vitality22: Bros, you mean i should pay for a flight ticket from Lagos to Kaduna to collect the VIN number of a car you intend to sell to me? How do i check the VIN number and get the report before paying for the car?bros, pls educate me. how can i know if a car is stolen from the VIN number. poster, post the VIN now or is the car accidented. even if it is, that might not stop anybody from buying it. it is also good to know the history of a car one wants to buy. |
@Poster, The fire is actually at Abuloma Jetty not Abonema. It started from a barge that exploded. Details is still sketchy and content of the barge still unknown but I suspect some hydrocarbon. |
The structural engineer in question would be in charge of design. He would also visit sites regularly to ensure the design is implemented accordingly. The right candidate must have at least 5 years post-graduation experience on structural design alone especially buildings. Other experiences would be an added advantage. COREN registration is a must have. Thanks. |
Please the job advert is for registered structural engineers only. thanks. |
A firm into architectural designs and construction require for employment a young COREN registered structural Engr. It is preferable that the person is based in port harcourt because the job is based in port harcourt. interested candidates can send the CVs to tuneski09@gmail.com with title COREN registered engr. Cheers. |
Try Overland. Lagos to Ilorin, and you will be the same again. Airplane with no AC, na your hand u go take throughout the 45mins. |
James bond: The authorised Biography by John Pearson. |
PhysicsQED: I don't think you really understand the disease ravaging Nigerians with degrees and titles. In the U.S. people add Ph.D or D.Sc or both at the end of their name. Or M.D at the end of their name or M.D and Ph.D. or M.Sc (or D.Sc).From your post and considering 3 cases (all Nigerians), Jerome Nriagu, Kunle Odunsi and Obafunwa. The only different person is Jerome who decided to leave his fellows in his profile. Both Kunle Odunsi (in US) and Obafunwa (in Nigeria) put the list of institutions were they are fellows after their names. The only other difference between Kunle Odunsi (in US) and Obafunwa (in Nigeria) is that Obafunwa (in Nigeria) is a fellow of more institutions than Odunsi (in US) and that is why that of Obafunwa is longer. People should stop making Nigerians look like terrible people. People use titles all over the world and it is not localised to Nigeria or Nigerians. |
I find this very interesting especially how people say what they do not know. People that have nothing to do with engineering come here and talk about the title "engr". rman: In Nigeria, if you are NSE and COREN certified, you can be referred to as "Engr"Sorry, being a member of NSE does not make you a registered engineer. NSE is a society with different cadres – students, graduates, corporate, associate and fellow. Corporate members are those who qualify to be registered by COREN (usually with 4years or more experience) but until you register with COREN you are not a registered engineer and cannot use the title Engr. CHESSBOARD: Whats your level of Education, Engr is not but barrister and Dr are titlesHow did you know, simply because you are a lawyer or a doctor does not give you the right to assume. COREN the body created by FGN to regulate engineering practice in Nigeria stipulates that "A Registered Engineer shall use the abbreviation "Engr" before his name", this says shall and not should, may or could. Because engineers are modest and prefer to keep their titles does not make the Title "engr" improper. For those interested in links see below: http://coren.gov.ng/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=52&Itemid=83 Somebody even said Nigerians are dumb because of titles. Na wa o, if you do not like Naija, you can simply change to Niger or Somolia and I am sure you would then not be associated with dumb people; as if the use of titles is localised to Nigeria. He even called the titles, shocking. What is shocking about Dr and Dr (mrs). |
Janerally: congratulations dear. That was outstanding indeed.Abi o. Tell them abeg. I doesn't matter how many people had 9A1 or 9A1+ in the past. That is the past. Presently Nigeria education is in serious trouble but this girl among her peers needs to be appreciated. People should also remember that she wasn't the only one who had 9A1 but she had the best allround after the aggregation of the scores. |
Youngsage: She is brilliant quite alright, but there is more to academic brilliance/intelligence to survive in life.I find the bolded amiss. Can you name one genius that you know who is an allrounder. You might want to look up the meaning of a genius in a dictionary. Instead of appreciating what is good, we end up using our mouth to kill the girl even before she start leaving. |
