YES we were switched to the new system. Like I said it was painful to spend 6 years instead of 5. Many tried to beat the system by writing GCE before the newly-introduced SSCE so that they could go to UNI early. It worked for some, but didn't for others. The Minister of Education then (in my SS3) was Jibril Aminu.
Those subjects I talked about were combined into Business Studies (Typing, Shorthand and Business Method), Social Studies (History, Geography and Civic Education) etc.

i think most students who went to federal govt colleges, enjoyed it there nonetheless (not speaking from personal experience). Like I pointed out earlier, those are considered elite schools.

the transition to 6334 was probably more pronounced because you were the pioneer set.

the older system before the one which preceded 6334, was also 6 years in secondary school.
