Elder statesman and prominent politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakassai, has disclosed that massive rigging took place in the North in the 2015 general elections.
Yakassai revealed the electoral fraud to journalists when he led the newly formed Northern Leaders Stakeholders Assembly to former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, at his Uphill Mansion in Minna, the Niger State capital yesterday.

He cited instances of manipulation in the elections. According to him, while the electronic voting was religiously observed in the southern part of the country, it was not so observed in the north.

He remarked: “When the electronic voting was introduced, I was in support of it, but I observed what happened in the 2015 general election and I changed my mind.

“This is because it was religiously observed in the southern part of the country, but it was not so religiously observed in the northern parts of the country. It was from that moment that I began to have some reservations about the electronic voting pattern.

“There are many ways of rigging election. What happened in 2015 where the majority of southerners resident in the north were scared away from their places of residence, where they had registered, to their place of origin and therefore could not have the opportunity to vote, was rigging.


Again some of the southerners who did not run away were afraid to come out and vote on the day of election. So scaring people from coming out to vote for the candidates of their choice is also a form of rigging.”

The 2015 election led to the emergence of Major- General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), a northerner, as president while the then incumbent, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, a southerner, lost.

Earlier at the meeting with Babangida, he lamented that most leaders of northern extraction had for long taken the support of northerners for granted, stressing that henceforth, it would not be business as usual.

Yakassai said they were at Babangida’s house to inform the former leader of the objectives of the organisation dedicated to the unity and progress of the north.

Babangida praised the efforts of the group and assured them of his support as long as they worked for the unity of Nigeria.

Also at the meeting were Senator Joseph Waku, Alhaji Ghali Na Abba, Dr. Mohammed Data, Alhaji Abba Hana, Hajiya Inna Corona, Hajiya Zainab Main, Gimbia Rani, Alhaji Bala Mohammed and Dr. Umaru Babangida Aliyu, among others.

Leader of the Biafra Independence Movement, BIM, and founder of the Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazuruike yesterday claimed that Nigeria would break into six different republics before 2023.
According to him, the present ‘pigeonholed six geo-political zones of the country’, namely South-East, South-South, South-West, North-Central, North-East and North-West, would metamorphose into the six republics, with South-East becoming the long agitated New Biafra, while South-South becomes Niger-Delta Republic, just as South-West and North-Central become Oduduwa and Middle-Belt Republics respectively, leaving North-East and North-West as Arewa Republic.

In a statement issued yesterday in Onitsha, Anambra state, shortly after BIM’s Anambra South Zonal meeting held at Uga, Aguata Local Government Area of the state, Uwazuruike who was represented by a member of Biafra Elders–in-council, Mazi Chris Mocha, observed that “the obvious lack of trust in the relationship or union between the northern and southern Nigeria is too inexplicable that Nigerians cannot continue to co-exist as one nation.”

Uwazuruike contended that “the faulty amalgamation of the northern and southern Nigeria in 1914 which expired since January 2014, also made it imperative that the country must surely break up in the near future, based on Biafran constitution which provided that any section of the country that is dissatisfied with the union will be at liberty to secede.”

He therefore urged Biafra leaders “to ensure that the federation is run in such a way that the citizens would be happy at all times and willing to belong to Biafra without being forced to do so.”

He insisted that “it was only in a corrupt country like Nigeria where illegality thrives that citizens are forced to live together and always show allegiance to the state”, adding, “we do not deserve Biafra if the emerging republic cannot be better than Nigeria.”

Wow!! I feel like I'm dreaming but this is reality. I'm so dumbfounded, I can barely speak. Last year, I scored 270 in thr UTME but the University of Ilorin didn't deem me fit to study Medicine as I was offered Home Economics. This really got to me, I remember crying all day long but today, God has put smiles on my face.

Why do we use different tone in reciting Qur'an During prayers when Allah clearly state in the holy Qur'an in Sura Al Isra ayat 110- that we should recite Qur'an neither in a loud nor in a low voice but follow a way between.

For example we recite The holy Qur'an in a loud tone During Salat fajr, magrib nd isha while we recite Qur'an neither in a low voice nor in a loud tone but completely mute in solat zuhr and isha.

