There are plenty of ways to make extra money online, but most people are familiar with only a few of them. They might have heard of Etsy, for example, and know that it’s an easy way to sell handmade items, but few have heard of Rentacoder (which is now called Freelancer) which allows you to rent out your web development skills or JustAnswer, which allows you to get paid to answer questions from consumers. Here are five ways to make extra money online that many people aren’t aware of yet.

BIAFRA: Buhari Should Dialogue With IPOB Now Before It Turns Into Another Civil War

These are not the best of times for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a pro-Biafra secessionist group founded by Nnamdi Kanu. IPOB's aim is to actualise the independence of Biafra within the shortest possible time.

Under the current administration, IPOB protesters have been heavily clamped down by security forces in the country. A few weeks ago, we reported how IPOB protesters clashed with members of the Department of State Services in Enugu state. It was bloody.

Since the clash, an IPOB member known as Mazi Ofornedu Okoafor has remained in detention even though he needs urgent medical attention. According to Daily Post, the Enugu state police command and soldiers picked up Okoafor alongside his grandfather on August 23rd, 2020, while receiving treatment at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital in the State.

We cannot authenticate this news at this time. However, the paper reports that IPOB has issued a strong warning to the police in the state. The group threatened that should anything befall Okoafor while in detention, the police and security agencies in the state would pay very dearly for it.

A statement released by IPOB reads in part: “We the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) condemn in the strongest possible terms the continued inhumane, illegal and immoral detention of Mazi Ofornedu Okoafor who was abducted with his grandfather at the (UNTH) Enugu where he was receiving medical treatment for bullet wounds inflicted on him by the same Nigerian Police and soldiers on the 23rd of August 2020 at Emene in Enugu State.

“Why an innocent man, grievously injured by the police, should be chained to the floor in a police cell rather than receiving treatment in a hospital defies logic and common sense. This brand of supporter of APC policing should be condemned by every right thinking person.”

This writer would hate so much to give the impression that he is either a supporter or an opponent of the clamour for the secession of Biafra. That's not the intention. The fact however is there is an underlying problem behind all of these unfortunate experiences with IPOB.

For the umpteenth time, the writer will like to say that the Igbos have a genuine reason to feel marginalised from the Nigerian commonwealth. They have never produced a head of state since Aguiyi Ironsi. They feel politically incapacitated in their own country.

Instead of deploying a battalion to clamp down on them, why not just have a dialogue with them? Without this, IPOB would remain to be a protest group. Without dialoguing with IPOB and the Igbos at large, we may be setting the stage for another civil war in Nigeria.

Politics / Buhari's Government Assures 100M Nigerians Will Be Out Of Poverty By 2030 by Toyboyz: 12:26pm On Sep 10, 2020
President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that the Nigeria Agenda 2050 and Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) would lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030.

The president made the disclosure yesterday during the inauguration of a new National Steering Committee to oversee the development of the MTNDP as a replacement for the Vision 20:2020 and the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP) 2017 – 2020, which terminate by December this year.

The panel will be jointly chaired by Mr. Atedo Peterside and Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning.

Buhari stressed that it was important to develop successor plan to the Vision 20:2020 and ERGP in order to ensure continuity and efficiency in the nation’s development planning.

He said: ”The main objectives of these successor plans are to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within the next 10 years, particularly given the World Bank’s projection that Nigeria will become the world’s third most populous country by 2050 with over 400 million people.”

On the mandate of the National Steering Committee, President Buhari said it would oversee governance structure comprising the Central Working Group and 26 Technical Working Groups for the important national assignment.

”It is my expectation that the Steering Committee will oversee the execution of key deliverables, including recommending measures to ensure the continuous implementation of the plans even after the expiration of the tenure of successive administrations – including legislation, if required.

”Such legislation may introduce much-needed rigour and discipline to the nation’s development planning as well as institutionalise planned outcomes for the future. I trust that our partners in the National Assembly will support us in exploring these reforms,” he said.

President Buhari urged the National Steering Committee not to lose sight of the important role Nigeria plays on the continent as well as in the global community.

He said the Successor Plans must be designed to sustain national development, as well as support regional and global strategic interests, as outlined in the African Union Agenda 2063, the ECOWAS Integration Agenda 2050 and the Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

Underscoring the importance of national development planning, the President said if carefully conceived and diligently implemented, it can transform the economic fortunes of a nation. He cited the Chinese development plan which had succeeded in lifting over 700 million people out of poverty since 1992.

