deolu9:Please help me drum it enough for him to understand every problem has its own challenges. Your pure water business can be closed for a year on account of a single impurity. Can you rule out cases like that? Every business has its own challenge, how you manage it determine how successful the business becomes |
excelsiorfarm:I thing it is a great disservice for a person to conderm an aspect of farming that employs millions of Nigerian youth because he fail in the business. He should go to Kado Market in Abuja and see millions of naira thats been earn daily from fish farming. What exactly are they doing here when the business is not profitable. Is there a reward somewhere when people go online and start shouting fish farming is a scam? When did fish business became MMM? |
LikeAking:Is there any tool you use that doesn't depreciate in value? Those running pure water business dont record deoreciation of their pumping tools or what exactly is your point? Check my previous post i never allude i didnt incur installation cost, what i said is i pump water with zero running cost. You dont run away from business because you have to incur some costs, you approach it by reducing your expenses most especially the running cost, idea of farming with no expenses belong to the past, today farming requires you use technology to drive your business, thats where we should be looking at. There are people taking advantage of this already, learn from them and it will change your perspective from saying fish farming is not profitable |
LikeAking:Stating that one doesnt need 24/7 electricity to run RAS system is the biggest joke of the century. Are you for real or you just wanted to be funny. Seriously, your peak in fish farming is some people's starting point. Your other assertion that suggests one change water every 3days is another indication of your deficiency in fish farming. Fish farming has gone beyond cutlass and hoe model. We do it now with modern and latest technology, the earlier you adopt this the better for you. You dont raise 100k juvenile using flow through system. Why am i even telling you all these, you should be the one skooling me |
LikeAking:Am laughing out loud now and am sure a lot of people have seen through what you spent 20 years to aqcuire. You called hatchery 'mere'? You said a modern hatchery dont need 24hours in RAS model? Seriously am beginning to doubt your 20years experience in fish farming. Because we have taken a back sit on a platform that inspires million of unemployed Nigerians and have helped lift thousands of people out of employment should not give you boldness to run it down. Condernning fish farming business on fish farming platform is not only ridiculous but unacceptable. If you have failed in the business doesn't make the business bad for others. Some have failed but have overcome their failure, they are now counting their money. |
LikeAking:Point the insult in my argument or remain silent. You wanted to school someone without even knowing the basics of the business you want to discuss. I have told you you can get your water at no cost using solar system. Am not saying that because i read about it but am telling you because that's what am using. It becomes my prerogative to decide whether i should venture into fish farming or pure water business based on the result of my feasibility study and SWOT analysis. You dont follow bandwagon in business, many factors play a role in what you should do, your argument on pure water business over fish farming is kindergarten. Am patiently waiting to be schooled by a 20 year pro in fish farming turned advocate of pure water business |
LikeAking:I have people that are doing purewater business here, come to Kaduna road if you want to know the intrigue in their business. What you failed to understand is there's always a comparative advantage, because you people are into pure water business doesn't mean i will be successful in it until i carry out my feasibility study and analyze my SWOT. The direction of those indicators is what will guide my success or failure. Your argument regarding that doesn't hold water at all. |
LikeAking:Is broilers eating grass? Mr Man we started from where you stopped because you can run your business without using gen or Nepa. I run my hatchery on 24hours solar energy. My pumps runs from 7.30 to 5pm everyday on no running cost. Look, stop sounding like you exist in B.C. There are things there you need to humbly learn, your pride and ego is making you see fish farming with a negative view |
