Ogiomoni:Agreed! infact i'm more taken aback by the DSS invasion of the National assembly. truth be told, the presidency goofed big time on that. I.believe the invasion was instigated to intimidate, harass and opress the hunted - Bukola Saraki. Events are unfolding, and Nigerians are watching with keen interests. God Save Nigerians. |
A Pan-Yoruba advocacy group, the Network of Yoruba Alliance, NEYA, has called on the All Progressives Congress, APC led Federal Government to stop the seemingly ongoing political witch-hunting among its ranks but rather devote quality time to solving the myriad of problems confronting Nigerians. The group, in a statement issued in Lagos weekend, NEYA condemned the actions leading to the ongoing gale of defections in APC, warning that such development would have grave consequences on the citizenry if allowed to fester. The group is of the opinion that a people oriented Federal Government should work together in harmony, no matter individual interests, for the common good of the generality of Nigerians. NEYA therefore warned that the APC, which presented itself as a political party coming to liberate the masses from the track of perdition may sink into more fatal derailment if conscious steps are not taken to accommodate the rising number of defections to other parties by key figures in the party hierarchy. Spokesperson of NEYA, Sunday Akogun condemns in strong terms the ongoing attacks on the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and other notable lawmakers in both the upper and lower chambers of the national assembly and the wanton use of the national security institutions to carry out individualistic assignments at the expense of national interests. He said: “Nigerian political topography is being deliberately abused consistently by gruesome daylight robbery on the tenets of democracy by the ruling political party, the All Progressive Congress, APC. In an attempt to cover up under-performance of this administration, the APC has resulted to intimidating, harassing and coercing members of the party that dare challenge the party. This is tantamount to undermining the kernel of democracy (internal democracy) without which democratic sustainability can flourish”. NEYA, in the statement asserts that allegations and persecutions against the Senate President are seemingly political gimmicks orchestrated not only to frustrate, but to destroy him politically by the APC leadership and benefactors. “He who must come to equity must come with clean hands. For instance, since the police claims that links Senator Bukola Saraki to the robbery in Offa, Kwara State was debunked by the robbers then, the police must be courageous enough to prosecute the robbers. “The police must stop this show of shame and stop been used as an extension of the APC political party.” NEYA is a network of over 25 indigenous organizations which cut across the South-Western region of Nigeria. The group further expressed shock with the manner the Yoruba leaders, home and abroad, have decided to watch with folded arms and sealed lips the persecution of distinguished Senator Bukola Saraki in the hands of his political rivals. “Despite the killings, maiming and kidnappings in the North and Middle Belt no significant arrest and prosecution has been made by a Federal Government, which has picked priority in victimizing its ranks within same party,” the group stressed. The group in their requests, charges President Muhammadu Buhari to show the political will to salvage the Nigerian economic problems and enshrine the tenets of internal democracy as, as according to it, “this is the only bases for political sustainability.” http://nigeriancurrent.com/2018/08/05/yoruba-groups-warn-fg-over-saraki-others/

A US lawyer is full of praises to a Niherian Uber driver who found and returned his $700 (Seven Hundred Dollars) which he misplaced in his car. The Nigerian, Adekunle, after dropping off the passenger, realized the misplaced cash at the back seats of his car. Rather than keep the money to himself, he however quickly located the surprised owner and returned his money to him. This act by the Nigerian deserves commendation especially going by the rate at which the image of our dear country is been destroyed out there. What do you think fellow Nairalanders? |

"(iv) Biafran troops will, after the liberation of the Yorubaland, remain in that territory only for as long as we in Biafra consider it necessary for the Yorubas to consolidate their position and sovereignty against any external threat. (v) On the liberation of the Yorubaland, you will be appointed as the Military Governor of that territory. (vi) The liberation of Western Nigeria will be a prelude to the liberation of all Yorubas up to the River Niger and the severance of all connections between the West and the North at Jebba. (vii) During the period of Biafrans troops’ presence in your territory, all political measures, statements or decrees shall be subject to the approval, in writing by myself or on my authority. (viii) Should our troops arrive and liberate Lagos, the government of the Republic of Biafra reserves the right to appoint a Military administrator for the territory. Such an Administrator will remain in office until a merger of that territory with Yorubaland is effected by Biafran troops. (ix) As soon as possible after your appointment as the Military Governor of Western Nigeria and separation of that territory from Nigeria, you and I must meet to discuss: (a) the duration of stay of Biafran troops in your territory; (b) the areas and subjects of cooperation between the liberated sovereign states of Western Nigeria, or by what name it may call itself, and Biafra. 4. I do not need to remind you that Biafra regards all Yoruba as friends. As such everything should be done, to ensure the minimum force and loss of life are involved in achieving the objective of liberation. 5. It is essential, in order to avoid misunderstanding or confusion, that all subsequent requests for support be formally made to me by you in writing. 6. Will you please signify in writing, your acceptance of the above conditions so that you may leave for Western Nigeria and lead the army of liberation. Yours very sincerely, signed Lt. Col. Odumegwu Ojukwu, Military Governor and Commander in Chief of Biafran Armed Forces." culled from " A Break in the Silence : Lt. Col. Victor Adebukunola Banjo, pp.66-68, by F.
