A man is currently on the run after shooting his brother-in-law to death over his wife’s infidelity in Amukpe, Sapele, Delta state.

The wife had earlier confessed to having sexual intercourse with her husband’s elder brother, Pius.

Furious, the husband stormed his wife’s family house with a gun and a confrontation led to the shooting to death of the wife’s brother .

Members of the wife’s family then marched down to Pius’ residence and set it ablaze. However, the fleeing husband’s family retaliated by also razing down the family house of the unfaithful wife.

Rivers police launch search for boyfriend who strangled his girlfriend inside Port Harcourt hotel

The police in Rivers state are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a lady, Precious Maureen Ewuru, who was found dead in a hotel room in D/Line Port Harcourt, Rivers state on Thursday August 1st.

Preliminary investigation by the police shows that Precious came into the hotel on Wednesday night July 31st and made a reservation. Later, she was joined by a man believed to be her boyfriend. By Thursday morning August 1st, her corpse was discovered by the hotel staff with the man not anywhere in sight.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, said the lady was allegedly strangled to death by her boyfriend. He said the matter is still being investigated as the suspect left traces which the police is currently working on.

“He killed her and locked the room, but unfortunately for him he left some traces which the police is now working on that could lead to his arrest. Any one whose daughter or Sister has not come home in the last two days should contact the police at the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID to identify the corpse.” he said

The police in Ogun have arrested an alleged illegal substance dealer caught with 17 bags of suspected Marijuana.

Daniel Elimuya, a resident of 9, General Hospital Street, Iyana-Ira in Agbara, was arrested around 6:30pm on July 28 at Ibafo.

It was gathered that the suspect had starched the weeds inside a vehicle he rode in from Delta State enroute Lagos.

The Nation gathered that the police received tip off on the vehicle and its content, laid ambush for the described vehicle with registration number GGE782EX and intercepted it.

Confirming the arrest, police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent (DSP) said the bags were well hidden inside the vehicle and were discovered after thorough searches.

He said the suspect was promptly arrested and he confessed to have been a Marijuana distributor and was going to Lagos Island to deliver the bags to one Kofo.

“The Commissioner of Police Bashir Makama has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect and exhibits to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for further investigation.

Aliyu Suleiman, the corps member shot during the clash between members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria and the police in Abuja has been discharged from hospital.

NYSC in a statement confirming the development said it will offset the medical bills of the corps member attached to Leadership Newspaper and also monitor his post-discharge health condition.

Narrating how he got shot in the clash that claimed the life of another NYSC member and Channels TV reporter Precious Owolabi, Aliyu said;

”We heard gunshots close to us, while our driver was about to turn, I couldn’t feel my arm, it was then I realised that I was hit by a bullet and I immediately notified my CDS Officer, Mrs Adama Anabel, who called the attention of the NYSC-FCT Management on the incident.

”I thank God, NYSC, NYSC-FCT Governing Board and National Hospital Abuja for coming to my aid and for the free medical treatments received.”

It was further learnt that before leaving the National Hospital in Abuja, the Chairman NYSC FCT Governing Governing Board Hajiya Safiya Umar who was represented by Director of Youth Development Mrs Hajarat Ayandele, visited the violent clash victim and presented a token for his welfare.

No fewer than seven persons died in an accident involving a Peugeot 206 and a Golf 3 car along Maigatari road, in Maigatari Local Government Area of Jigawa.

SP Abdu Jinjiri, the spokesman of the state Police Command, told newsmen in Dutse on Monday that the accident occurred on Sunday around 1:30 p.m.

He said the incident occurred after the driver of the Peugeot car coming from Kano lost control and crossed to the opposite lane, where it had head-on collision with an oncoming Golf 3 car.

The spokesman added that seven occupants of the vehicles died on the spot, while the two drivers and nine others sustained various degrees of injury.



“Yesterday, at about 2 p.m., the police in Maigatari LGA received information that at about 1:30 p.m., one Rabilu Ahmad aged 30 of Koki quarters in Dala LGA Kano state was driving a Peugeot 206 ash colour with Reg No. TRN 948 AE heading to Malammadori.

“On reaching Kwalande village in Maigatari LGA, he lost control and crossed to the opposite lane where he had a head collision with an oncoming Golf 3 vehicle green colour with Reg No. FW 94 ABJ driven by one Mohammed Aminami aged 30 of Dapchi LGA in Yobe state.

“As a result, seven occupants of the vehicles died on the spot while the two drivers and nine others sustained injuries,” the spokesman said.

According to him, upon receipt of the information, the police rushed to the scene and evacuated the corpses and the injured victims to Gumel General Hospital, in Gumel local government area of the state.

Jinjiri further stated that the injured victims are currently on admission and responding to treatment, as investigation was ongoing.
