BlackBaron:
Indeed it may be cultural, but alas our people sort of damn the consequences of which they were once carrying.

My great F was a very wealthy man, had quite a bit andmmuch more. Once he died, others were shut off. My grand was from the first wife and also the first son. Connivance rubbed him of his inheritance. The eventual benefactor's generation still enjoys the proceeds till this day. They can all choose to sit at home and still be comfortable...talking about inheritance since 1930-40!

Inheritance wars in africa are usually deadly, wise people are careful when confronted with such.

Imo, polygamy is simply a very effective means of population and lineage control, its quite common for polygamous families to knock each other off by various ways and means over the years without too many eyebrows being raised.

BlackBaron: Hmmn... Polygamy.

Not my cup of tea.
The cracks if there was never any, suddenly sprouts up on the demise of the father.

Not a legacy I'm prepared to bequeath to my unborn children!

Its cultural, its very difficult to practice in some cultures but easier in others.

The deluded self denying baboon thinks having an American accent is so great that I must pay money to gain it. What a damned foool claiming to be non-Nigerian.

If you do not like the american accent then why are you there?

Romance / Nigerian Women And Their Abundance Of Future Ambition by tpia: 7:07pm On Sep 23, 2014
Ambition does not exclude marriage, career and kids.

Nl should stop misleading impressionable people. Emphasis here on misleading.

Your choices are just that -choices.

You can choose not to marry ( millions do this all the time), or you can prefer to be married.

Its up to you ultimately what you decide, however what's important is if you are not going to be comfortable in your choices, then think hard before you make them.

And why did something die in you. Was that answer impolitic or shallow? What would you have had her say?
I think you are unduly smug.

she said married, kids and working, yet something still died in him.

what a thread, nlers sha, their level is just something else.

most of them are what's known as benchwarmers, (internet version), they simply post to buttress a thread's views and keep it going, not because they actually have thinking faculty or anything meaningful to say.

not like majority of the thread starters are any different btw.

Stop diverting this thread, pls. Ramnon2 is not English. It is not any language. It is just a coinage I made for Nairaland. And, I have an Igbo pseudonym of course. Thank you.

you should stick to Igbo only as your user name if you want to castigate people for not having the same accent as you.

anything else is hypocritical.

its quite common to take elocution lessons if you want to make it in hollywood, there's nothing strange or unusual about that.

even americans also do the same if needed.

you have to be as versatile as possible, not always stuck in a narrow minded box.

voice coaches are there for a reason.

its like saying its ok to just appear on the big screen anyhow even with bed head just because you dont want to appear "fake".

bro, it doesnt work that way, unfortunately.

even in reality tv there is still airbrushing, editing, etc.

people spend their money however they see fit, some use it to send their kids to school, some use it to finance boko haram, others use theirs to finance nairaland, others spend theirs at the photographer and associated places. If they are not asking me how to spend their riches, why should i put mouth.

abbakacici: please any parent that can afford to send his child to private, will. stop complaining, all fingers are not equal because the school you think have normal fee i.e 25-70k, most Nigeria will see that as outrageous

your first picture is actually supposed to be the way an average nigerian school would look like ideally, it doesnt show luxury per se.

how is it my business, if people want to spend their money as they see fit?

some use their money for education, others use it to encourage boko haram, some give it to the photographer an similar ventures, some give theirs to nairaland. if they did not ask me how to spend, then its up to them what they want to use i for.

most kids in that kind of school shouldnt need to hustle and struggle before getting visa, since their parents are already rich.

probably they just prep for the ivy league, high end schools perhaps.

do rich nigerians still have to struggle for visas like poor or average nigerians? Just curious.

eh, na una sabi jare.

two days before nl "reopened for business", some people were fighting themselves on the vanguard site, the usual yoruba/igbo imbroglio found on nl.

wouldnt be surprised if vanguard issued seun an ultimatum to reopen his site for his normal "business" which is attacking specific yorubas and encouraging tribal warfare.

Politics / Re: Who Hacked Nairaland And Have They Stolen 1 Million Plus User Data by tpia: 6:34pm On Jun 28, 2014
well, one just has to find out what data was stolen and in what way the stolen data will be utilized.

given that internet surveillance is not really a new thing, so why the need for this brouhaha this time.

is it connected to boko haram's southern push or the 2015 prediction.

or just a refreshing of certain people's databases.

The site was offline for three days then.