The trajectory of Chinese economic development was halted by the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic early this year, he noted. ”COVID-19 presents the world – and Nigeria – with a crisis as well as an opportunity. The current global health and economic crises give us an opportunity to think afresh and chart an optimal path forward, ” he said.

Buhari recalled that in February 2017, when he launched the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, its objectives included, restoring and sustaining growth, investing in people and building a globally competitive economy while Nigeria’s Vision 20:2020 was an articulation of the long-term intent to launch Nigeria onto a path of sustained socio-economic development.

“The ERGP shared this vision, which ensured that the country exited recession in 2017 and sustained growth in Gross Domestic Product until the recent global economic challenges occasioned by COVID-19.

“Over the decades, successive planning and visioning exercises have guided investment in human capital development, the implementation of our infrastructural roadmap, and supported social investment in our people’s lives and livelihoods,” he said.

The President wished the committee success in its as signment, adding that he looked forward to receiving regular reports of deliberations.

On the composition of the committee, the President said in order to ensure a truly consultative, participatory and inclusive planning process, the membership will comprise representatives of one state governor from each of the six geopolitical zones, the Senate and House of Representatives, ministers and representatives of key agencies.

Other members of the National Steering Committee are major political parties, ALGON, captains of industries, labour organizations, youth organizations and women’s societies, farmers’ associations, traditional and religious leaders, people with special needs and members of the press.

”At the heart of the Successor Plans is the partnership between the public and private sectors, with government as the enabler of private sector investment and industry,” the President said.

In her remarks, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning noted that lately, various zones of the country have been pursuing different economic cooperation within their areas. She, therefore, urged that the new plans consider the comparative advantages available in these regional blocs to build a virile Nigeria.

The minister said though the two national plans would soon expire, the government must be ready to tell Nigerians how much they have transformed the economy. The co-chair, Peterside, pledged to work as a team, commending the President for making the committee very inclusive. He pointed out that there must be inclusiveness, consultations and public ownership for the new plan to work.

Celebrities / Hold Pastor Ibiyeomie Accountable If Anything Evil Happens To Me - Daddy Freeze by Toyboyz: 1:22am On Sep 10, 2020
Radio Presenter, Ifedayo Olarinde widely known as Daddy Freeze, has asked Nigerians to hold Pastor David Ibiyeomie, accountable if anything evil happens to him.

Freeze said this in response to threats made by Ibiyeomie to arrest, tear and kill him for “insulting” Bishop David Oyedepo.

In reaction, Freeze has said that he did not insult Bishop Oyedepo but merely corrected him.

He urged the police to call Ibiyeomie for questioning over the threat to his life.

He noted that freedom of speech does not give room for threat to life.

He said, “I also need to draw the attention of the public and the law enforcement to the threat of life that was issued to me in that video.

“Pastor Ibiyeomie, I don’t know if you know that threat to life is a criminal offence and let it be on the record that you threatened my life. Is this how Nigerians are going to accept this?

If anything happens to me, I hope you know who to hold accountable.

Are we going to keep quiet and let this lie because it is coming from a pastor?

If anything happens to me, should anything whatsoever happen to me, I want you to know who to hold responsible.”

Religion / Yahaya Aminu Sharif: An Open Letter To CAN By Nnamdi Abana by Toyboyz: 10:55pm On Sep 09, 2020
An Open Letter To The Christian Association Of Nigeria: Will The Leadership Of Can Escape Judgment If Yahaya Aminu Sharif Is Executed? By Nnamdi Abana

My last caution for the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria at this time is for them to rescind their statement and call for the exoneration of the musician who has been sentenced to death. It is their responsibility to see to it that the young man is not killed else in judgment the blood of Sharif-Aminu will be required of them especially those at the helm of affairs of CAN at this time.

There is an ongoing controversial case of blasphemy in Kano, the Northern part of Nigeria, which is generating much controversy across the country and beyond but the most shocking shade of the case is the statement issued by the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria whose position should be based on the tenets of the Christian faith which they profess and represent. Unfortunately, it is becoming apparent that they are practising mere religion by failing to seize the moment to usher in the requisite comfort and salvation in this present time of need.

Jesus operated with the wisdom of God in handling the scribes and the Pharisees who tempted, tried and questioned him on several controversial subjects but he outwitted them and superimposed divine wisdom over the wisdom of this world which is earthly, sensual and wicked.

