The problem with Nigeria in my opinion is that business development is soo much tied to the political climate. Every time a new party comes in, to survive you must BRIBE and support that new party. Abroad it is not necessary so, in fact, to obtain the necessary votes YOU MUST SERVE the small business owners and listen to them.

What does this mean ?

I have a personal story, I had an uncle who studied engineering abroad and then went back to Nigeria to start an elevator company business; HE made a lot of money. But every time a new political candidate came in, he needed to BRIBE and such; apart from that unnecessary stress, he was KILLED in the end by armed robbers.

1. Take Bill Gates for example <I've never heard or read about him having to bribe this and that political candidate> in fact, the government THANKS him for creating jobs and promoting workforce and economic development

2. I have never seen Bill Gates worry so much about his safety. <Im sure he has body guard BUT light is not a problem, the fear of armed robbery attacks is NOT a daily problem for him.>
SO THIS HAPPENS TO EVERYBODY IN NIGERIA WHO DECIDES TO SIT DOWN AND DO BUSINESS?

WHAT ABOUT MILLIONS WHO HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS AND YET ARE DOING GOOD IN THEIR BUSINESS? COME HOME AND I WILL POINT THESE TO YOU. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO AFTER GRADUATION DECIDED TO GO INTO BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY DID PROFFESSIONAL COURSES, TODAY THEY ARE MILLIONAIRES, AND WHEN THEY GO OUT IN THEIR CARS, OR WHEN THEY GO HOLIDAYING ABROAD, THE LIKES OF YOU CALL THEM THIEVES AND GOVERNMENT APOLOGISTS.

@POSTER

I am not suprised with the way you sound here. I have met many of your type. Check it well, this Yara Adua administration somehow somewhere must have been  benefitting you and your family. Any day I can get same opportunity to corner and find myself in the favour of any Government at all, be it militaty self, I go dey shout on top of my voice pass you. Leave this story u tryna weep up here. A bad government that cant create enabling atmosphere for wealth and are not interested in the well being of its citizenry cannot be supported. A government that can help raise you $100 not to talk of $2000 you are talking about will in no way be supported. A government or nation that aid corruption, godfatherism and all sorts of neglect and unequal opportunity for its citizenry should get lost and you a fucking bomb-ass-womanliness enjoying from the crumbles of such ill-fated government should get a life. Hisssssssssssssssssssss!
STUPID RANTING. THE POSTER IS TALKING ABOUT THE COUNTRY NIGERIA AND NOT ABOUT YOU SUPPORTING THE GOVERNMENT.

@Poster, just trying to understand the connection you are making here. Are you saying that what is needed in Nigeria is for disaporans to FORGET all things wrong with the way things are in Nigeria, and simply start yet another lucrative company in Nigeria? I would really like to understand your point here.

If all diasporans went home tommorow with $2000, to start a business, what exactly do you believe will result? Or is this, to you, about rivaling china or something?
Where did he mention diasporians? These people think too much about themselves. Is it diasporians that spend time and money queing up at the embassy to go to the UK/USA?

Why not read his post properly? but in any case, when you read the post, you thought he was talking about the diasporians, because why, they are the perpetual moaners, never see anything good in Nigeria, and they are the worst trhieves and robbers abroad.

the point is, all those noises from abroad should just shut down since you all know nothing about what is going on in Nigeria - not everyone is a skeptic about Nigeria, the people are wise and you cant stop them celebrating or jubilating anything they think is worth their time.

Even the video I took on this I could not put them up online. Someone (Oga contactor, anyone) should have had the rain in mind. Just like the night, make plan towards it.
If it was you, what plans would you make against nature? Must you speak ill of everything? Is this a new thing? Or does it happen only in Nigeria?
