The Nairaland Featuring system is quite simple, and this is how I think it works.

It is a simple blog-like system, that accepts PostTitle, PostUrl, FeaturedTime, and probably logs the ModName.

The PostTitle accepts bbcodes, the PostUrl can be altered too, the FeaturedTime is shown only when paginated, and the (Logged) mod name can be seen only by the superMods.

I think you hit the nail, if u check the topics on the front page compare to the url when u hover on it,it shows there is a mechanical system involved probably for seo purposes, i believe alll topics have a front page button attached to it also with an ability to alter to the heading.

Since yr main goal is to learn c++ my brother nothing stop u abeg, do not fall for what other people tell u u cant do this or that, serioulsy the first oop language i learnt was c++ when others were saying e too hard i don learn am already but a senior colleague told me c#/sqlserver was in the naija market so i had to go for c#.

Ok for me if u do not know about object oriented programming (oop) i will advise u first learn c# microsoft took time to develop that language make i no lie, the language sweet abeg using it with linq u can do many things, ok when u have the basics u can then go learn yr c++.

But a teacher ,who knows his stuff, will save you time and money. Lots of it.
If i could go back in time, to when i started learning programming and start all over again, they're things i'd do that would save my younger self, literally years of sweat. How much would that savings be worth? Millions of naira. So if you meet somebody who is very good, and wants to mentor you or teach you and he bills you top dollars, it is wiser to pay o. I know nigerians like things cheap, but in the long run, you'll see that time is money. If mark zuckerberg or linus torvalds were to teach you programming and charged you N1m most people would be focused on the money and the the value, these people would literally be teaching you to think like they think, to see code thru their eyes- they'd change your life. I aint no teacher or mentor. Just saying.

What u said really true, good; learning online very good if u are true to yrself and focused but but but if u have a teacher that will guide and lead u in the right path early you will save yrself countless months on things u might not understand ontime.

So op it is up to you u can learn online or u get a good teacher or mentor that will lead u through the basics, u can proceed on yr own from thereof

Ok Oga from the error " Cannot convert type 'double' to 'System.Collection" the compiler is saying wat u given it is a double variable while what it is given u is a collection object possibly a list of items u intend looping over. So declare a List<T> object of that same class [not a double], pass the collection to it then loop through the object u just created using " foreach (var item in object) {} "
