Hi all. I promised to give testimony last week.

I registered on freelancer immediately i came across this thread about 4 weeks ago. then I told myself "not that fast". I came back and read every single page of the thread, updated my profile and started bidding. Since i have never written any article before coupled with the fact that most article projects I saw had so many stringent rules like "must be ready to write 8 articles in a day at $1.25 per article" I decided to bid more on academic projects afterall, if dem no see me for office dem no dey write technical report. last week monday I was awarded a project to develop courses for an academic website I did the job and the employer was very impressed. he gave me very good review and I finished within the stipulated time. The project is a long term one so long as i can think of good topics to upload on the website. I earned my first 20 usd last week. The employer has contacted to do another course content this week he said he really loved my work.

Fast forward to today another monday rajat007 wants to award me an article writing project at $1.25 per article. he is even asking for 250 to 300 words sample on a specific topic. I was bidding on article writing projects so as to develop my writing skill in that area and to get reviews but with all I have read abut rajat007 i no dey do plus i have a more juicy job at hand.

Thanks to Ladywriter Tranxo and others I have really learnt a lot. I will come back here t give more testimony

Kindly read the first part of the story again. I had 'ALREADY ACCEPTED THE OFFER' before we had that disagreement. If I had not, I would not need to apologise.

By already accepting the offer, a contract is already 'technically' in place so she can rate me very poorly and at this initial stage on the site, I cannot afford to do anything that will make my ratings drop so I am in a fix.

That was why ladywriter started her response with a 'Hmmmh!' because she understands the degree to which I had committed myself before the employer's tone changed.

I am the one at a disadvantage not the employer. It is not time to be arrogant and defend my rights. It is a reputation management situation and I am an individual not a multi national corporation like Coca Cola that can afford not to beg.

In some cases, it is wiser to appear weak and cowardly than to appear puffed up and arrogant like a know-it-all and loose the battle. I assure you, I know I did not do anything wrong but this is not a 'claim my right' situation.

Thank you so much my sister and mentor. I will just research the topic of the book and create an outline then send it to her and wait to see if she corresponds before I start major work.

They live in advanced societies where a couple of a hundred dollars or more means nothing. I am at the receiving end if I invest my electricity, gen fuel, and internet data that doesn't come cheap into a project and I do not get paid.

And because a lot of them have been conditioned under the affluence of the world they live in, they can be very unforgiving. That's probably why she cannot genuinely accept that I misunderstood her. God has several more projects lined up for me so if this one does not go through, I will still praise Him for showing me the handwriting on the wall.

I don't think I will do even a $10 job for anyone on that site without setting up milestones. It took several days of persistent harassment before the one that was owing me finally gave up and paid. And it was $8 but this one is a $177 project. I don't want to go through that embarrassing and frustrating situation ever again.

Guy run for your life o! only do projects with milestonnes. Any employer wey no pay milestone just want rip you off. Ladywriter has emphasized so much on that

I have a question, I don't know if anyone has experienced something familiar. I am currently working for a client and the project is going to be in 7 batches, he has created 2 milestones for the first two batches done, but he said he will only release the milestones after the 7 batches must have been completed (that should be in about 4-5 days)
I am worried. is it possible that he will refuse to release the milestones after the whole project has been completed? what are problems that may arise if I go ahead with this project?
