Literature › Re: Are There Any Literary Agents In Nigeria? by tpia5:
its not easy getting getting a work published through a literary agent.

and i'm not sure there are significant numbers of literary agents in nigeria, especially now there's a dearth of african publishers.

mediainspired: Seriously, I fail to make real sense of this article. The writer has spoken so much, but SAID LITTLE. She is sure a writer with flair, but she is in need of one more skill: saying more with less words. Back to the subject matter, the writer does not convince me she has a mental problem.
smh.
Health › Re: Coping With Mental Illness In Nigeria: A Beautiful Writer's Experience by tpia5: 2:19am On Mar 17, 2013
very scary to think people are assuming the writer does not, in fact, have mental illness.

Romance › Re: why nigerian girls should be ashamed of themselves??? by tpia5: 1:00am On Mar 17, 2013
I fell in love with a girl during my IT days. The love grew so fast and one day during our normal conversation, she told me she was a shopping freak, that she could blow 100K at once while shopping, . . .
Nobody told me to unlove this girl at the spot.
thought as long as there's butt and b.reast, you people are good to go.
Romance › Re: why nigerian girls should be ashamed of themselves??? by tpia5: 12:59am On Mar 17, 2013
Like one cannot even have a decent relationship without him spending no less than 50k the first week of dating
so you people have money like that.

tobechi74: Y dont u leave God out of this " OGA AT THE TOP JOKE '
He's the only one actually deserving and worthy of the phrase.
Christianity Etc › Re: God Is My "Oga At The Top", Who Is Yours? by tpia5:
ok, since everyone is doing it, i also did my own, however, my objections remain the same and i'm still tired of seeing the phrase everywhere.

that does not in any way negate the fact that God remains my oga at the top.

Culture › Re: The Meaning Of Peace In The Different Nigerian Languages by tpia5: 4:03pm On Mar 16, 2013
That being the case, then alaafia should primarily mean health, or well being.

Maybe in some areas, its meaning is peace.
Culture › Re: The Meaning Of Peace In The Different Nigerian Languages by tpia5: 4:02pm On Mar 16, 2013
Actually, peace in yoruba is toro, or tooro

Different from toro which means to borrow or beg.

And toro which means penny

Not sure why it didnt come to mind before, maybe the word is no longer used as much.

ujchief: You think?
I've seen stories of people getting duped here on nairaland by either a fellow nairalander or someone else. Such stories are taken to frontpage immediately; and seun himself once stated in one of such threads that he does it to inform people that nairaland doesn't condone scamming, also, to discourage potential scammers.

Why won't this plagiarism story be taking to frontpage to educate potential plagiarist that nairaland doesn't condone plagiarism, and by so doing, scare away potential plagiarists??

Frontpage isn't the only thing I was advocating for, your writers wants to know the extent your privacy policy covers there works? If someone copies my work here on nl and I sue him, his defence attorney is going to ask me if my work was originally protected where it was.
This is what seun has refused to answer, thereby, creating a huge doubt on the mind of nairaland writers.
a disclaimer can be placed in the section or somewhere, and also anyone wanting to use the material therein should acknowledge the source if they're quoting verbatim.

asking the site admin to ban copy and paste might also be an option, dunno.

as per copyright matters @ topic

you dont want to spend money but you want to post freely and expect to trademark your effort? huh

I doubt that that's how it works, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

we are all learning here.
Literature › Re: Help!!! Plagiarist On The Loose by tpia5: 3:12pm On Mar 16, 2013
Like seriously? You thought works @literature section are all x-rated? That's so dumb! This section comprises many writers with different writing styles, if the only stories you've seen so far were x-rated, then you've been searching for x-rated stories, just like you can't move your eyes off my signaturegrin

Don't mind me, I'm just the bad egg.
i've been in literature section for a while, i'm not new here.

yes, i noticed there's quite a lot of x rated material these days, if its not in sexuality section then i'm not always interested in reading it elsewhere.

it gets tiresome when sex is everywhere 24/7.

if you insist the stuff is not x rated, are you saying if i look up some of these stories (ignoring your signature), i wont find anything relating to sex?

anyway, i know some of you post tongue in cheek.

una dey find traffic.

Very bad write up.

All he did was post a picture, the op or writer added all the extra rantings.

He does not look gaay imo, he just seems like someone who has never had s.ex before, pardon my language.
Culture › Re: The Meaning Of Peace In The Different Nigerian Languages by tpia5:
^ actually, it seems the other two posters were right.

alaafia is considered the word for peace in yoruba, although i previously thought alaafia simply meant health or wellbeing.

even if you google it, alaafia is what comes up.

Ire means honor, blessing, success or prosperity (eg ireakari or orire).

and yes, ibukun also means blessing.

i also dont know if ire is used for peace in different parts of yorubaland.