Mr Sharif-Aminu, a musician, who hails from Kano was been sentenced to death by hanging for blaspheming against the Prophet Muhammad. An upper Sharia court in the Hausawa Filin Hockey area of the state said Yahaya Sharif-Aminu, 22, was guilty of committing blasphemy for a song he circulated via WhatsApp in March. To make matters worse, the judge, Khadi Aliyu Muhammad Kani said he could appeal against the verdict. Since Sharia law was introduced in the 1999 constitution only one of the death sentences passed by Nigeria's Sharia courts has been carried. To make matters worse the judge has given an order that any Muslim lawyer that stands in defence of Sharif-Aminu should consider himself as a non-muslim.

Let’s not forget that already jungle justice has been meted out on the singer by Muslims who considered his song blasphemous, I watch on national television as protesters burnt down his family home and gathered outside the headquarters of the Islamic police, known as the Hisbah, demanding more action against him.

One would have expected that succour or words of comfort would have come from the Christian Association of Nigeria by issuing a strong statement from the Biblical standpoint on the sanctity of human life and forgiveness as proclaimed by Jesus. In an embarrassing and disgusting statement, the Christian Association of Nigeria joined the mob in calling for the execution of the singer. In a statement issued by CAN, they said and I quote "We don't have objection to it". Adeolu Samuel Adeyemo, the Kano State Chairman of CAN said the religious body does not object to the ruling because it is according to the position of Islam. The CAN chairman in response to The Guardian said thus: “For us in CAN, the judgment of the Shari’a court is according to Islamic law and so we don’t have objection to it because it is according to the position of Islam." He also added that religious tolerance should be upheld for a harmonious atmosphere to reign in the society. Adeolu went ahead to pull out a verse from the Bible to lend credence to his position on that he is not objecting to the ruling against the singer where he made reference to that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit which cannot be forgiven. “So, our interference is not relevant. Now, if you want to know the position of Christianity about blasphemy, I will say there is what you can blaspheme about and what you cannot. And the Lord Jesus said blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is a grievous sin that has no forgiveness. That is the position of Christianity,” he said.

This is indeed saddening and unbecoming of the Christian Association of Nigeria who knows the basic tenets of Christianity and the message of God’s love and grace to unbelievers who should be recipients of grace and salvation. The great Paul the Apostle that we all venerate and quote as Christians was a murderer who supervised the killing of Stephen. He also went ahead to get the necessary authorisation to persecute and crush Christians. Jesus himself had to show up to stop his madness.

It is the responsibility of CAN to issue a strong warning against the death sentence imposed on Mr Sharif-Aminu. Haven’t the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria read from the scriptures that it is the responsibility of the priest to be God’s mouthpiece? The scripture instructs thus in Malachi 2:7 "For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth." Where lies the knowledge in the proclamation made by CAN? Haven’t CAN read Luke 19:10 "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

Ezekiel 3:16-21 says 16 And at the end of seven days, the word of the Lord came to me: 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel. Whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. 18 If I say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, in order to save his life, that wicked person shall die for his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. 19 But if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, or from his wicked way, he shall die for his iniquity, but you will have delivered your soul. 20 Again, if a righteous person turns from his righteousness and commits injustice, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die. Because you have not warned him, he shall die for his sin, and his righteous deeds that he has done shall not be remembered, but his blood I will require at your hand. 21 But if you warn the righteous person not to sin, and he does not sin, he shall surely live, because he took warning, and you will have delivered your soul.”

Let him that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit of God is saying.

Crime / Popular Ghanaian Pastor Shoots Wife Dead In The US by Toyboyz: 8:48pm On Sep 09, 2020
A popular US-based Ghanaian pastor identified as Sylvester Ofori has been arrested after he shot his wife Barbara Tommey dead.

The incident took place outside the 27-year-old woman’s workplace at the Navy Federal Credit Union, near the Mall at Millenia in Orlando, on Tuesday 8th September 2020.

Barbara was shot by Sylvester, near the business’ front doors on the 4600 block of Gardens Park Boulevard just before 9 a.m., an Orlando Police Department spokesperson said.

Tommey was pronounced dead at Orlando Regional Medical Center shortly after she was rushed there for medical attention.

Ofori, 35, was taken into custody at his apartment Tuesday evening, the OPD spokesperson said. He is being held at the Orange County Jail without bond on a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm.

During a press conference Tuesday morning, Chief Orlando Rolón said the shooting was captured on CCTV.

