The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 poll, Bola Tinubu, has said the West is not yet comfortable with the Buhari administration, a reason he said there are not enough military weapons to “completely” overcome Nigeria’s security challenges.
Mr Tinubu, who spoke to foreign broadcaster BBC after his appearance at the Chatham House London on Monday, said that the Buhari APC administration had “degraded but not completely eliminated” Boko Haram terrorism.
While Mr Tinubu submitted himself to BBC for an interview in Lonon, he has continued to dodge media scrutiny at home.
Before Muhammadu Buhari came to power in 2015, Mr Tinubu said, there were 17 local governments and four states where “foreign jihadists” had their flags, referring to Boko Haram. “That is no more,” he said.
Although Nigeria has made significant gains against Boko Haram in the North-east, Boko Haram splinter group ISWAP has apparently established cells in other regions where they have claimed attacks.
For example, they were responsible for the July Kuje prison attack in Abuja and the Niger State government has publicly spoken of the terrorists’ presence in the North-central state.
In addition, the North-west region is facing unprecedented insecurity with thousands of people killed and kidnapped by terrorist groups, locally called bandits. Untamed by the APC’s Buhari administration, the bandits have caused massive forced displacements, while they extract criminal revenues from poor Nigerians in rural areas of the region.
I have known him right from his days in Oputa Panel that he is oratory and convincing, and has used that in his advantage in today's chat.
However there are take home from his speech that reveals his inner mounovering approach
1. It is very surprising that he never mentioned the name of Obasanjo who ruled twice as a military administrator and as a president while analysing the role played by each past rulers as he eulogies them one after the other and placed the error in their reign in the doorstep of unseen foreign hand but tactically blame Obasanjo government for Nigeria failure.
Was it because Obasanjo jailed him and he is just being vindictive?
2. He blamed the foreign powers for our woes when indeed the government where he was a security adviser work with foreign partners to steal our monies and resources
3. Whatever information that is in his possession is not enough reason why he should be president. Why not divulge those information and allow the government and Nigerian public act on it?
4. Would there have been external control if there's no internal collaboration? Why didn't he name the internal collaborators?
5. Some of his information about oil theft were known by Nigerian and are in public domain before now, Pastor Adeboye make reference to it the other time so also other notable Nigerians, adding colour to it by Al mustapha doesn't make it new.
He just wanted to ride on peoples emotion by creating a fantasy out of existing problems we all know.
herkeem: The Presidential Campaign Rally of the Labour Party continues today in Owerri the capital of IMO State and everyone is glad to welcome the Son of the soil H.E Peter Obi to the city of Owerri. These are pictures from the rally.
This one be like family picture. Is there no people living in Owerri again, see as everywhere dey scanty, be like UGM don drive half of the inhabitants away come Lagos
ganisucks: After 2023, Tinubu will retire to a small island like Napoleon at Elba. He will spend his days planning imaginary ways to win the already concluded 2023 elections.
While Peter Obi will go and meet his loot at Panama City
ganisucks: Which British wants Tinubu?! Don't believe the lie Tinubu is trying to create. He paid for his performance at the Chatham house of clowns. After he's done fooling himself, he will come back and face the same reality he left behind in Nigeria.
Bobrisky you no dey tire for Tinubu's matter, is this how you will dedicate your next 8 years to Tinubu?
obedience4: Ode, what's an interview? An interview is a standard tool of selection which is defined as a formal meeting arranged between two parties; interviewer (the question asking party) and interviewee( the answer giving party). So how come the interviewee ( tinubu) refuse to answer questions but directing it to the audience..
A lot of dumb people in nairaland
Replace that audience with 'party' and you'll get your answer.
Arafat2022: Nasiru Elrufai that couldn't profer a solution to security challenge in Kaduna State, his call upon to explain how Tinubu administration will solve our security challenge.
Don't just hang yourself when Tinububis declared president of Nigeria, an advice I dey give you
The Obidients said one thing, Obi will say another. Sebi the Obidients said they are not giving shishi how come Pandora now want to bribe his way into the villa, ko Jo mehn , mole werk
Polchiz: The point is that after 7 years, the people of Daura are still miserable, under banditry and Boko haram insurgency. That is what Buhari presidency achieved for them. Only a fool sets his house on fire to spite his enemies. If BAT succeeds (God forbid), your type will enjoy a temporary emotional consolation. You will be everywhere on the internet insulting Igbos, but the reality is that, Nigeria will eventually become a mockery as more people will be thrown into poverty. A man who married a bad wife to prove a point, will forever live with the consequences of his action.
What is your point with this epistle, that we should vote Peter Obi so he can put a stop UGM killing and Monday's Sit at home in the East?
dominic17: May God forgive you people. I wept for this country if this is the kind of people that are competing the lead this country, very disgraceful.
Tinubu demonstrated team spirit, delegation of power, Separation of Powers in today's interview with his innovative approach to the question and answer session. It said that leadership is all about the followers and a good leader is expected to delegate responsibility
Compared to another Presidential candidate like Peter Obi who claims he does most of his things himself so people won't short-change him. This can be seen in many of his videos and interview for confirmation.
The leadership style of Tinubu and Peter Obi is exactly the opposite.
How will this affect their government, what's your choice?
Pauldollars: Governors have never determined who becomes the President of Nigeria but voters across all polling units. They can only unite and form a strong coalition like in 2015 with the support of voters.
Unfortunately today all the Governor's are now supporting different candidates, and some sitting on the fence.
When obidients mention voters just replace it with IPOB
