hello bro, my F1 visa has been approved for master's in chemical engineering at Tamuk. Can I pm you to ask some questions
MackyNaija:
So IF rent is $150 + utilities $80 + food $80

You have easily crossed $250. This is an average cost here for managing.

Any errors or questions, you can point it out.

If you do 6people in a 3bedroom, the cost drops further but still hovers around $200 monthly for the most essential things.

Hello, pls I'd like to know how to send transcripts from Senate without going through records unit as they are even on strike sef. Sent you a pm
KISSABLE0606:
Lol Sorry ooo, emmmm but if the school is university of lagos, there is a way you can get your transcript without going through school and its stress, the person works at senate also, you could just talk to him and get sorted..........Irony of life.....

I introduced a friend to this thread some times back and he turned a visa agent over night.

Meanwhile, my Alma Mata still refuse to release my transcript on the grounds that they couldn't find my 100level results. This is after 6 years of graduation from the school oooo.

Academic affairs said I should go to dept, my department said I should go to course advisor. Course advisor said I should go to hod. HOD said I should go back to exams and records to hold them responsible because for me to have graduated, obtained degree certificate, and served, then it means all my results had been sent to the Senate as at the time of my graduation.

The only help they are willing to do for me is to convert me to direct entry which won't go well because my proposed school requires WES. and WES requires all my results. I'm frustrated.

Good GPA for that matter. I have been on this transcript issue since July this year. I have missed spring 2018 period, now hoping for fall and yet, no transcript.

I'm depressed, frustrated. Tots of "sniper" have been filling my mind lately.

VISA APPROVED.
My visa was approved by a beautiful lady at window 3. I was praying to be interviewed by her cos she approved like two people while I was still on the queue. It got to my turn and the cgi directed me to her, I just knew I got it already. It lasted for about 1min max.
Here's My transcript
Me: Good morning ma.
Vo: *didn't reply, continued typing,* your passport and I20 pls.
Me: Here you go.
VO: *checked my I20 for like 10s* and asked where are you going to?
Me: I'm going to Texas A&M University Kingsville for a master's degree in chemical engineering with concentration in Environmental Pollution.
Vo: *nods* why master's degree
Me: I've had basic knowledge of chemical engineering in my undergraduate degree and I believe this would enable me to broaden my... Vo Cuts in
Vo: when did you graduate
Me: Jan ****
Vo : which school
Me: University of lagos
Vo: did you write any exam
Me: I wrote the gre and toefl
Vo: how did you do
Me: I did well scoring bleep on my gre and bleep on my Quantitative and verbal section. I also had bleep on toefl.
Vo: Who will be paying for this
Me: My uncle
Vo : what does he do
Me: told her
*she typed for like 15s while I just kept praying *
Then she brought out the white paper and said you qualified for this visa today. I couldn't hear anything again honestly.I thought people always lie when they say it here but it's true mehn grin. I just saw her circling my pick up location and she reminded me to keep my I20 properly as I'd need it at poe. I said my thanks and left happily.

I over prepared for the interview, I couldn't even sleep well at night, always ruminating possible questions and answers. She didn't even ask those questions, it's just God.

Many thanks to everyone on this forum that have in one way or the other contributed to my success. Special thanks to jerrypeacelinks for mock interview and words of encouragement, you'll surely get yours too. To Mayorboi, I say big thanks for the mock interview and heads up. We'll surely connect at Kingsville. To other spring 2018 applicants, I wish everyone all the best.

PS : Please pray fervently and also dress well. God bless you.

Hi guys! Visa got approved this Monday at Lagos Embassy.

Being my first time, I got to the street that lead to the embassy very early (around 6:30am because my appointment was for 8am). I was bombarded by some mobile business centres guys who paraded me without giving me any breathing space. Not so long after the parade, I realised that some of my documents were missing. I had no choice than to engage one of those guys. They helped me print out all the missing documents at the rate of 1,000 naira (I wanted to cry though). After this I moved to the embassy entrance immediately. On getting to the police check point, I realised that mobile phones were not allowed at the venue. I look for a police officer to drop the phone with. She charged me a bill of 1,000 to help me keep the phone. I was so frustrated as that was the last card on me. At that point, I made a prayer to God that I must not go home with my passport as this stress and spending was too much. I was sweating profusely and later join the line at the embassy. Little did I know that I am going into another queuing. Anyways, after all the paparazzi, I was sent to a VO line. On getting to the line, I started observing people that are being interviewed by the VO. The VO was just denying people of visa. I was like, who is this wicked lady. At that point I was afraid and shaking. But I said to myself, I am going home with the white paper. I was tempted to change line, I discovered that other lines too were like the same. I just calm down at my line. After a lot of people were denied, I think one was approved, it got to my turn. I said, God favour me. Then the conversation started as follow;

VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning
VO: Your documents please.
Me: I gave her the documents (I20, Sevis Receipt and International Passport)
VO: Checking the documents and typing. After few seconds, you are going to illinois for doctorate degree (she was talking to herself while typing).
Me: I was looking at her.
VO: What is your highest degree of qualification
Me: BSc. First Class
VO: Really? But you are going for PhD. Okay you will be doing the masters along.
Me: I was just looking at her as she answered herself. I only nodded my head in agreement.
VO: She typed a little bit. How many schools did you applied to?
Me: Two schools, I named the schools
VO: Why have you decided to go for UIC?
Me: (Stammering) I listed three reasons as she was looking at me.
VO: What did you studied for BSc.?
Me: Chemical Engineering
VO: She looked at the I20. Okay you will be studying Chemical Engineering too.
VO: Have you traveled out before?
Me: No
VO: Why? (straight face)
Me: Because I have not had any reason to do that until now.
VO: She nodded her head
VO: What was your research area
Me: Kinetics and reaction engineering
VO: What will you be focusing on at UIC?
Me: Kinetics and reaction engineering
VO: What is Kinetics and reaction engineering? (straight face with full attention on me)
Me: (I was like, thank God) I answered her to the extent that she stopped me.
VO: What is your role at your place of work?
Me: I told her and stylishly relate it to process engineering, though they are related.
VO: Do you know anybody in USA?
Me: No
VO: Are you willing to pay for your bills?
Me: Yes. (I was like - who will say no?)
VO: Your Visa is approved. She gave me a white paper and circle my visa pick up point.
Every other things she said, I did not listen. I just wanted to leave the hall.
On leaving the hall, the police woman saw my face, among all other faces that were coming out from the visa office, she decided that she was not going to give me my 500 naira change. She latter calculated my transport fare for me and gave me 200 naira to return to Shomolu. Who am I to complain. At least I have my visa anyways. then I left the location.

The ONLY documents checked were;
1. I20
2. Sevis receipt
3. International Passport

Remark: I tried to see if I could get a science to the process, I can only say, the only thing is God's grace and favour. I prayed and prayed. Of course, I practiced with a lot of transcripts from here as given to me by my friend. I also spoke with other students that have passed through the process.

Thanks everybody. May God bless you.

Hi Nairalanders, I'm dropping the transcript of a very close friend of mine who indirectly benefited from the wealth of information on this forum. I must acknowledge the great work everyone is doing here. Both those asking the questions and people responding to these questions. His transcript goes thus;
VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning
VO: Your documents please.
Me: I gave her the documents (I20, Sevis Receipt and International Passport)
VO: Checking the documents and typing. After few seconds, you are going to Illinois for doctorate degree (she was talking to herself while typing).

Me: I was just looking at her as she answered herself. I only nodded my head in agreement.
VO: She typed a little bit. How many schools did you applied to?
Me: Two schools, I named the schools
VO: Why have you decided to go for UIC?
Me: I chose this school because of these reasons; 1.UIC promotes cutting edge research opportunities, transformative educational growth and professional advancement. 2. Chemical Engineering department is populated largely by award-winning faculty that develop advanced fundamental insights into new processes and building innovative technologies. 3. My interactions with Prof Meenesh Singh and Prof Christos G. Takoudis whose wealth of research experience in Reaction Kinetics and Process Analysis aligns greatly with my research interest and my Undergraduate research project and I hope to learn a great deal from, in application to solving environmental and energy related problems.
VO: What did you studied for BSc.?
Me: Chemical Engineering
VO: She looked at the I20. Okay you will be studying Chemical Engineering too.
VO: What was your research area
Me: Kinetics and reaction engineering
VO: What will you be focusing on at UIC?
Me: Kinetics and reaction engineering
VO: What is Kinetics and reaction engineering?

VO: Do you know anybody in USA?

VO: Are you willing to pay for your bills?
Me: Yes.
VO: Your Visa is approved. She gave me a white paper and circle my visa pick up point.
Remark: I tried to see if there is science to the process, the only thing is God's grace and favour. I prayed.

PS: I had to retrieve this from my friend as it will be largely unfair if he doesn't give back.

Hopefully, mine wil come up next year. I had to reconsider further processing of St John University as I wasn't awarded TA. New York is very expensive place to study and live and like Egbon Twood would say, take your time to plan your study. Lagosismyhome would always advise, REFIRE! That's what I have done with three schools for Fall 2018.

Goodmorning Guys,

This thread has been very helpful i must confess. I was interviewed yesterday morning and i got the VISA. So here is a little way to give back and say thank you. First of all i want to say a big thank you to everyone who comes back here from time to time to drop their transcript, a big thank you to OMOLUABI for the series of mock, also to my whatsapp nairaland group members, especially Dupsaw and Therighteous for their own mock interviews and advice too. It felt like a small family with you guys and i pray that every member of our whatsapp group gets their visas as well.

