Pro-Biafra groups including the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) have been warned to stop including Ijaw land into their Biafra territories, by the Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide, New Telegraph reports.
The IYC made its comments via a statement released by its spokesman Daniel Dasimaka, on Monday August 15.

The statement read in part: “The Ijaw are a distinct ethnic nation, even before the 1914 amalgamation, that has its own dreams, wishes and aspirations that should not be submerged as footnotes in any other peoples’ struggles.
“We, the Ijaw people, are not Biafrans.
“Therefore, if or when any Ijaw person or group feels a sense of allegiance to Biafra and speak in its favor, let it be known that such statements are the personal opinions of such persons.
“They do not reflect the thoughts, views and wishes of the entire Ijaw nation and the Niger Delta people.”
The group further stated: “It is a known historical fact that a year before the world got to hear of the term Biafra Republic, the Ijaw led by the late Major Isaac Boro of blessed memory had declared a Niger Delta Republic in pursuit of the emancipation of the Niger Delta people which the progenitor of Biafra, late Col. Odumegwu Ojukwu, of blessed memory fought against as the then Governor of the old Eastern Region when the going was good with him in the Nigerian state. “It is also on record that a year before MASSOB was founded, the IYC, through the Kaiama Declaration, had affirmed ‘our commitment to joint struggle with the other ethnic nationalities in the region for self-determination.’
“We express our solidarity with all the peoples, organizations and ethnic nationalities in Nigeria and elsewhere who are struggling for self-determination and justice.”

John Ator who reportedly stole 2 basins of garri at Marian Market, Calabar, Cross River State capital escaped death after angry traders tried to set him on fire.
According to report, the suspect has been in the habit in stealing garri in the market but was apprehended on Wednesday, August 16.
According to one of the market managers who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the 25-year old had been stealing from them for a long time until they laid an ambush for him.
He said: “That is the case with this young man, John Ator, who is now caught as a garri thief who has been a thorn in the flesh of garri women traders at Marian Market, Calabar as he was caught stealing two basins of garri at the said market early hours of Wednesday.
“This act of stealing garri which has become a regular occurrence at the Marian market without knowing those behind the crime got to its peak when traders decided to lay ambush for the thief. Fortunately for the traders and unfortunately for the thief, luck ran out of him (Ator) and he was caught in the early hours."
Meanwhile, the Senate is to ensure the quick passage of two bills to discourage the peddling of hate speeches and

