Chisco lost 18 mass transit buses in Lagos, Nigeria. Just because his office had the Goodluck Jonathan campaign poster. People, Nigerians justified it. Chisco is a Nigerian doing business in Nigeria. A Zulu can never do that to a Xhosa. They address themselves as brothers and sisters. You hear echoes of "My brother, my sister". Same people are now hating on South Africans for burning a Nigerian owned car company. You think they do not know all these? They are laughing at your confusion. When the rant is over and it will soon be, you wake up and fix your country. Is it not amazing that you do not find South Africans in Nigeria but Nigerian community in University of Pretoria alone can be one country. I don't want to mention other universities. Most of them are even on STATE sponsored scholarships running their phd's. What I mean is that, the South African government are taking care of their education. Nigerian lecturers are teaching in South African universities, earning what their counterparts in Nigeria are not earning without any need to impose handouts on anyone. You are listing Mtn, Dstv and watever, watever. Burn them down and chase Nigerians away from the few employment your government cannot create. The sad thing is while their government are paying all of them unemployment benefits, paying all their children and providing free health care for them, if you find yourself out of employment, Nigerian government does not help you in anyway. So be careful how you advocate for burning down businesses in Nigeria. The only place you will find South Africans in Nigeria is at Tb Joshua's synagogue but those are mostly on temporary movement. Mandela was sick and didn't have to step out of the country for one day because there is no need for that. Can your president trust the clinic in Aso rock to treat his ear problem? You keep writing that their country was built by whites, were you not governed by whites, why didn't they build yours? Is South Africa the only African country that was colonised? As for those of you asking Nigerians to come back, you amuse me. Come back to what? You should channel that energy into telling Nigerians in the North to go back to their regions. Cure the hate in your country first so that people will take you serious. You cannot tell them you are different then turn around and scream when you get the treatment being dished out to those who hate themselves. Some are saying cancel diplomatic ties. What does that even mean? They will drive all your students away from their universities. It is obvious Nigeria as a country does not know her mates in the world. Even Nigerian students and lecturers here will join them and riot against Nigeria. As for those of you going to destroy Shoprite, if anyone shoots you, remember your parents will shoulder that responsibility because Nigeria has no free health care. Anyone injured in south Africa gets treated in their government hospitals. Keep that in mind while you are doing your "revenge".

Even with the signing of the Nigerian Oil and Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act of 2010, many Nigerian investors still exploit the old loopholes in the system to take advantage of this law. Many Nigerians still parade foreign-owned companies as local entities to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the NOGICD Act at the detriment of the Nigerian economy. LADOL, for instance, prides itself as a local company and is reaping the huge benefits that accrue to local companies in Nigeria but its shareholding structure appears to question this claim. It is not an offence for foreign companies to operate in Nigeria. After all, PresidentMuhammadu Buhari has travelled all over the world to woo foreign investors to come into Nigeria and harness the investment opportunities his administration has created. Also, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has also made tremendous efforts to improve Nigeria’s ranking in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business to attract foreign companies. Buhari and Osinbajo’s efforts have paid off by attracting many foreign companies and investments since 2015. All these investments by foreign companies operating in Nigeria have provided employment for Nigerians and helped to grow the Nigerian economy. The Nigerian government has also provided benefits for these foreign companies to thrive. But it is worrisome when some foreign-owned companies parade themselves as local companies because they shortchange both the Nigerian economy and truly Nigerian companies. Foreign-owned companies, which should enjoy the benefits provided by the Nigerian government for foreign companies have claimed to be local companies to enjoy the benefits in the NOGICD Act. A peep into the shareholding structure of LADOL, for instance, reveals that the ownership is foreign-dominated because this conglomerate, which claims to be a bona fide Nigerian company, has its substantial 84 per cent shares held by foreign companies. The two foreign companies that own the 84 per cent stake in LADOL are Sable Offshore Investment Limited, registered in British Virgin Island, and Alsba Ventures, also registered in the British Virgin Island. While Sable Offshore Investment Limited has 53 per cent stake in LADOL, Alsba Ventures Group has 31 per cent. When two foreign companies establish a company in Nigeria, the company can be rightly regarded as a foreign company. So, substantially, and legally too, it can be