Ok, i left my Ikoyi apartment around 4.15am, i said my final prayers, ordered for taxify and by 4.30am i was at the embassy. I was the first person to arrive and it felt super cool, infact it felt like i won a medal LOL. I actually wore my best suit, best shoes, and i was looking all corporate, and i felt so confident. I had already read here to ignore those embassy touts, so i didnt even pay any attention. People started arriving at about 5am and by 6am the embassy was filled up.

I did try as much as possible to maintain my front area position, fast forward to 6.30am, two officers came out from the embassy and told us to form a queue, chai some fast guys took my front position. Anyways i was amongst the first batch and i did all the necessary finger prints and i was later directed to the white guy at Desk 1.I noticed some mistakes that some people made that i will like to address; when you get to the embassy, dont go about making new friends, gisting and hanging around, it may cause you some distraction, just focus on the mission at hand, also dress sense is also important as your appearance counts alot, for the Men, try to get a clean haircut and a clean shave, remove all those beards, dress in a manner that the VO will be convinced that you are a responsible fellow, dont come wearing some canvas and looking hipy, or some random outfit, for the ladies too dress like someone who is going to a higher institution for professional studies.

My transcript goes thus-

VO- Goodmorning
ME- Goodmorning Sir

VO- Kindly pass me your I-20 and passport please.
ME- Have it Sir.

VO- So i can see you are going to Sulross state university for your Masters degree in business administration?
ME- Yes, i am going to Sulross state university at Alpine in texas for my MBA.

VO- Why the career change from Agricultural Economics to Business Management?
ME- While i was in the university i realised that i had a strong passion for discovering and promoting young entrepreneurs, and also organising
events. I have discovered and promoted over 300 startup brands here in Nigeria so upon graduation i realised that this was what i wanted
to do for the rest of my life.

VO- (Now he looks straight at me in the eyes and i starred back at him) So how will an MBA help you in this choosen career?
ME- The MBA will help me in acquiring the needed professional skills for a successful business career. It will also
help me to learn and network with a diverse class of people who would have come from different parts of the world.

VO- Did you apply to any other school?
ME- Yes, i also applied to Texas A&M University at Commerce.

VO- Did you get in?
ME- Yes i was also admitted.

VO- So why Sulross?
ME- (He stares at me again) Well, i had been in close contact with *chai i forgot the professors name ooo so i came up with a name* Dr Bleep she
heard about what i have been able to achieve with my startup business here in Nigeria and she has agreed to offer me mentorship to
inorder to become a better business Man (thanks to Dupsaw for that line). Also Sulross state university is very affordable for a state
university and considering the quality of education they offer.

VO- Did you write any tests?
ME- Yes, i wrote TOEFL and GRE.

VO- What did you score?
ME- Toefl 82, GRE 281

VO- Who is sponsoring?
ME- My Dad.

VO- What does he do?
ME- He sells and import cars and he is also into real estate.

VO- Do you have any statement to show you have enough funds for your first year?
ME- Yes. *sharp sharp i brought out all the documents, na em i com dey find the statement oooo, lol cos i had printed out my personal bank
statement and that of my business, so i had about 3 different statements, the Man was actually waiting patiently for me. I later found my
Fathers statement hiding under one of the documents. He looked through for about 15 secs.

VO- He picked a white paper from his table, circled my pickup location. He didnt even say i will be approving your visa like i read from other
transcripts, he just said so you can pick up your visa in three days time, honestly, i didnt hear all the other things he was saying
afterwards.
ME- Thanks alot Sir. God bless. I packed all the scattered documents and i left.

Once i came out of the exit door, i looked up to the sky, i felt connected to the Lord at that moment and i felt he gave me a BIG smile back, i said "Thank you Lord". So i am going to the AMERICA grin

The Lord did it and i give him all the glory. I really practiced so hard for this, it reminded me of how much i prepared during those years i was writing ICAN back in uni cheesy

I wish you guys all the best.

You can drop your phone number if you need mock. x

I'd select either one and the naira equivalent of the dollar amount would be deducted.

Go back to the drawing board bro. That's a really bad score. You'd need to redo the gre and ace it to even think of getting a PhD admit with funding. No shortcut.
Good luck!

In my case, there were three courier service options,
DHL, FedEx, UPS. All with different prices. As a Nigerian, I went for the cheapest which was UPS, $92.80 and got my document 4days later paying through PayPal.

I chose Not employed and explained what I have been doing since I finished schooling. Just make sure you remember what you write there as the VO might ask during the interview.
