it might depend on the country and sometimes the dates may vary.

there's some intentional vagueness about it, i should think.

here's a site which gives aug 19, while some other sites say aug 18:

http://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/us/eid-al-fitr

anyway, time to prepare for post-ramadan, since the actual ramadan is already over.

Christianity Etc › Re: If God Is Love, Why Did He Hate Esau? by tpia5:
esau's actions and hardness of heart, were probably factors in his being described that way.

Malachi 1

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=mal%201&version=NIV

The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by Malachi.

2 I have loved you, saith the Lord. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the Lord: yet I loved Jacob,

3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the Lord of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord hath indignation for ever.

5 And your eyes shall see, and ye shall say, The Lord will be magnified from the border of Israel.
the jacob and esau being referred to are nations, not necessarily the actual individuals.

characteristics associated with jacob include a willingness to accept his faults and limitations (humble heart), while esau was the opposite- proud, arrogant, resistant to God, etc.

God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.

Igbo is an Igbo regardless if they have been contaminated with other etnicities or not
smh.

what would you tell a child that has an igbo father and an Edo mother?? That she is not Igbo because she has been contaminated??

Ridiculous.
nigerian culture is patrilineal, meaning a child goes with his father's tribe unless there are circumstances that prevent him or her from doing so.
Celebrities › Re: Damilola Adegbite: The New Omotola Of Nollywood? by tpia5: 2:21pm On Aug 18, 2012
Nothing wrong with showcasing new talent once in a while.

I saw a picture of wasiu or somebody's daughter the other day, and she's also rather pretty.

The problem is, what's going on with nigerian celebrities and marriage? Too many issues and controversy.
Culture › Re: The Hausa by tpia5: 2:15pm On Aug 18, 2012
Thanks.

You can also use the search function.

I just did, and immediately found at least three threads addressing the subject.

You were on two of them, and posted pictures of non-nigerian fulani on one.

Misapplication of google, dear.

Anyway, the emir has hausa blood, or if you can find a better way to explain why he looks hausa, then lets hear it on a different thread preferably.

You seem to be confusing him with the sultan of sokoto.
