The G5FA + MF296A may not last up to 3 hours.

You don't even know what you're talking about. The person you quoted was talking about how Airtel calls ODU customers who haven't subscribed on the ODU device for some time to remind the customer of the need to subscribe. Otherwise the ODU would be retrieved.
They initiate these calls from their customer support lines. I bet the person who called you was a scammer and you felt for it and sent 2k to him.

I always said it that locking bands can be detrimental. This is because the cells on the bands fluctuate from time to time. Leaving them unlocked gives the router the chance to do its work of choosing the best cell and best frequency at any given time.

So apparently it was a nationwide issue because it was about that same time mine got fixed.

I've come to notice that one of the major culprit to my network challenges on the ODU is letting my sub expire completely before renewing.

For instance, I can get amazing network speeds for my current sub, but as soon as I let it expire and renew later, I'll start having challenges especially towards evening.

So what I have been experimenting on is to renew my sub a day b4 expiry, that way there's no downtime and surprisingly this has worked well for me. Combine this with the 3G only trick, I think you will have less connection problems.

Since mtn seems to be confused if they're launching the ODU or not, make we dey enjoy our Airtel small small.

They are 5. Two ZLTs, two ZTEs and one Huawei.

Among them, ZTE G5F is the best ODU in terms of network reception. I like Huawei as a brand and they have a nice IDU, better than ZTE IDU.

As for the battery, the power banks serve as UPS for me in case an unlikely event like power outage happens. If not, 99% of the time they are always plugged into electricity from inverter.

The IDU of the Zlt ODUs does two jobs, one of which is PoE. It's hard to get a device that can do that. If you have fried your IDU, you go need to buy PoE adapter and a router that can work as wired broadband.

That said, I think the ZTE device in that quoted message should be able to work as wired broadband.