Abagworo: I was also given the same award but you seem not to get my point. A 1st class in University is more useful than SSCE. I did not make a 1st class so I find my SSCE useless except for situations like this thread where I can talk about it. So don't be mad and all I wrote is absolute truth.Abagworo, I am really interested in this. Why did you not get a first case? You are right in your statement that a first class is far more important than 200As in SSCE, but 9As is a good starting point and gives a good audit trail that something did not happen along the way either positively or negetively. It makes it easy to know constant academic performers. Please I am interested in why you did not make a first class. many undergraduates can learn from you. |
deal_ordea: non capax:Deal_ordea, Sorry I did not study URP, I studied engineering from a federal university in Nigeria. In our days people like you were busy complaining why others were busy getting the grades. better go and work and stop moaning. Non Capax, Thanks. Your advice is spot on. I hope they will use it. |
deal_ordea:There might be some issues but what is wrong with the best graduating student from a department in engineering (not faculty) with a 2.1. If his effort does not qualify for a first class, should they now push him and give him a first class because he is going to be the dept best graduating student. A little analysis of the guys past effort would help - SSCE, JAMB, semester performances and you might see that what you call best might only qualify for a 2.1 afterall more Bs than As would only qualify you for a 2.1, not to imagine somebody having Cs. |
Natasha,,: ashaby:Ashaby, I think you need to be careful what you call membership. Natasha's doubt is not unfound. What you can be as a student is a student member (just like ASCE and ICE student members). To be a member of NSE (corporate member), you need to have an engineering degree, with 4 years minimum post-NYSC experinece, with NYSC certificate unless you were exempted. You would also need to pay some fees and pass the exam and the interview, then you can be a CORPORATE (member). Natashe, Howbeit, Ashaby was right your father took a matured route. The 300,000 he paid also must have been in one of those expensive, for money only branches. |
babanne:Brother, Engineering valuation, engineering economics, entrepreneurship and engineer-in-society are core modules in our engineering curriculum for about 10years or more. It is not an advantage that any schools applies it, it is basic. |
Talkwisdom:By Unizik, I take it you mean Nnamdi Azikwe University, Awka (NAU). I would prefer FUTO. You won't believe this but it is true, I have interacted with few engineers from NAU and from my experience (spanning about 6months to 1year with them), they seem to be somewhat unserious with both studies and even their work. They talk more of money every now and then. It seems they teach them more marketing, enterprenuership and hussling than engineering, that is if they teach them engineering at all. Their (the ones I encountered) understanding of basics of engineering is lacking, though I need to quick state that none of them was an electrical engineer. On the contraty, most FUTO graduates that I have met, have been impressive. Some of them have really challenged me I must confess. Furthermore, NAU has 7 engineering courses, and yet I hardly hear of or see a lot of them in Abuja, PH, Lagos. May be most are outside the country or practicing trading instead. In Port Harcourt for example, you see a lot of FUTO guys and RSUST (their graduates seem to be some distance ahead of Uniport unbelievably) and surprisingly FUTA (I do not know why). This is my opinion. You can undergo a general consultation to get more views. I wish you the best. Cheers. |
Talkwisdom:It is a difficult question to answer. Remember, it depends on what you want to achieve after school. Some university would almost make you an electrician before you graduate why others would simply give you the rudiments and some, the theoretical background. Some people would answers to attract unnecessary attention to their school but challenge them to provide details. Howbeit, let me give some guidance. Don't try any of these schools because they is no guarantee that you would graduate from there or even if you graduate they is a very low probability that you would be able to practice engineering. Unless, of course, you want to work in a bank or consulting firms like KPMG, Accenture, or start a non-engineering business of your own. Anambra State University, Uli CRUTECH IMSU Any university of agriculture (the name says it) - Okpara, UNAAB, makurdi or any other one Niger Delta University Olabisi Onabanjo UNIBEN (this school keeps surprising me, a strong, old generation university, suddenly started playing with its engineering departments and lost 5 out of 8, na wa o.) Uniuyo. Some schools over the years have shown some credibility Unilag (This school is trying but please dig deeper) OAU (too much strike, even when it is not their business. You might graduate having a disconnect btw part 3 and part 5) Unilorin (this is school is one of the more stable around. NUC and