The Catalan club are attempting to turn the heads of their top targets as they desperately seek a replacement for Neymar by the end of this month
It is one of the worst-kept secrets in football. Tapping up of players has existed as long as transfers themselves and, even though it is against the rules, it happens all the time. This summer, however, Barcelona are taking the practice to extreme levels.
Pretty much all clubs do it and perhaps the most famous example of all was Ashley Cole, who was caught in a clandestine meeting with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, chief executive Peter Kenyon and his agent Jonathan Barnett while still an Arsenal player back in 2005. The left-back was found guilty and fined £100,000 by the Premier League.
Such punishment is unusual, however, and virtually all moves are discussed with agents, emissaries or a member of a player's entourage before a club is even contacted. The current Barcelona board took this a step forward in the controversial Neymar transfer, paying €10 million up front to the forward's family in 2011 to ensure a move would be completed in 2013.
Ironically, Barcelona ended up losing Neymar this summer after the negotiations went on behind their back. That provoked anger at the Catalan club, but Paris Saint-Germain were only doing exactly what the Blaugrana had been with Marco Verratti and all of their other transfer targets this summer. So they can have few complaints.
Earlier this summer, Barca thought they were convincing Verratti to move to Camp Nou and the player was certainly tempted, having previously spoken of his admiration for the Catalan club. However, he was unwilling to rock the boat in order to force a move and, amid talk of a possible strike, he was quickly filmed by PSG on his return to training in a video in which he spoke of how happy he was at the Parc des Princes. And that was the end of it.
Barca were also in touch with Theo Hernandez and Dani Ceballos over possible moves in June and July, but both players ended up signing for Real Madrid, who had also been in contact with the two players. Meanwhile, the selling clubs - Atletico Madrid and Real Betis, respectively -were left totally in the dark.
The strategy used by Barca is similar to the one utilised by Madrid under Florentino Perez: convince the footballer to join with the offer of big money and a huge club, tell him he has to push for a transfer and then open negotiations. Player power has such sway in the modern game that, once a footballer has decided he wants to leave for a bigger club, that is usually that.
Theo and Ceballos opted for Madrid, perhaps showing that Barca's powers of persuasion are not what they once were, while Arsenal's Hector Bellerin was unwilling to force his club's hand despite being keen on a return to the team where he began his career as a youth player. So, the Blaugrana bought Nelson Semedo from Benfica instead.
Like Semedo, recent signing Paulinho was talked into a move from Guangzhou Evergrande and the Brazilian midfielder told the Chinese club that he wanted to leave. So, there was little they could do to keep him. Barca had hoped to buy the 29-year-old for a smaller fee, but ultimately ended up paying his entire €40m release clause.
Now the Catalans are using a similar approach as they seek to bring in a replacement for Neymar, with Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele their top targets to complement Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in attack.
Coutinho returned to training with Liverpool on July 11 and gave an interview to the Reds' official site in which he said how much he was looking forward to the new season. Out in Hong Kong and then in Germany, the Brazilian behaved normally and performed well, but Barca began to crank up the pressure.
Exaggerated reports in the Catalan media have been leaked straight from Barcelona, while the player has been made to believe that this is his only chance of a transfer to Camp Nou and, with Liverpool unwilling to negotiate, he has been told that it is his responsibility to make a move happen.
Ultimately, his head has been turned and he handed in a transfer request at the end of last week, having started the summer completely content as a Liverpool player.
"The problem here are Barcelona," Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard said on BT Sport . "Because they will be saying to Coutinho's representatives: 'it's now or never. If he doesn't come now, we're never coming back for him ever again'. So they're piling the pressure on and that's why Philippe's reacted.
"This kid who's come from South America has always had a dream of playing for Barcelona, and he's panicking thinking that if he doesn't do it now it'll never happen again. I know the kid, I know he's not a bad person, I know he doesn't want to cause a war to come out. But at the end of the day he's just signed a five-year deal, the club have been superb to him

Dembele, meanwhile, missed training last Thursday without permission in an attempt to force Borussia Dortmund to sell him to Barcelona. And, although he was not given specific instructions to do so by the Catalan club, he will also have been told that he has to act in order for a move to happen.
"Ousmane Dembele was missing from training on Thursday without excuse and obviously took such a step consciously," Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc said in a statement later that day. "Obviously we will be sanctioning such wrong behaviour. After discussions with the coach, we suspended the player from match and training action until next week."
Barca have had big-money bids turned down by both Liverpool and Dortmund for Coutinho and Dembele, but have created situations where the two players now want to leave and, if one or both end up staying where they are, they will need to rebuild relationships with their current clubs.
As Madrid have done in the past, Barca are using their entire media machine to try and finalise those transfers, in the hope that player power will ultimately prevail. However, it is doing little for the club's once-clean image, it will win them few friends and, ultimately, it may not even work.

Winners of La Liga and the Champions League in 2016-17, Los Blancos will be the favourites both at home and in Europe as the new season gets underway

Real Madrid are enjoying their finest moment in many years. Under Zinedine Zidane, Los Blancos became the first side to win back-to-back Champions League titles and completed a Liga-European Cup double in June that the club had not managed since 1958. And this season, they will be the team to beat once again.
Pre-season for Madrid was a disappointment. Zidane's side failed to win any of their matches on tour in the United States and lost a "friendly" Clasico clash to Barcelona in Miami as part of the International Champions Cup (which was won by the Catalan club).

But back in competitive action, Real have already shown that pre-season means very little. Because Madrid already have a trophy to their name in the current campaign, having edged out Manchester United in the UEFA Super Cup in Skopje, and another looks likely to arrive after Los Blancos beat Barcelona in the first leg of the sides' Spanish Supercopa clash at Camp Nou on Sunday night.
While Barca have been weakened by the departure of Neymar and have failed to replace the Brazil forward since his €222 million move to Paris Saint-Germain, Madrid have adjusted an already formidable squad and boast an impressive array of back-up players who would grace the starting XIs of many top teams around Europe.