“You can tell that she was surprised by what was happening,” he said.

The Navy Federal Credit Union released a statement on the shooting.

The statement reads: "This morning, a team member was fatally injured during an act of violence outside our Millenia branch, by a man she knew, according to the police.

"Our thoughts are with our team member’s family. Our number one priority is keeping both our members and team members safe. We will ensure all team members at the branch are provided with the support they need during this time. Any further information can be provided by the Orlando Police Department."

Pastor Sylvester has reportedly been abusing his wife for a long time. Due to the abuse, Barbara was persuaded by her family to leave him. But Sylvester tracked her to her workplace yesterday and shot her 7 times.

A woman named Lisa, who witnessed the shooting, said: "I’m shaken up right now, I’m still shaken up."

She said she saw Barbara come outside to move her car before she was shot.

“The next thing I knew, he raised his hand with the gun in it, and he shot her,” she said.

“The guy was walking behind her. I don’t know if she knew he was there or not. I started running and as I’m running, I hear three or four more shots.”

Lisa spoke highly of the deceased woman.

She said: “She was always very nice when I came into the bank. She’s very nice, very nice."

The details of the meeting between the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Mohammed Adamu, and Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has emerged.

POLITICS NIGERIA understands that the number one police officer in Nigeria assured the governor of a level-playing field for all candidates in the forthcoming Edo governorship election. Adamu added that the police and other security agencies will not be bias in its operation.

Adamu also assured Obaseki that the police will not take sides with his main challenger, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Police boss told the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that the police will also put an end to the escalating violence in the state. He also assured the governor that the force had made adequate arrangements to secure the election.

A source at the meeting said governor Obaseki and his team thanked Adamu for accepting to see them.

According to him, “Obaseki thanked Adamu for providing security for them throughout his statewide campaign. He reported about 11 cases of violence in the state during the campaign and he accused APC of being behind the violence.

Romance / 10 Ways Men Act When They Don’t Love You Anymore by Toyboyz: 10:20am On Sep 09, 2020
“Signs he doesn’t love you anymore"

The sad truth about relationships is that they are rarely ever perfect. Many relationships won’t ever have the privilege of seeing itself go all the way because human beings are inherently imperfect, and their imperfections play into the dynamics of the relationship as a whole. There are many cases wherein people fall in and out of love with each other throughout a relationship.

People have to understand that so many conditions and variables have to be perfect for a relationship to have a fighting chance. Love alone isn’t enough to sustain a relationship. It takes a lot of commitment, hard work, time, effort, and heaps of good luck.

However, there’s no getting around the fact that people fall out of love with each other. It always hurts whenever that happens. You wouldn’t want to wish that kind of emotional pain or trauma unto your worst enemy. It’s a common occurrence, and the best that you can do whenever it happens to you is to try your best to move on with your life.

The earlier you can spot the problems in your relationship, the easier it will be for you to move on from the situation. If you can detect early signs of your girlfriend falling out of love with you, it will bode better for you in the long run.

1. He doesn’t seem like he cares anymore.
You feel like there’s no effort there and that his affection for you is slowly dying. It is as if he has lost interest in life in general, but he has only lost interest in you in truth. It’s as if all the vitality and animation that was once in his life has suddenly vanished, and you don’t know what to do about it.

2. He no longer compliments you on your looks.
Initially, physical attraction is what brought you together. He used to tell you that you looked so beautiful when you first started dating. But over time, the compliments started to fade away, and now you’re left with practically nothing. He no longer has that physical attraction towards you.

3. He stops putting in the effort to make your relationship work.
He sees that your relationship is dying and withering, and he is making no effort whatsoever to save it from a slow and painful death. He couldn’t care less about whether you two fight all the time, and he no longer has the patience to resolve any lingering arguments between the two of you.

4. Communication is rare between both of you.
Communication is always the bedrock of any healthy relationship. A couple engaging in open conversation with each other is still more likely to survive as opposed to couples who shut each other out. When you and your man no longer have deep and meaningful conversations, then that means he has probably lost interest in you and that your spark is dying.

5. He acts on his own accord regardless of how you feel.
Your thoughts and feelings are irrelevant to him. He will do what he wants regardless of how it’s going to make you feel. If his actions end up hurting you in the end, then it isn’t a problem for him because he doesn’t love you anymore.

