Politics / Achebe Was Right Afterall; See Okoraocha's Life In The Teetee by tosank: 7:03pm On Jan 20, 2013
Achebe was right afterall: he said in his book, "There was a country" that the problem of the Igbo nation is that most of them are not humble; they try to assume what is not theirs, try to assume honor that is not theirs.
What happened in the weekend is an example of that; Okoracha calling Obasanjo a "coleague"; see the reward of an unwise man with mouth diarrhea, a man who does not give honor to whom honor is due....he was disgraced in Abeoukuta like a class clown. The Igbo nation should blame him for throwing away their chance of seeing the Aso Rock in 2015 or the nearest future.

Politics / Warning To Igbo Nation! by tosank: 9:19am On Nov 12, 2012
I read about the appointment of UNILAG's new VC and what did I see? Ethnic bashing from Ibos..u guys will soon have your death wish obliged. Let us finish with our Regionalization scheme. Be prepared to:

1. Move out of Lagos and Ibadan
2. Pay extra tax to do buz in the SW
3. Be denied access to all our media, including Multichoice.
4. Have your movies banned
5. Forgo all hopes of having your son in Aso Rock

I call on the all well-meaning Ibos to save the situation because the hate is rising. Something needs be done before innocent Ibos suffer the misdeeds of a few.

Politics / Re: Gov Amosun Allocates 500 Hectares Of Land To Lagos State by tosank: 10:58pm On Oct 25, 2012
I see envy in them Okoro people. Kidding. Rather than envy this regional integration in the South West, I'd rather you people watch and learn then make your governors inSE and your leaders learn how to put their region first.

Good move, Amosun and Fashola.

Up Odua!

Politics / Re: Chinua Achebe: Why Nigerians Hate Igbo by tosank: 11:52pm On Oct 24, 2012
lastpage:

Let me just add a few lines to the 'highlighted' above:

My Igbo brothers might not like it but it is obvious that this "self-restraint" cum wisdom and clarity of "objective" is what the Igbos tag as "Cowardice" in the Yoruba!

The Yorubas could have gone to war over "June 12" but credit to them for knowing when to explore "other methods" to achieve the same objective, rather than go to war. War is not only expensive, it is brutal! Of course, the Igbos deride them as cowards, for not going to war! grin wink

We know who is the "coward" now, going by historical data (who lost a senseless war, at great expense, who is begging to produce a President, e.t.c)

The Igbos have a streak of "Gra-Gra" in them and seems to think that "physical Muscle-flexing" is the solution to all issues.
An Igbo man will quickly challenge you to a duel, not minding the outcome of such rash decision making. If and when thoroughly thrashed, he turns around to seek sympathy and blame everyone around for his failure ....least himself!

That same "gra-gra" was exhibited by Ojukwu, when he, as a "Military General", led his race to slaughter! he could have exhibited some wisdom (he stooped to conquer) and wait for the "right time" when all the 'chips are in his hand' but like anyone who swings a blow first, before thinking, those who use their brains out-foxed him in military maneuvers!

And his descendants are here whining on why we need to apologize to them, for his foolishness!

Its called "A War" and both side lost people! "The battle of Oore" saw to the death of many Yorubas, right? Why did Ojukwu not just defend his Biafra and not try "conquering" a Southern territory? ......and You expect a "Southern Icon" like Awolowo (someone credited with astute acumen!) to fold his hands and watch Ojukwu overrun his territory?
Get real please, that is not "hatred"; That is a "survival instinct and a necessity"!

In war, "all is fair", as they say.

People have pointed out severally that per-chance, if it was Awolowo that undid the "gra-gra" of the Igbos in the 60's, at least in the last 13-14years of democratic dispensation (not to mention the second Republic), the Igbos have been ruling themselves in the Eastern part of Nigeria yet, that part of Nigeria is the least developed till today?

Is Awolowo also responsible for you people's inability to manage your wealth and environment? Is Awolowo also to be held responsible for you people rushing to invest in your "enemy's territory"?
Or could it be that it is the same "wisdom and calmness of spirit" exhibited by your "coward brothers!(lol)" that is so welcoming, you cannot resist it!

Human nature cannot be easily changed but the Igbos must recognize that their "aggressive nature and unbridled greed/selfishness" is and will always be responsible for their downfall.

Even the Bible advices man to be "quick to listen but slow to act; be slow to anger".

A wise man will listen to criticisms (assuming he is too proud to look in the mirror!).... and make changes or adjust himself.

A self-conceited and arrogant fool will wallow in self delusion of grandeur (we are better than everyone else!) while pointing fingers at others, for his failures ....this is the quagmire of the Igbos, (metaphorically speaking).

The earlier they recognize it, the better and quicker they would start achieving their latent potentials.
Its a very 'thin line' between 'courage and arrogance'.
