Israeli rescuers have recovered the bodies of two people killed after an Iranian ballistic missile hit the northern Israeli city of Haifa, Israeli media is reporting.

The fire and rescue service said the two had been trapped and were found under rubble without signs of life.

Rescue efforts were continuing to reach two other people who were trapped or unaccounted for, it quotes the service as saying.

Haaretz reported that a missile fired from Iran struck a residential building in Haifa on Sunday, igniting a fire and leaving the six-story structure at risk of collapse.

The Times has just now said rescue forces were responding to reports of a fresh ballistic missile attack in the Haifa area.

The impacts triggered a car fire and flipped over another vehicle, the report said, but there were no immediate reports of injuries

U.S. Air Force Fighter jet Strike Eagle has been found by residents in Southern Iran, the whereabouts or status of the pilot and weapons officer is currently unknown, with unconfirmed reports that one or both of the crewmembers have been captured by members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu embraced a Mossad plan to spark a popular uprising at the start of the Iran war and is frustrated that those promises have not come to pass, according to a new report.

The report in The New York Times, published Sunday and citing current and former US and Israeli intelligence officials, says that Netanyahu discussed the plan when persuading US President Donald Trump to go to war against the Islamic Republic.

But it said US and Israeli officials now view the chances of regime change with skepticism and believe that conditions do not appear ripe for a popular uprising. Fears of a repeat of January’s murderous crackdown on demonstrators and danger from the US-Israeli bombing campaign have chilled prospects for more protests.

Israeli officials are still holding out hope of regime change, but the fact that a rebellion has yet to take place has dismayed Netanyahu, according to the Times. “Behind the scenes,” it said, Netanyahu “has expressed frustration that Mossad’s promises to foment revolt in Iran have not materialized.”

In one security meeting early in the war, the prime minister “complained that the plan was not working,” and vented that Trump “could decide to halt the campaign at any moment.”

The Israeli PM has called on world leaders to join the US-Israel war on Iran, speaking from the site of an attack in the southern Israeli city of Arad.

He claimed some countries were already moving in that direction, as he urged broader international involvement.

Netanyahu accused Iran of targeting civilians and claimed it had the capability to strike long-range targets deep into Europe.

The strikes on Dimona came as part of a sustained Iranian missile campaign that has targeted the Negev Desert city repeatedly. The Iranian missile that triggered sirens in Dimona and nearby towns was likely intercepted according to preliminary military assessments, marking the fifth Iranian attack on Israel since midnight.

Medics and rescue forces responded to reports of an impact in Dimona following Iran's latest ballistic missile fire, though it was not immediately clear whether the reports referred to a direct missile strike or falling fragments following an interception.

The attacks on southern Israel coincided with Hezbollah rocket fire from Lebanon targeting northern Israel, with sirens sounding simultaneously in the Western Galilee region around Nahariya.

Tehran: Iran's Oil Ministry has contradicted the US move to ease sanctions on Iran crude oil which is loaded on vessels as of March 20.

In a statement issued by Iran's consulate in Mumbai it was said, ‘At present, Iran essentially has no floating crude or surplus available for international markets. The U.S. Treasury Secretary’s remarks appear aimed at reassuring buyers and managing market sentiment.’

The denial from the Iranians could further spook an already volatile market that has seen crude oil prices spike as the West Asia conflict is poised to enter its fourth week.

Earlier, the United States on Friday (local time) announced temporarily easing of sanctions on Iranian-origin crude oil and petroleum products up until April 19 this year, including permitting the sale of Iranian crude and refined products into the United States.

The Trump administration has waived sanctions on Iranian oil purchases at sea for 30 days to ease surging oil prices driven by the US-Israeli war on Iran.

The US treasury secretary, Scott Bessent, said the waiver would bring about 140m barrels of oil to global markets and help relieve pressure on energy supply.

The move reflects White House concern that soaring oil prices – up about 50% to more than $100 a barrel, the highest since 2022 – will hurt US businesses and consumers ahead of the November midterm elections, when Republicans hope to retain control of Congress.

However, Bessent’s earlier suggestion of a waiver raised concerns that it could benefit Iran’s war effort.

It is the third time the US has temporarily waived sanctions in about two weeks.

It had previously eased sanctions on Russian oil, and on Friday issued a general licence allowing the sale of Iranian crude oil and petroleum products loaded on vessels as of Friday to 19 April, according to the licence posted to the US treasury website.

“By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran,” Bessent said in a statement on X.

The talks are taking place amid intense concern over maritime security in this critical sea passage, through which approximately one-fifth of the global oil trade flows. Tensions in the region, following the war that has erupted in the Middle East, have led to attacks on tankers and significant disruptions in energy markets. According to the same report, the initiative by Paris and Rome reflects the growing anxiety in Europe regarding the risk of energy flow interruptions and the skyrocketing of oil prices, which have already approached $100 per barrel.

Simultaneously, the talks have triggered disagreements within Europe, as some countries appear skeptical of direct contacts with Tehran. This development comes as European governments also consider military measures to protect navigation, such as ship escort missions or international naval missions, should the situation in the Strait of Hormuz continue to deteriorate.

Four of six members of a US military refuelling aircraft's crew have been confirmed dead after it crashed in western Iraq, US Central Command (Centcom) says.

Rescue efforts continue after the loss of the KC-135, it said, having earlier said neither hostile nor friendly fire were involved in the downing of the aircraft.

The tanker had been involved in ongoing US operations against Iran and was one of two aircraft involved in the incident. The second landed safely.

The Boeing-manufactured aircraft are capable of refuelling planes midair and typically play a major role in US military operations. They were used extensively in the first Gulf War to extend the range of fighter jets and bombers.

The US military command unit added that the identities of the personnel who had been killed were being withheld for 24 hours so their next of kin could be notified.