6. He doesn’t express gratitude for your gestures.
He used to jump for joy whenever you brought him gifts or flowers. He would get all giddy and excited whenever you tell him about date plans. He used to plaster a huge smile on your face whenever you came home with food and treats. However, nowadays, your gestures are met with nothing better than indifference.

7. You are always the initiator of conversations.
If it always feels like you are the one who is making an effort to initiate conversations, then you should be worried. If he were indeed still in love with you, he would also willingly want to talk to you about anything under the sun. He would gladly turn to you for your opinions and your thoughts about things that interest him.

8. He doesn’t make an effort to make you feel special.
He used to love doing so many sweet and romantic things for you. However, things have changed. He doesn’t care about making you feel giddy and distinctive anymore. He couldn’t care less about whether you were happy in the relationship because obviously, he’s not feeling happy either.

9. He stops asking for your attention, and he stops giving you care too.
In the past, he used to ask for constant communication with you throughout the day. He always wanted to be the apple of your eye, and in turn, he even considered you as the center of his universe. Now though, he barely acknowledges your existence. He also doesn’t ask you to give him your attention anymore because he feels like he no longer needs it.

10. Physical intimacy is a rarity.
Kisses. Hugs. Nights in the bedroom. They’re things of the past. When physical intimacy starts vanishing, you can be assured that your relationship isn’t in the right place.

Add yours.

Politics / What Will Happen To Biafra If I Speak With Nnamdi Kanu – Orji Uzor Kalu by Toyboyz: 7:49pm On Sep 08, 2020
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has said that he believes the idea of Biafra will be dropped by Nnamdi Kanu if he gets the chance to speak with him.

He made this known in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria.

This comes weeks after the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, clashed with security operatives in Enugu State.

“I am an ardent believer in unified Nigeria. Nigerians are so entangled with each other that we can’t talk about separation.

“We are a united country and our focus should be on taking advantage of our population to build a stronger economy.

“We have reached a point where all Nigerians should be canvassing for strong institutions where rule of law and order are observed.

“Where the hardware and software components of a democratic nation are comprehensively promoted.

“If the Federal Government permits me, I will go to the United Kingdom and negotiate with Nnamdi Kanu to return to Nigeria.

“I will convince him to drop the agitation for Biafra because our people don’t need it.

“We need a united Nigeria that will allow different cultures and tongues to live peacefully in any part of the country.

“A country where people can comfortably do their businesses without fear of the unknown,” he said.

Nairaland / General / Things You Shouldn't Keep In Touch Your Wallet by Toyboyz: 8:34am On Sep 05, 2018
f you lose your wallet to thieves, there are a number of things that are much more painful than cash. To avoid pain and regrets, try to keep these five thingsout of your wallet.Your work IDIf you work in an organisation where your work ID lets you swipe in to get office access; especially during odd hours of the night, your business could be at risk if your wallet goes missing.Giving a thief access to the building could get both you and your employer in trouble. To avoid this, you can use one wallet for your 9-to-5 rounds during the week and another for the weekends.PasswordsKeeping a running list of your passwords, PINs, and alarm codes in your wallet is a quick way of asking for trouble. It would take less than a minute for anyone to figure out what the numbers are for.Instead of writing them out, you can simply make use of a password manager on your phone or computer instead. The app stores all your passwords for you, so you can make a different one that is hard to crack for every account. That way, thieves won’t have access to every single account just by knowing one of your passwords.ReceiptsYou may wonder what big deal lies in a store or bank receipt in your wallet since it doesn’t seem to carry much information. However, a skilled crook can use those bits of information to steal your money more effectively.Your credit card’s customer service department might be more likely to believe a crook who happens to know all your recent purchases. Also, a phisher could pose as your favourite restaurant or store via email, putting malware on your computer when you click a link. If you don’t need the receipts, don’t throw it away—shred it.Gift cardsLike cash, you have no way to get money back from gift cards if you lose them. Your gift cards are just like cash, as you don’t need to show any form of identification to use them. Only tuck them in your wallet when you know you’ll use them. All Your Debit And Credit CardsBuilding up a big stack of debit and credit cards is quite easy. However, having several cards is not the best thing to do. It is best to cap it at two or three to avoid identity theft. For one thing, spreading your points outinto several different cards, will usually not add up to anything useful and may even put you at bigger risk. The more cards you have in your wallet, the more damage a thief can do quickly. It is best to carry just one credit card and a debit card, and leave the rest at home. If they all get stolen, the bank is not going to get them back to you in an hour. Keeping them separate will give you a safety net.
