Can I bake without using an oven?

the actual way to bake without using an oven, the way i was taught in nigeria, is you get some clean sand (gravel), a big pot, and some smaller pots, tins or something which can withstand heat.

pour the sand in the large pot, place on stove , when heated, place the other metal tins or smaller pot, on the sand, and place your prepared cake batter in the cake pan, on top.

Cover the large pot firmly, then bake for a certain number of minutes, usually you may be able to tell when your cake is done when it starts giving out an aroma.

could not find much information on this method online, but I've seen it used in nigeria.

What is an easy way to make ice cream cake?

Basically, you need a cake or crumb base, a thick ice cream layer, followed by either more layers of ice cream, or alternated with something else- cake, cookies, whatever you can comfortably add which goes well with the taste and appearance.

For a more professional look, you need a thick plastic mold/wrap to give it a round shape, or whatever shape you want.

A freezer is essential for storing the cake.
TV/Movies / Difference Between Cartoons And Animation by tpia5: 9:13pm On Jul 22, 2014
I think the major difference is in length.

Cartoons are short flicks while animation tells a longer story.

SpartanQueen: How are they childish? All the shows you mentioned are for mature audiences.Because a show is in cartoon form or a comedy doesn't mean it's childish. .

True.

Just because a show is animated doesn't mean its childish.

@staggerman, it is the spirit that gives life, God bless you
@tpia1, na ya own be that, thank God you nor be God

Bro, unlike you, I do not go to church to see "views" of human beings. Seeing people's nudity is not why I attend church.

If there is a pattern of people dressing anyhow to church, that's not good, because if you respect God, it should show in your outfit. I'm not speaking of occasional 'misadventures' in dressing, but intentional n.udity day in day out.

And remember the man without a wedding garment in matthew.

What is acceptable to you (your choice of words for instance) might not be to her and vice versa. Its about giving grace to everyone. My assertion stands though, I don't see a big deal in her post. [undecided I guess this Ibo gal failed HT101 too] wink

your not seeing a big deal in her post, is your own opinion.

my seeing a big deal in her post, is my opinion.

so, do not tell me what to make a big deal about, and i wont tell you to butt out of matters above your head.

MizMyColi: undecided undecided Btw I see no biggie in the OP's post.......if he/she is free talking about such, then why not?! cheesy (this is not sarcasm)

yorubas do not raise their daughters to be shameless, if they are, then that shows they do not come from a good home, something is wrong with their background.

the op should not think its ok for her (if she's a her), to display such grossness, crassness, shamelessness and general lack of good home training on a public forum or indeed anywhere at all.

she can move her thread to health section, that would be better.

yes, you are free to get angry because i am calling you out, however, tara e ni mo so fun e.

a man can be classless, it will not disturb his prospects that much if he determines he will do well, but if a woman is classless, it affects her chances in life.

Should i mix colours into the fondant or spray them on?

not sure, actually.

it might depend on what effect you are looking for.

Fondant is also available in the various colours, so i guess the question might be for those making fondant from scratch.

Metallic cakes- best way to get the shine?

not an expert on this either, but from what i found, seems applying an undercoat could help.

for instance, the gold luster would be improved by applying a yellow tint to the icing/fondant first, before the metallic shine.

i have not tried this though.

monalicious: nice thread.it is going to be very helpful, to me atleast.I found out that my cake usually doesn't stick together.it usually has crumbs, like bread when I slice. do yiu know why this is?

i'm not a cake expert ( i rarely even eat it due to sugar concerns), but i think you can either brush away the crumbs, or check the recipe you used.

here are some tips:

How to make a cake less crumbly

http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/cooking/msg0413453113885.html

seems the trick is to reduce the amount of baking soda, maybe reduce the flour as well, cream the butter and sugar thoroughly, and adjust the oven temperature (maybe less).

Should i use icing or fondant for my cake?

it's up to you.

However, fondant gives a wider variety for decorating i think, while icing is the more traditional method.

Romance / Re: Concubines And (il)legimate Children by tpia5: 12:53am On Jul 16, 2014
dictionary definition of concubine:

a woman who is a mistress to a man . . . who cannot be married to her because of a difference in social status.

http://www.yourdictionary.com/concubine

the reason why men actively seek to have concubines is because by making a woman one, her social status remains below his own.

she becomes or remains inferior to him.

Archilles: Need some contributions, what do you think?

1. Why do men keep concubines/mistresses?

because they do not want to accord such women the status of wives.

2. Is it possible for these men to eat their cake and have it?

in what way? Explain.

3. Does this usually lead to polygamy?

in africa, it does, most of the time, unless the man's culture does not allow polygamy.

4. Are children born out of concubinage recognised by law?

if the man acknowledges them either publicly or by dna.

if you are asking because of inheritance issues, then i think they are recognized in african culture.

If you have facts (constitutional sections, actual law cases etc), please state.

. . . . . . . . . .