Madrid paid €30m to buy left-back Theo Hernandez from city rivals Atletico after the defender's dynamic displays for Alaves last season. Theo's release clause was actually set at €24m, but Real agreed to pay €6m more in order to stay on good terms with their neighbours.
Theo will provide back-up for Marcelo and is expected to develop into one of the best left-backs in the world. He should certainly receive his fair share of opportunities as Zidane has shown how he likes to rotate his squad. If necessary, he can even operate as a winger in a 4-4-2 formation and is a free-kick specialist.
The other player to arrive this summer is Dani Ceballos. After starring for Spain's Under-21 side in their European Championship campaign, the midfielder was snapped up for a cut-price €17m (his €15m release clause plus a little more for good will) as Real beat Barca to his signing.
Barcelona wanted Theo and Ceballos, and both would have featured prominently for the Catalan club. But to rub extra salt into the wounds, the two players were unused substitutes for Real Madrid at Camp Nou on Sunday.
In the meantime Real are also planning for the future, and a deal was agreed with Flamengo for 17-year-old Brazilian forward Vinicius Jr, whose transfer will be completed after his 18th birthday next year. So, while Barca have just lost Brazil's best current player, Madrid have tied up the nation's next star.
Several players have been sold by Real this summer as well. James Rodriguez left for Bayern Munich on a two-year loan, while Alvaro Morata signed for Chelsea in a €65m deal, Pepe departs on a free transfer to Besiktas and Danilo has moved to Manchester City for €30m. Fabio Coentrao, Diego Llorente, Mariano and Burgui have also left the club permanently.
James and Morata were both important for Madrid last season and the latter's goals (the striker scored 20 in 2016-17) may be missed by Los Blancos this term. At the moment, Real have not brought in a replacement for the Spain striker and may stick with what they have, using Borja Mayoral as back-up to Karim Benzema.
With Marco Asensio likely to feature more prominently in the coming campaign, Lucas Vazquez still an important squad player, Gareth Bale back from injury since the end of last season, Isco in fine form and Ceballos providing another alternative in midfield, Madrid appear well stocked all over the pitch - even without a new centre-forward.
In defence, Nacho and the returning Jesus Vallejo (a Spanish Under-21 international who spent last season on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt) will deputise for skipper Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane.
The European champions may yet move for another striker late in the transfer window, with the future of Monaco's Kylian Mbappe still unresolved and money available following the sales of Morata and Danilo.

"I'm really happy with the squad and all the players," Zidane said on Tuesday. "They are all going to stay. As I always say, up until the 31st [of August], anything can happen. I don't control that, but what I can tell you is that I am very happy with the players I have."
So he should be. Because with or without a new No. 9, Madrid's squad is still the strongest in European football, featuring excellent back-up options in every position apart from a central striker (where Asensio, Bale, Ronaldo and even Lucas can fill in if necessary along with Mayoral) and right-back (where Nacho, Lucas and Theo can provide cover).
Barcelona's bench is still short of quality, as Sunday's Supercopa first leg showed, while Atletico are unable to field any new signings until January due to their transfer ban. So, after winning La Liga last season for the first time since 2011-12, Madrid go into the 2017-18 season as big favourites to repeat their title triumph and also look like the team to beat in Europe as well.
"The players are hungry to win it all," Zidane said last week. And that is ominous news for everybody else.

There is to be no dramatic reprieve for the Portugal superstar ahead of the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup

Real Madrid have failed in an attempt to have Cristiano Ronaldo's five-match suspension overturned.
The Portugal international star was handed the ban in light of his actions in Sunday's 3-1 Spanish Super Cup win over Real Madrid, when he was sent off for receiving a second booking then pushed referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea.
Although he could have been suspended for up to 12 matches due to the reaction, the Spanish FA (RFEF) chose to give him a more lenient five-game suspension.
Nevertheless, this ban was appealed by the Santiago Bernabeu club, who discovered on Wednesday that it had been rejected.
That means that Ronaldo cannot play in the second leg of the competition, scheduled for later the same day.

He will also miss the opening four La Liga fixtures of the season, meaning that he will be forced to watch from the stands as Zinedine Zidane's men begin their title defence against Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia, Levante and Real Sociedad.