Didn't this our practice contradicts The Qur'an?

We ask Allaah to guide you, and to ward off evil and immorality from you, and to make you one of His sincerely-devoted slaves. For Allaah may delay but He never forgets. How can you be sure that when Allaah sees you committing this sin, He is not going to say, “By My Glory and Majesty, I will not forgive you”?

Look at these physical faculties with which you are committing sin. Do you not see that Allaah is able to deprive you of their blessings and to cause you the pain of losing them?

Then look at how Allaah has concealed you (your sin) and has been patient and forbearing with you. You know about His protective jealousy over His slaves, so how can you be sure that He will not become angry with you and expose your affairs, so that people will come to know your secrets and you will suffer scandal in this world before the Hereafter?

Will you get anything from haraam (unlawful) looks apart from grief, misery and darkness in the heart?

Even if you feel some pleasure for a day or two, or for a month or a year… what will come after that?

Death… then the grave… then the Reckoning… then torment, when all pleasure will vanish and only sorrow will remain.

If you feel ashamed to let your brother see you committing this sin, then how can you think of Allaah as the least important of those who watch you?

Do you not know that Allaah can see you, and that His angels are recording your deeds, and that tomorrow (i.e., on the Day of Resurrection) your own limbs will speak of what used to happen?

Think about what will become of you after you sin: worry and distress in the heart, alienation between you and Allaah, loss of humility… you give up praying at night (qiyaam al-layl)… you forsake fasting… Tell me, by your Lord, what is this life worth?

Every time you look at these devilish screens, a black spot appears on your heart, until it is covered with layers of blackness, then by the raan (stain) which overwhelms the heart, and deprives you of the pleasure of obeying Allaah and of the sweetness of faith.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “When a slave commits a sin, a black spot appears on his heart. But if he give it up, seeks forgiveness and repents, his heart will be cleansed, but if he repeats it, (the blackness) will increase until it overwhelms his heart. This is the raan which Allaah mentions: ‘Nay! But on their hearts is the Raan (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn’ [al-Mutaffifeen 83:14 – interpretation of the meaning].”

(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3257; Ibn Maajah, 4234; classed as hasan (sound) by al-Albaani in Saheeh Ibn Maajah, 3422).

So be among those who give up sin, seek forgiveness and repent. Beseech Allaah frequently to purify your heart and protect your chastity, and to grant you refuge from the traps of the Shaytaan.

Avoid everything that may call you to haraam things or remind you of them, if you are sincere and really want to repent.

Hasten to get this (satellite) dish out of your house, and cut your connection to these bad sites on the internet. Note that the best means of helping yourself give up the haraam things that you have gotten used to is to nip it in the bud, and ward off every thought of looking that crosses your mind, before it becomes a desire, wish or intention, and then an action.

Al-Ghazzaali (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: “If the first inward thought is not warded off, it will generate a desire, then the desire will generate a wish, and the wish will generate an intention, and the intention will generate the action, and the action will result in ruin and divine wrath. So evil must be cut off at its root, which is when it is simply a thought that crosses the mind, from which all the other things follow on.” (Ihyaa’ ‘Uloom al-Deen, 6/17).

This is based on the words of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning):

“O you who believe! Follow not the footsteps of Shaytaan (Satan). And whosoever follows the footsteps of Shaytaan (Satan), then, verily, he commands Al-Fahsha’ [i.e. to commit indecency (illegal sexual intercourse)], and Al-Munkar [disbelief and polytheism (i.e. to do evil and wicked deeds; and to speak or to do what is forbidden in Islam)]”

[al-Noor 24:21]

If you can do without the Internet altogether, then go ahead and do that, until you feel that your heart and your faith are stronger.

Strive to find righteous friends, strive to perform all the prayers on time, and do a lot of naafil (voluntary) acts of worship. Avoid being alone and thinking about haraam things as much as possible.

Sincerity in seeking treatment opens the door to good, and closes the door to evil.

We ask Allaah to enable us and you to repent sincerely.

And Allaah knows best.