COREN do not have problem with them. I know SOME of their graduates, and I THINK they are doing well) The FUTs too are trying (one close to you might be ok) - you need to dig deeper though, some of them have issues with staff strength especially lecturers. Then the old generation (ABU, UI and UNN). some have also complained that UNN is loosing its value and nearly everything is watereddown. Remember no private universities (even if you have N10million to spend. If you have such amount of money go to UK, US or even Netherlands. Please Ghana, Kenya and Malaysia are not worth it; in the market, an average Nigerian graduate beats them anytime). Be cautious with state Unis (except RSUST and Lautech, they are trying). Unless Fashola acts fasts LASU is not worth it for engineering. One more advice, be weary of people who will tell you this school is stressful, that school wahala too much. The so called stressful schools would make you rugged. Life is rugged, Nigeria is rugged and practicing engineering in Nigeria or even anywhere else is rugged. Ultimately, the choice is yours no matter what people say. I wish you the best. If anyone has a specific school in mind with reason let him say it. |
Wise-pluto, Just take Jinjawiid's advice and stop moaning. First class no be yam. Dem no de sell am for market. If you applied Uniben's student effort (only you know what that means) and you realised sometime in part 2 or 3 that it won't take you anywhere, why did you not apply Uniport student effort. Who said you need to eat in Mama abuja restaurant or read 23hrs to make a first class. Brother, starts to improve yourself now. For a first class graduate or anybody else, the cow dung that got you to whereever you are would not sustain you there. You need to keep learning. |
High_Chief:How do you measure the best? In Nigeria, the only authentic bodies (no matter what anybody says) that can state the best (1st, 2nd or 3rd and the rest) is COREN and NUC. Employers also provide some information, though fraught with a high subjectivity. To determine the best school to attend you would need to ask yourself which programme you wish to study, when you want to study and what you want to do with it (what kind of job or business you want to do with it). There is no university in Nigeria (or anywhere else for that matter) that can claim it is the best in all engineering courses. As for Uniben's case, did you go to COREN website. The story of Structural engineering and computer is outdated, that happened a long time ago. Electrical/electronics, mechanical and petroleum have joined them in 2011. 5 courses from one school in few years. They is no guarantee that other departments - chemical, civil and production would not join soon, especially production. My advice if you are studying any of Elect/elect, mech or petroleum or even production in UNIBEN, catapult yourself to another school as soon as you can, its never too late. @Poster, please whatever you do, do not attend any private universities to study engineering in Nigeria, you would regret you did. Employers have written to Covenant that their graduates do not take initiative; they wait to be told to do everything. They also do not understand fundamental theories may be they use softwares to teach them engineering. I do not blame them though afterall they need to take permission to go out of campus, they can't use phones and they can't even determine what is good or bad for themselves. What a regimented society, more like a primary school. |
mohid:No be only UNIBEN. That school! Check COREN website for accreditation of engineering courses and you would see that three engineering courses have been stepped down in UNIBEN. That school doesnt look serious to me. Who knows, when you enter there for engineering after 2 years your course who be stepped down. |
Cleeeeeannn ride. Bon sales, |
How can a V6 with 2 exhaust pipe have a regular 4-plug engine? |
If He studies Engineering, he can get the title Engr. If he studies technology, may be he would be called technologist or better still, electrician just like people who study building technology are called builders. Just my opinion. |
eGuerrilla:Many of the imported cars from America, read the distances and mileage in miles, so may be he was using an American car. The speedometer of American spec Honda especially LX and DX of Honda Baby boy are graduated only in miles/hr. Very funny miracle though especially in this era of subsidy. |
Hi, I do not know what you mean by allocation and buildable. Could you please explain. |
From the above the capital exceeds the rucurrent. That looks good to me not like the stupid budget presented by FG where reccurent is about 75%. Works budget for FG is about 171b (just about 3%) in a country where there is no infrastructure. Well may be they are planning to privatise all the roads. |
If you have a two bedroom flat (three bedroom preferably) in Port Harcourt at a reasonable price. Please send me a message on tuneski09@gmail.com. |

all right then but i doubt it
