hypeman: Everything about you is weird..

Were you born in the medieval age or something??

And can't you see those men are obese?? They're in the army for crying out loud.. undecided undecided
in what way are those men obese?

make your point without calling people names, so you dont look like you were raised by a mountain gorilla.

because they're not skinny like buhari [whose own stature is genetic] that means they're obese? ? huh

or is it because they're not displaying six pack that's making you tag them as obese?

those of us who are overseas get all kinds of dumped on by all kinds of people- its not every problem that has a solution.

but if you want to make an issue of it- your prerogative.

i gat my own stuff i'm dealing with.

seun and his crew believe they enjoy some measure of immunity, hence the smugness.

anyone that wants to leave should leave and anyone that wants to stay should stay, soldier go soldier come barrack go remain,
true talk.

if there is another reason behind all that seun is afraid to tell us
of course there's another reason.

as per his motives- best known to him but of course it must involve money.
Tpia I don't think that's what he is saying. The smartness or lack thereof. . . of both genders are not mutually exclusive.

He is saying set on an even playing field, girls tend to do better than their male counter parts.
hmm, interesting hypothesis.

I registered since 2006 whn NL was still building up not now that BH and ALQUEIDA members are already part of the family.
thank you.

all kinds of crooks and criminals parading around freely, being made mods, just doing whatever they like without fear of reprimand, and without any element of common sense.

this is a horrible state of affairs.
Literature › Re: Society Of Young Nigerian Writers Starts Ibadan Book Club by tpia5: 7:45pm On Jul 19, 2012

i dont think the thread should be limited to nigerian authors only.

Ifez: Measuring Time by Helon Habila

Everything Good Will Come by Seffi Atta

There was this one I read last year about four Naija ladies that immigrated to the US and the fun lives they led. It read like a chick-Lit but I can't remember the name of the novel and the author. It was a good read sha.
please drop the name of the book if you're still on nl and can remember it.

political topics should be debated in politics or general section if the mods cant patrol the thread.

this thread has nothing to do with literature despite literary being in the title.

but make una carry on- i already know i speak in greek.

if she's 29 that means there's no time to waste.

if you'd said 22 or 24 then different scenario.

coogar: there might be some iota of truth in the article! a girl born n bred in the same environment with a boy is usually smarter than the boy!
dont know about that.

are you saying being raised with girls will dumb down a boy? huh

girls are generally smarter than the boys of the same age!
i personally havent found this to be true.

Good point.

As per all this nl name calling ( gosh, so tiresome) and by name calling i mean constantly trying to suck up to the SAME SET OF PEOPLE everytime, whatever happened to the barbeque thingy where all the popular jingos used to meet up to celebrate themselves?

Why not revive that instead of continually relying on the same set of namesevery single time in a bid to prove what exactly?

Someone will open thread: ok, here's a topic. Only nlers X Y and Z should respond because imo they are the only ones who are esteemed enough to do so.

Dont even get me started on romance section which now functions as a bad satellite of joke section.

Thanks for explaining however.

Seems you folks keep your stuff undercover, so to speak.
Literature › Re: African Literature Is Dying by tpia5: 3:00pm On Jul 19, 2012
^ is it a book club or a library?

Book club is when a group of people read and discuss a particular book within a given time frame. The books are obtained separately by the club members.

What you described sounds more like a library which is a place where books are physically kept.
Literature › Re: Nairaland's Literary & Debating Day - You Are Cordially Invited! by tpia5: 2:57pm On Jul 19, 2012
Still trying to find out what the actual correlation is between literature and literary and debating but yall should carry on.

Havent read the thread btw (for this reason) although i saw the thread title and opening post.

But reasoning with nlers is like talking to a rock. Juju practitioners can explain that but its not my type of thing.

How old is your fiancee?

If she can afford to wait another year or so then you can probably go ahead with your own plans.

If not, then its up to you which path to take.

You can also consider a low key ceremony such as a quiet engagement and a registry wedding, if there are no objections to such from any quarter.

But if your finances arent where you want them to be, this might lead to more stress after the marriage, unless you have another source of income.

You actually might have a point there.

Family › Re: Women Have Higher IQs Than Men, Says Science by tpia5: 2:15pm On Jul 19, 2012
Its obviously self evident the writer of the article is in error.

What is less evident is the reason why another erroneous study claiming black women are the ugliest of all races, generated intense interest and even intense support from some black males.

Will the marriage deplete your savings or in what way exactly will it affect your wealth?
