afam4eva:every part of yorubaland has the darkest people. |
afam4eva:oyos have the highest percentage of fair people in the southwest, imo. actually, the level of fairness might be evenly distributed, not that people consider it important. |
yorubas have a saying eni bi ni lan jo or something like that. the fact of the matter remains you will look like your father and mother, and as such there's very few "surprises" when it comes to genealogy. and the yoruba look is rarely confused with other ones, ie people know what they're supposed to look like. in some instances, there might be similarities between hausa and yoruba, but that's not surprising. also, in a few cases where a child looks like neither the father or mother, it will look like a relative- possibly a grandparent. so, to claim a yoruba is actually igbo, is laughable at best because all that shows is the person has KNOWN igbo lineage to begin with, and most likely from the mother's side. |
ezeagu:well, i've pointed out before that the nigerian govt needs to conduct a study to find out if the fertility rate in nigeria is dropping, and why. ie why exactly are babies being bought and sold in the country. however, many of the kids are indeed shipped outside to various destinations. ![]() ezeagu:i'm waiting for the full story you're referring to. |
ezeagu:what percentage of the 140 million. and besides, a lot of the babies end up outside nigeria. ezeagu:are you referring to the tale of moremi. |
Are talking about groups like Bassa which cover one village?bassa claims to have their people all over the west african coast- from nigeria to gambia. their own is another story entirely. ![]() Ishan is among the top 20 or even 10 ethnic groups in Nigeria so it's obvious they will be tested.i think you mean a lot of ishans are on the www and in IT so they were added to the "database". Think ekpoma. |
ezeagu:you're the one getting angry, not me. kindly post any links to stories of aboriginal non-yoruba people being pushed out of anywhere in yorubaland. the claims of igbos being the aboriginal owners of the southwest has been brought up here on nl a few times, and those who base their knowledge on nl postings might be erroneously taking it as fact. |
ezeagu:nigeria alone has over 300 ethnic groups how how would africa be limited to 160. |
ezeagu:outside of the southwest is among the most creolized part of nigeria. if by absorption you're referring to the claim of igbos being the "original owners" of yorubaland then have a good day. |
anywhere you see snail, you see slime. |
see how they dragged two "yorubas" [vs one from each of the other two tribes] and yes, both "yorubas" turned out "igbo" or whatever. whereas we all know the highest percentage of creolized nigerians are in the east, southsouth and midwest. with some percentages in the north. who be mugu and maga here. and yes, the "igbo yoruba" went to his parents who then "confessed" he was an "adopted igbo". Tribe no dey show for face now. any nollywood movie in the works here? ![]() hope it will feature a popular nigerian leader who is known to be from a particular tribe ![]() |
@ topic seems to me like the whole thing is another attempt to try to reduce the yoruba population and as such, the thread is suspect. can we stop all these expansionist attitudes please. nigerian infrastructure is still underdeveloped so why dont we work towards developing our towns and villages and lobby for improved amenities as well. |
And also why must we always claim our fathers' tribe and not recognize our mothers' when asked what tribe we come from, after all the mother's dna is the strongest of the two.you can claim your mother's tribe in ghana, which is a matrilineal society. in nigeria, you only claim your mother's tribe if you dont know your father, or was estranged from him since birth. however, you can acknowledge your mother's tribe if you feel it's wise to do so. |
EzeUche:in what way are you contradicting what i said? ![]() |
We do realize that ethnic/clan membership isn't strictly traced by 'genetics', right?i hope we do realize that. |
yoruba 2 went back to his parents with the results, and in the midst discovered that his mother and father are not his biological, so after growing up a yoruba boy and now at 25 years of age finding out that you belong to another tribe, should that change anything?i doubt it. see the effects of baby farms oh. that woman who claimed she had 8 children in 1 year- those kids are also from various tribes as anyone can see from their appearance. They'll probably never know their birth parents [nobody does actually] and the scary thing is some of these kids are shipped out of the country to conditions and places worse than nigeria. |
when ezeuche first posted his photo here i did point out he looks very much like a yoruba. as for the efik/igbo thingy- what difference is there besides culture. |
have no fear. are you saying seun has personalized info of what linda ikeji is referring to? i'm still amazed at the way the guy just jumped me as if something else dey the matter. |
in an ideal world, emotions are subject to reason. In the actual world, they're not. laws exist because there's a need to address the imbalance which is often inevitable. |
.maybe he even contributed to them in some waywhat way was that? ![]() |
how quickly we forget tina and ike. |
@tpia and who are you to cast stone on me for things i do willingly? if there is anyone pulling himself down that person is your with your silly imagination claiming to be saint
you're the one casting stones on yourself. seriously, why are you so miserable? ![]() |
and when wont he pounce on the housegirl. |
^^you're pulling yourself down. stop blaming your failures on imaginary enemies. you're doing a better job of self-destruction than any enemy ever could. |