Breaking News: UN Votes Unanimously To Rejects Trump's Decision On Recognition Of Jerusalem As Israel's Capitall

The United Nation (UN) General Assembly has decisively backed a resolution effectively calling on the US to withdraw its recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The text says that any decisions regarding the status of the city are "null and void" and must be cancelled.

According BBC News, the non-binding resolution was approved by 128 states, with 35 abstaining and nine others voting against. It came after US President Donald Trump threatened to cut financial aid to those who backed the resolution.

Before the vote, the Palestinian foreign minister urged member states to reject "blackmail and intimidation".

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meanwhile said it would reject the anticipated result "outright" and dismissed the UN as a "house of lies".

What is so contentious about Jerusalem's status?

The status of Jerusalem goes to the heart of Israel's conflict with the Palestinians. Israel occupied the east of the city in the 1967 Middle East war and regards the entire city as its indivisible capital. The text put forward by Turkey and Yemen does not mention the US, but expresses "deep regret at recent decisions concerning the status of Jerusalem".

The controversy surrounding the Nigeria Bar Association and the Unilorin student who was denied a call to Nigeria Bar has been generating controversy since two days now. Even the President of Nigeria Bar Association have waded into the controversy as promised that everything will be resolved as soon as possible.

The former Aviation Minister Chief Femi Fani-Kayode (SAN) has blamed the student in question Amasa Firdaus, who was denied ‘call to bar’ by officials of the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for failing to remove her veil, otherwise known as hijab.

Fani kayode said Firdaus was only being childish and disingenuous as Nigeria is a secular state and she cannot insist on wearing a religious garb during a secular ceremony. The former minster, while reacting via his Twitter handle said;

”The girl that insisted on wearing her hijab during her call to the Nigerian bar was being childish and disingenuous. ”You cannot insist on wearing religious garb during a secular ceremony and she is not the first Muslim to be called to the Nigerian bar. Nigeria is a secular state.”

The President of Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, A.B. Mahmoud, SAN, has promised that the Association would look into the circumstances in which Amasa Firdaus, a graduate of University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) was prevented from being called to the Bar on Tuesday.

Firdaus was said to have been denied entry into the hall where the ceremony held by officials of the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for failing to remove her ‘hijab’ covering as directed.

The prospective call to bar candidate reportedly insisted on wearing her hijab in adherence to her religious beliefs and refused entreaties to do otherwise. She was subsequently locked out and could not participate in the ceremony.

Firdaus’ plight has garnered nationwide attention and has been the subject of a debate about the constitutional right to freedom of worship and the obligation to respect laid out rules. A call for Firdaus to be admitted to the Bar has also been trending with the hashtag #JusticeForFirdaus.

Joining the discussion Friday afternoon, NBA President Mahmoud referred to Olufunke Abimbola, a Nigerian lawyer based in the United Kingdom (UK) who was recently honoured by Queen Elizabeth II for her contributions to promoting diversity in the legal profession.

Writing on his Twitter handle, @abmtwitt, Mr Mahmoud said Firdaus’ plight would be addressed while also adding that the NBA would embrace diversity.

“UK based Nigerian lawyer recognized for promoting diversity in the legal profession. The NBA will embrace diversity and tolerance in the Nigerian legal profession. The Hijab issue will be addressed,” Mahmoud said.

The NBA President went further to share a picture of his daughter being admitted to the New York Bar while wearing a hijab and declared that the argument over hijab in Nigeria was needless.

It should be said to the dying person, say: laa ilaaha illaa Allaah, remember your Lord. If he says it good, the dying person should not be shouted upon till he says shahaadah, if dhikr is done beside the dying person and he repeats it good and praise be to Allaah.

Is facing the dying person to the Qiblah legislated
Yes, that is encouraged according to the people of knowledge because of his statement (commendations and peace of Allaah be upon him): the Ka’bah is your Qiblah (direction); (when) alive and (when) dead.

What is the manner of facing the dying person to the Qiblah
He should be placed on his right side, with his face towards the Qiblah as is done in the tomb

Is it permissible to kiss the dead
There is no problem in kissing the dead if the woman who kisses him is one of his mahram or it’s a man that kisses him as Abu Bakr Siddeeq did to the messenger )commendations and peace of Allaah be upon him(.

