Bottom line remains that the old order of things have passed. Everyone will come to the negotiating table as equals and with their own demands. A comment like 'there is no way the capital can be in Ondo' will be a very poor and infuriating start to what would be very delicate negotiations on a lot of things.

The capital can be better placed in ekiti, compared to what you're suggesting.

Two names are sacrosanct in Ondo state, and I suppose same applies to Ekiti - Awolowo and Adekunle Ajasin. These are demi - gods here. I have never met anybody here who criticise any of these people.

My point is and I hope you can tell me your view - Why can't Akure be the administrative Capital of a new SW region particularly as such will hasten development in Ondo and potentially Ekiti State. Why must it be Ibadan?

Akure is not centrally placed, so making it the capital of a new sw region ( whatever that's supposed to mean), is not advisable for both strategic and logistical reasons. Towns and cities which are more centrally placed include ife, ibadan, etc.

While I sojourned in Lagos, there was unexplainable rapport that existed between chaps from Ondo State and their counterparts from southeastern Nigeria. During the period, it is very hard to see any Igbo boy dating a Yoruba girl. However when they do, it turned out the girl was from Akure or Owo.

Due to personal curiosity, I went to work on this unexplainable engagement. It did not take long to arrive to the bottom of it. The same unusual rapport existed between Ijebu-ode chaps and Igbo chaps.

igbos marry ijebus more than any other yoruba subgroup.

nigeria has to catch up with the rest of the world, bionic men will soon replace regular armies.

what is needed is a clear plan and mission statement for the region. (Note: this doesnt necessarily involve everybody singing kumbaya and drinking palmy until nobody even remembers why they gathered in the first place. Goals can be worked on without sentimental derailing).


for example, we need a healthcare headquarters which imo can be in osun. Build world class medical facilities (or at least standard ones) and make it a center of medical tourism, with a reputation for excellence.

business headquarters clearly will be in lagos and ogun states.

manufacturing, etc can be distributed across the region. With maybe a concentration in oyo state.

education of course is a priority, but the govt schools need urgent rehabilitation and the design and infrastructure needs to be upgraded.

i think ekiti has an edge in education though (high number of professors), maybe IT etc could be their forte.

does he have a jet?

is he using $10 million jewelry?

does he drive a $250,000 car?

does he have like 15 cars parked in his driveway?

does he own five or more skyscrapers in choice areas of town?

why would people be jealous of someone for having one house and one car?
