Modrovdeux: This is my final comment on this thread
The problem with this thread is not that some states are benefiting at the expense of others, but that some people are willing to use the old weapons of bigotry and hate against those they don't agree with.
Well, the thing is, hate is destrcutive to those who wield it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon.
Well, I have been associanted with this site for the last 9 years. I thought I would take a break from it, but I came back here....well I think that this is my last comment on this site forever. I am not coming back again.
It seems that most Nigerians tend to spend too much time crying, and too less time doing things, or finding solutions. That's why we are prey to all sorts of demagouges..religious or poltical.
Well, it has been a nice time here. Now is the time to fly off this site.
My last words are not mine...

Dat restaurant isnt turning over 25 million naira annually.... No be only u dey go Maiduguri....some of us do go thier as well. You are a clown. So because they now stay opposite first bank now means they re less popular or weren't existing other places in Borno before?? Abeg gerrout. |

tolguy: THEY ARE NOT PAYING VAT BECAUSE YOU'RE AN ILLITERATE WHO DON'T KNOW THAT FOODSTUFFS ARE EXEMPTED FROM VAT, THIS CLEARLY SHOWS THAT MOST SOUTHERNERS ARE SCAMMERS THEY'RE EXTORTING THEIR CUSTOMERS IN THE NAME OF VAT, NAIRALAND HANDLERS ARE ILLITERATES AND BIGOTS U see how u disgraced ur family and lineage here. Food sold in restaurants and hotels are taxed as they re not food stuffs. Cooked food sold for profits are taxed. Go and check ur tax laws, oponu |

uyiv: OP, you are the one making the mistake here. The finance act 2020 has removed the burden of registering and charging VAT from small companies. Small companies are those that have an annual turnover of less than 25 million naira. A small company in Nigeria thereby has the option of not charging and remitting VAT to the FIRS. It is possible the restaurant in Borno is a small company while that in PH is a large company. It is also possible that the company in PH is a small company and has chosen the option to charge and remit VAT or they don't just know. The restaurant in Borno is not a small one. Hebron food in Borno is as popular as jevnik or genesis in rivers state |

Modrovdeux: Meaning you have no facts at all to back up your assertions.
You fail statistics forever.
So, using your method, if a young woman in your village lies, we can assume everyone in your village is a liar.
Good evening, and grow up. What you are doing is wrong, and the sad thing is that you will go to church on Sunday and call yourself a Christian. Or a morally good person. And before you start...I don't support APC, i NEVER voted for Buhari, I think that states should colelct whatever tax they want, but lying is not good.
And you sir...are a liar and a bigot. I don't argue with clowns. |

Politics › Re: Why Is Borno State Not Paying VAT? (Photos) by Trimjos(op): 9:23pm On Sep 19, 2021 |
Modrovdeux: 1.How many restaurants did you visit in both Borno and Rivers before you made the assumption that 'Borno pays no vat'.?
2.Did you interview the owner of the restaurant in Borno about his VAT paying habits...whether he pays VAT separate from the price on food.?
3.Have you done a study on the VAT paying habits of restaurants in Borno vs Restaurants in Rivers?
4.Have you also done a study on VAT per state in the country?
5.Are you also aware that there is a war on in Borno, and VAT colelction may not be as effective as in the relatively peaceful Rivers?
I hope you have some decent answers OP...and no , I am not here to fight you...I jsut want the facts on which you assume that Borno pays no VAT...
Because I can assume, using your method, that a single girl in your village who sleeps around means all the girls in your state are prostitutes, or a single boy in your village who steals means all the boys in your village are thieves. You can go and do those ones. |

Modrovdeux: This thread seems to have been set up for the sole purpose of tribal war.
There are a lot of sane reasons and points to refute this thread but since doing so would open one to.abuse and being called an aboki, I won't make any comments
But one thing I have to say to op and his supporters; You have some really funny statistics going on here. Also , as someone has said elsewhere, the owner of the Borno restaurant pays vat separately.
Good evening anyway. We have beaten the North Vat is charged on the food you are buying and shown on the receipt. There's no excuse here. |

eakenbor: Stupid fallacy of generalization. Eat in every restaurant in Maiduguri and in PH before you reach a conclusion. Mister man shut up. I have eaten virtually in all restaurants in Maiduguri. The receipt I attached is like the biggest restaurant in Maiduguri. Go and make ur findings |

So attached are two food receipts from restaurants in Maiduguri Borno state and Portharcourt Rivers state where I went to eat.
It clearly shows VAT are collected in Rivers, but not Borno and most other northern states. I have been to Adamawa, Yobe, Kebbi, Taraba, Bauchi and host of other northern states.
NOTE: I took the pics myself. First one is from Maiduguri, while the second is from portharcourt; and they re all from this month.
