full support for the victims of killings by herdsmen and the communities affected, including those displaced because of the attacks.”
“The Security Council and its members should support collaboration with the African Union Peace and Security Council to combat the threats posed by herdsmen and enable both institutions to support stability and development in Nigeria. We believe that a UN Security Council resolution would help to put pressure on[...]