LikeAking:You seems to be a comedian, rear animal that eat grass? So, people in rearing pig, chicken, snail and turkey are feeding them with grass? To you they are not making money right? Go to Songhai farm in Port Novo, Starcest in Abuja, Obasanjo Farm in Ota, Fashola farm in Badagry, David Mark in Nasarawa and come and learn modern techniques of farming that will guarantee you profit. I pity your type that still wallow in delusion of quick money, thinking you can become Bill Gate or Mark Zuckerberg in an environment where technology, electricity and basic infrastructures are not available to achieve what they have achieved is not only myopic but utterly ignorance. Let me tell you, Nigeria and Africa depends largely on extractive and agricultural commodity to survive, even Dangote started within an agriculrural subsector. Please, dont insult our intelligence here in a platform of almost 500 pages with thousands of followers, if it hasn't worked for you, please seek advise from professionals at least we have many of them on this platform. Robonski, exvellesior, Ab1x, Juve, and many of them will assist you free of charge. Keep your ignorance in fish farming to yourself and stop discouraging genuine people looking for ways to add value to their lives |
LikeAking:I now your intention is to sway people's mind into believing there's one business out there where you put 10 and get 20, i pity anyone that fall for that prank. A pro of 20year who is discouraging people, what were you doing in a business where you are making losses for 20 years. Please tell us your idea of lucrative, because profitable business to me is not the same as lucrative business. |
Weedsmoker:The fact that you still hang around fish forum is enough to convince me that you are still seeking knowledge regarding fish business and i believe if you persist you will definitely tell a new story. Sir, let me agree that fish farming is not for faint hearted. Your endurance disposition must be very high for you to succeed, but who told you other businesses dont have high challenges like fish business, maybe you're referring to buying and selling, then you may have some point to back your belief. Loosing money is not an indication that fish farming is not a good business, many of us are making money out of it after initial setback and losses. You may go back and read between page 78 and 100 to read some of my agonising comments. However, let me be frank with you and if you will be humble enough to take a look at this the better for you. Suffice it to say that Nigerians can be innovative, hardworking resilience and focus, but the society has suppressed all that and average Nigerian operating within Nigerian system barely explore quarter of his potential, we have simply been spoilt by oil money and our level of focus is weak making many to run from business but rather stick to white collar job where they felt job security is guaranteed. The fact is fish farming is like every other business, the higher the risk the higher the returns. Hedging against such risks determines your success in the business. Sadly, but the truth is that you or your brother didnt do enough, thats why he failed. You may ascribe all the reasons to different factors but ill put it to you to look at the mirror. Sir, you are the reason for your failure. If you want to give it another try, kindly consider the following 1. Focus not on the profit but on the result 2. Learn as much as you can in any area of fish farming you want to do 3. Be creative and innovative in your approach 4. Dont be afraid to lose money 5. Create synergy and relate with successful fish farmers around you 6. Explore modern techniques in your production 7. Be patient and be determined 8. Optimise your management practice 9. Read extensively about fish farming 10. Put what youve learn to practice. The only barrier between you and success in your fish business is just extra effort, strike it once again, and you'll have a new story about fish farming to tell. Ttalk is a practicing fish farmer based in Abuja |
There are valid points im what you have said. Just yesterday i read for the first time the negative effect of using neem leaf (dongoyaro in Yoruba) that it can cause infertility and i wonder why the promotion of such negative publication at a time Madagaster just discovery her own cure for Civic 19. Who gave these freelancers matching order to start publishing negative stories about African herbs? As it is, Africans have been programmed to destroy Africa yet we cannot see it |
Mubby4luv:1. Your fish will be ready for another use 2months after usage 2. Yes, broodstock should be treated specially with high protein feed, high water level and darker environment 3. You dont need antibiotic if your management is right. Meanwhile, you can use antistress such as salt during cleaning and when you transfer the fry 4. 0mm and 1mm as wean feed for 3 days, 0.2mm for 10days. If there's 0.3 use for 8days otherwise continue 0.2mm up to 18 days and use 0.5 for the remaining days of the month. Use 0.7mm, 1mm, 1.5mm at 1 week interval. Then followed by 2mm until you harvest for sale or stocking 5. That depends on your hatchery structure and management. I move when they are 1month old |
This is getting serious |