Is it allowed for the washer to ask the family of the dead used to observe solah or not?
As long as he is apparently a Muslim and those who brought him are Muslims there’s no need to ask them. Some people may take that with levity which leads to leaking secrets, so also in solah upon, questions should not be asked about him if he is apparently a Muslim.

If the deceased had instructed that a particular person should wash him, should his instruction be acted upon?
Yes, his instruction should be acted upon.

Is it right for a man to wash his wife or a one or two years old daughter when she dies?
There is no problem in a man washing his wife and the woman washing her husband; because that has been reported in the sunnah from the messenger of Allaah and the pious predecessors of this ummah. But, it is not permissible for the man to wash other women than his wife including his mother …

Is it permissible to take away the moustache, armpit hairs, nails and pubic hairs?
Reducing the nails and moustache and trimming the nails is encouraged, but I don’t know any evidence for shaving the pubic hairs and removing the armpit hairs, it is better to leave them because they are hidden unlike fingernails and moustache.

If a person dies with golden tooth on him should it be removed from him if he owes debt even if the removal will not be easy or it should be left if there’s no debt on him?
If a person dies with gold or silver tooth on him there’s no problem in leaving it if pulling it will not be easy whether he owes a debt or not… if pulling it is easy it is obligatory to do so because it is wealth and should not be wasted.

Should the one who committed suicide be washed and prayed upon?
Prayer should be observed on the one who commits suicide and he should be buried in the cemetery of the Muslims because he is a sinner not a disbeliever; suicide is a sin not an act of disbelief. If a person kills himself –we seek refuge with Allaah- he should be washed, shrouded and prayed upon, but it is good for the grand Imam and those who have importance to avoid observing solah upon him as a deterrent; so that the people will not think he is pleased with the act. It is good if the grand Imam, Sultan, judges, head of towns or their Ameer avoid such (i.e. avoid attending such solah) to serve as a deterrent for this act and declaration that this is a misdeed but some people should pray on him.

I wish that you explain the way to observe Solah on the deceased as has been established from the messenger of Allaah because many are ignorant of it.
The messenger (commendations and peace of Allaah be upon him) and his companions (Allaah be pleased with them) have explained the way to observe solah of the deceased (Janazah).
It is that he first makes takbeer (Allaahu Akbar) then he seeks protection from the cursed shaitan then he mentions (the name of Allaah i.e. bismiLLaahi-r-Rahmaani-r-Raheem) and he recites suratul fatihah and a short chapter or some verses, then he makes tekbeer (says Allaahu Akbar) and he recites solah upon the messenger as he recites at the end of his (other) solah, then he makes a third tekbeer and prays for the deceased, the most preferred is to say “Allaahumma ighfir li hayyinaa wa mayyitinaa wa shaahidinaa wa ghaa’ibinaa wa sagheerinaa … Allaahumma laa tuharrimnaa ajrahu wa laa tudhillanaa ba’dahu”
All these were memorised from the messenger (commendations and peace of Allaah be upon him)… then he should make a fourth tekbeer and wait a little, then he should make a single tesleem to his right by saying: Asssalaamu alykum wa rahmatuLLaahi wa BarakaatuH.
It is recommended for the Imam to stand by the head of the male (corpse for prayer) and at the waist of the woman because it has been authentically reported from the messenger in the hadith of Anas and Samurah bn Jundub. But the statement of some scholars: The sunnah is to stand by the chest of the man, is a weak opinion which has no evidence as much as we know.
The deceased should be faced to the Qiblah while performing solah on him because of the words of the messenger (commendations and peace of Allaah be upon him) regarding the Ka’bah: “It is the direction of the Muslims; dead and alive”.

Is it right to specify a part of the cemetery for women and a part for men to make it easy to recognise the buried?
I don’t know any basis for this, what is legislated is that the grave should be for everyone because of the ease and simplicity in it also because this is what the Muslims have been upon since his time (commendations and peace of Allaah be upon him) till our time-according to our knowledge- Baqee’ (a cemetery at Madeenah) contained both men and women during his time (commendations and peace of Allaah be upon him). Every good is in following his way and the way of his companions and those who followed their way rightly.
