Family / Truth: For Some Pple, Marriage Isn't What They Want, They Prefer Being Divorced by tpiander: 4:38pm On Feb 08, 2020 |
You can't ignore the fact they seem much better when they are not in a marriage. Many women in particular can attest to this fact. It doesnt mean a lot of folks (Nigerians) wouldn't be very unhappy and sad if they're divorced though. But for others, they feel the benefits of freedom and independence in making decisions that help them, after a divorce. A quick glance through most of the topics and posts in family section of nl, for example, would clearly show just how much a woman is expected to put up with in the name of marriage. The men would faint or run away if asked to experience similar situations. So, how many women can keep on enduring all types of inhumane treatment just for the sake of marriage? Not everyone, just saying. Likewise the men when it applies. But for Nigerians, the woman is the one at a disadvantage 9 times out of 10. Unless she's a fire breathing witch or just very wicked, she would be the underdog. Some people simply aren't into marriage, and that's ok. We are all at different levels of evolving emotionally, some of us are still working out and coming to terms with our old experiences, our backgrounds, what we had to endure as Nigerians growing up, the poverty, etc. Marriage might intensify these emotions, instead of easing them. Sometimes people need time to mature, and come to terms with who they are now, never having left who they used to be. 1 Like |

AshiraWealthy: Romance section should actually be for females only, since females are heavily over represented in romance. My thread is more general because it specifies why do you visit, as opposed to the implication females are visitors while males are the owners of the section. https://www.quora.com/Will-women-read-a-romance-novel-written-by-a-man https://psmag.com/social-justice/dont-men-read-romance-novels-misogyny-femininity-publishing-books-92921 https://www.writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/questions-and-quandaries/publishing/are-men-writing-romance |
