SmartPolician: 95% of politicians who got to the level of being a governor in a Nigerian state were comfortable people who could afford this vacation. They cannot stop what they could do for themselves before because they are now governors. Sanwo-Olu didn't break any laws and everyone needs a break from work.
BTW, I tell people that we are terribly hypocritical in this country. Most of us criticise these politicians because we don't have the privilege they have. The day we do, we do worse things. The same people who gladly bypass NEPA metres to game the system also turn around to call politicians unprintable names. Who is actually fooling who? We are talking about responsibility, empathy and service you are talking of lifestyle. Is this the type of opinion that makes you a smartpolitician. Get this, SanwoOlu us the governor of my state and I have a duty to call him to order where he erred. When its time to support we'll do that and when it time to chastise we do accordingly. Your lifestyle argument doesn't is an insult to Nigerians |

Stay for nairaland Dey form boss .. like your fellow Yoruba people.. na faceless forum. SmartPolician: I see a lot of people criticize Mr. Sanwo-Olu because he decided to go and watch a football match. Mind you, that man cannot kill himself for y'all. Before he became the governor, he had a life.
More importantly, Nigeria's major problems (inflation, subsidy removal, Niger war, Forex, massive youth unemployment, etc.) can only be solved by the president; those challenges have nothing to do with states. Don't blame Sanwo-Olu for the mess of Ebola. Everyone should clean up their mess. That's your opinion. But we are talking of morality and responsibility, until this is entrenched in our leadership role we would continue to have useless people like this who never have empathy for the suffering Nigerians. The same reason you mentioned is why leaders ruin our education only to send their children abroad. They fail to equip our hospitals but can afford medical trips overseas, the same people who have destroyed our football league are jetting abroad to watch a match, imagine! |

It is only a glutton in Obi that would lobby for a presidential ticket of a party he joined in less than a month. That is the height of readiness you can find a person. |

obiekunie01: First of all, Mr. Peter Obi will NOT accept ECOWAS Leadership.
Knowing fully well the problems and challenges facing Nigeria at this critical point in time, he will politely reject any offer to head ECOWAS.
Mr. Peter Obi has never been a man with desire for titles - hence reason why he is probably the only politician in Nigeria without any title. he has never ever accepted any chieftaincy title from any part of Nigeria.
Therefor, the desire to be addressed as ECOWAS chairman wouldn't have risen - thereby saving us this very bad vibe of going to war with our neighbor whom citizens of both countries share very deep blood relations over millennials.
On the other side.
Mr. Tinubu can be said to be a man ravenous for titles. even his desire to be president was borne out of his unquenchable desire for titles - he want to be addressed as president at all cost even when he clearly have absolutely no plans to improve the welfare of the citizens of this great nation. he has garnered chieftaincy titles from every nook and cranny of Nigeria and even West Africa. his desire for titles is the reason why he lobbied and accepted ECOWAS chairmanship just few months into his presidency without considering the pros and cons of accepting such position that contributes absolutely nothing but problems to which ever country that accepts its leadership.
This singular action of his in respect to his desires for titles has almost turn Nigeria into a pariah nation among its neighbors.
Mr. Tinubu should consult widely on the best way to solve this crises without stepping boots in Niger Republic.
In fact, if he makes the mistake of deploying military in Niger, then he may be starting a huge fire that will consume not just him, but the image of Nigeria in the whole of Africa! He will expose Nigerians living in other parts of Africa to serious ridicule, attacks and mob action.
Mr. Tinubu should understand that the political issue in Niger as it stands now is like a bee perching on a man's balls it need to be handled carefully. He should thread with caution.
WHATEVER HE DOES, HE SHOULD NOT STEP MILITARY BOOTS IN NIGER REPUBLIC.
In fact, it is NOT a must to be ECOWAS Chair!
He should as a matter of urgency resign from the Chairmanship of ECOWAS and save us all this ridicule! And he accepted the offer by Sanni Abacha to chair the port despite not having any experience in that sector. Common, Obi who jumped from APGA to PDP when the juicy economic team member was dangled at him would not only jump but fly at the mention of Ecowas chairman. Forget, Peter Obi's longer throat pass that of a giraffe |

Is that what he is using Lagos money for? What nonsense. Before you say every person has his private life, note also that the call to be a governor is a call to service and you chose to serve and not to be served.
Africa will not get it right until the reward system that pampered our elected leaders who are supposed to serve us is reviewed.
Nigerians are told to bear the hardship that comes with the removal of fuel subsidy and here we have a useless governor touring Europe in the name of supporting a club. Because he can afford it doesn't mean he has to rub it on millions of Nigerians who are sacrificing and paying the price of these useless leaders through their sweats
Edited: Many of you here commenting over my frank comment should pack one side.
We are talking of morality, empathy, and a call to service and someone is talking about lifestyle. Truly Nigerians at times deserve the whips we get from our politicians.
This time in our lifetime as a country calls for caution, sober reflection, and genuine empathy. Any leader who does not feel the pulse of the nation at present doesn't deserve to be a leader. You don't appoint a jester to lead in times of war |

There's no way you can rewrite the history. The question you should ask yourself is why did Aguiyi Ironsi promulgate decree 34 that abolish regional government?
Abi is an IPOB book of history different from other history books we are reading ni. Why is it so difficult for you to admit the wrong parts of your leader, why?
"Of all the decrees enacted in Nigeria, none is more controversial than Decree No 34 of 1966. It was promulgated on May 24, 1966 by then Head of State, Major General Johnson Thomas Umunnakwe Aguiyi-Ironsi (1924-1966) . It was called Unification Decree while some critics at that time labelled it the De-unification Decree.
"It was the decree that started the death of regionalism – an issue which is still generating controversy till now. "

jerk: Don't mind them. The people who voted for him did so due to his impressive track record and competence. Now, they are twisting the narrative into tribalism. When ojukwu contested for President, how many votes did he get in SE compared to Obasanjo? If Orji Uzor Kalu were on the ballot instead of PO, he wouldn't even secure up to 20% of the votes in the entire South East region. The Igbo people do not engage in the politics of tribalism; instead, they cast their votes based on a candidate's track record or who they perceive as the superior option among other contenders, regardless of the candidate's tribe. This narration is stale abegi, how did he become a Governor and 2times Senator if your people didn't vote him. Abi an winch dey vote for alaigbo ni? |

Only a stupid person keep doing the same thing every time and expecting a different result. Keep Try something different, that’s how you get it right. Stop recycling old expired men that are too weak to think ideas Is governance about being young. Just imagine your first line has revealed your level of intelligence. Good governance is not by age or how smart you look. Nigerians who chose Tinubu over a third-class Obi cannot all be wrong.