argued that LADOL is a British Virgin Island company and not a Nigerian indigenous company because it is owned by entities registered in British Virgin island. If British Virgin Island companies owned by Nigerians establish a company in Nigeria, the company is not a truly Nigerian company because it is owned by foreign companies. When Nigerians establish companies in British Virgin Island and use these companies to set up a company in Nigeria, their motive becomes questionable and suspicious. The question is: Why did they not set up the company in Nigeria instead of setting up companies in foreign countries and using these foreign companies to set up a company in Nigeria? What is their motive? What are they trying to dodge? Which rules are they trying to circumvent It is also well known all over the world that British Virgin Island is a tax haven where companies do not pay tax. These companies are shell companies and regulators and anti-corruption agencies in most countries have had cause to probe the business activities of these companies. Despite this obviously foreign ownership structure, LADOL is one of the greatest beneficiaries of the opportunities provided in the NOGICD Act. Indeed, the company has benefited enormously from the local content policy in the oil and gas sector. The opportunities and benefits LADOL have enjoyed are clearly meant for Nigerian companies. But is it truly a Nigerian company? Many people have called on the government regulators to probe the ownership structure of LADOL to ascertain if it is truly a Nigerian company. The earlier this is done the better for the Nigerian economy. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2019/09/06/is-ladol-truly-a-nigerian-company/

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos office, has secured the conviction of four internet fraudsters before Justice Hakeem Oshodi of the State High Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos. The convicts are Adeoye Oriyomi, Onabule Adedokun Kenny, Osei Amankwa Isaac and Sodeinde Oluwatosin, who were arraigned on one count separate charges bordering on possession of fraudulent documents pleaded guilty to the charges preferred against them by the EFCC. The charge against Oriyomi read: "That you Adeoye Oriyomi on or about the 30th day of July, 2019 in Lagos within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court with intent to defraud had in your possession a document titled “Google Account” wherein you represented yourself as Katherine Peters (a white female) which representation you knew or ought to have known to be false. The charge against Adedokun reads: "That you Onabule Adedokun Kenny on or about the 30th day of July, 2019 in Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud had in your possession a document titled ‘My Love’ where you represented yourself as Tama Jones (a white female) which representation you knew or ought to have known to be false. The charge against Adedokun Kenny reads: "That you Onabule Adedokun Kenny sometime in July, 2019 in Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division had in your possession a document dated 9th July, 2019 wherein you falsely represented yourself as a white female Evelyn Barker to Dean Wohlgemuth when you ought to know having regard to the circumstances of the case that the document contains the false pretence. The charge against Oluwatosin reads: "That you Sodeindene Oluwatosin on or about the 13th day of February, 2019 in Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division with intent to defraud had in your possession an email wherein you represented yourself as “Richard Davis” an American citizen, which representation you ought to have known to be false.” In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, E.S. Okon informed the court that the convicts willingly entered into a 'plea bargain agreement' with the Commission. The fact of the cases were reviewed wherein the convicts made extra-judicial statements confessing to committing the crimes. Items recovered from the convicts which include a car, five mobile phones, and four laptops were also highlighted by the prosecutor. Okon however urged the court to convict and sentence the fraudsters according to the plea bargain agreements entered into by the convicts. The defence counsels to the convicts, Z.S Makinde and Ikhide Daniels pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy as they were a first time offender and that they are remorseful about the crime committed. Justice Oshodi, however convicted the fraudsters but gave them an 'option of fine' of N200, 000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira only) each to the convicts which must be paid within sixty days from the day of judgment. He also ordered that the convicts must undertake a 6-month community service at Old People’s Home, Yaba, Lagos and that there must be monthly report from the community service unit to the court as to ensure proper supervision. He further ordered that the EFCC must ensure the service is carried out and must also file and serve the court with a report on the last Friday of every month for the duration of six months. All items recovered from the convicts were forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria. Justice Oshodi however said in his ruling that the convicts shall be imprisoned for a term of one year if the fine is not paid within sixty days and that the sentencing shall commence from the day of default.
