OAM4J:Honestly, I weep for this country. What we see is promises upon promises. Ibadan-Oyo-Ogbomoso-Ilorin road was dualised under Obsanjo but it was never completed. Julius Berger failed the government by not working on their own part from Oyo-Ogbomoso. Every other contractor completed their sections. Government reawarded the contract to them at almost 1000% of the original cost about 2 years ago and yet no action. Now the same government with Goodluck in it now comes and talks about rehabilitation, is this rehab for the former single carriage or for the uncompleted dual carriage? They are so many roads with very high priority that nobody is saying anything about. Why did the government award the entire stretch of Warri-Port Harcourt to Setraco when Berger failed to work on their own portion. Why didn't they bring in another contractor say PW, RCC, etc when it is obvious that Setraco was struggling with the Warri end. Again we have been hearing of works on Benin-Ore road right from the days of Allison-madueke's cry. I do not know what this government is doing, Jonathan can not even talk of completing one road in almost 2 years. It is well with Nigeria. |
murpheus:May be I am not and that was why I said you should educate me. So where are the 20,000 people working? |
murpheus:Please educate me Murpheus, Where are these 20,000 people working? You said Osun Civil Servants are the highest paid? Please what is the source of your information and how much do they earn that made you feel they are the highest paid? |
Chyz*:Chyz, What made you think Orji is yoruba? |
This is about 30%. I don't believe it at all. |
Brand_new:That was the hope but we kept seeing people branching out from Mega parties to form silly political parties. Some political parties only operate where the financier is, beyond that point you would not hear it anywhere and that is the problem. One of such parties is that one in Bonny. God will help Nigeria, I believe the situation would improve with the gradual deregistration of parties. |
Why would they de-register only 7 political parties. I want to believe that the parties that didn't win any seat during the last elections are more than seven. The only parties I think won some seats are: PDP - If nothing all, our president ACN - ANPP - CPC - Governor Nassarawa (if nothing at all) APGA - Rep Accord Party - I think 1 seat in Oyo state (not sure what) Well INEC told us some other would be delisted after all tribunal seatings. It is a good step. |
CNN comment; Quote Some Nigerians are actually worth giving your bank account information to Famous tongues;King suny Ade Omotola jalade ekehinde, Dignified, with just a hint of willful naiveté, the deep, rich “oh’s” and “eh’s” of Naija bend the English language without breaking it, arousing tremors in places other languages can’t reach. Kinda makes the occasional phone scam worth the swindle. Sounds like: The THX intro with teeth From the above poster's quote of CNN and the bolded, it is obvious, Yoruba language is referred. I wonder if that is CNN's idea of Nigeria. These people hardly know us yet they issue plenty reports about us. That was how one was asking if Nigeria was in Africa the other day, saying she had thought, all her life, that Nigeria was in the carribeans. |

mecusbosco:Very right. In terms of indecent dressing, most Banks are better than some churches (you know them). |
God save nigeria from all this tribal sentiments on land and online. NA WA 4 PEOPLE SELF. |
Odunnu:Taken. Remember, the rigging couldn't have happened everywhere. Just like you have examples of good practices, there are good and there are bad practices. What we should be aware of is that this election was far from free or fair. |
Thank You Nadanbata, I believe Jonathan should win, he worked hard, started early with Jonathan and friends both on facebook and in locations around Nigeria. The truth is in this election, there was massive rigging and it was done to favour PDP. Jonathan or anybody should not come out and tell us there was a free and fair election. |
Hahaha, jobless! hmm Nairalanders! You will not take the truth and stop insulting. |
No matter what there is no justification for the killings. If BUhari is sincere that he has nothing to do with the killings he should go to the middle of the crises and talk to his brothers, they will listen to him. |
I care if there was rigging. I do not see the reason why we condemn other elections and glorify this one when we know they was massive rigging everywhere. Goodluck would have still won but PDP would not stop rigging elections. This is another case of a good man in a bad party. Take Imo for instance, it was widely reported that voters turnout was low and we had 80+% (that is not low turn out). In the Port Harcourt (where I stay) the story is worse. You need to be on the street. Matters was made worse as no TV not even the local ones told us what happened in Port Harcourt. Here is a bit of what happened in Port Harcourt (this is a report from what I saw and what a fellow who was an INEC official told me) - In some polling stations around Elelewon and Eleme, voters were intimidated to vote for PDP or leave the polling Boothe - On Abuloma road, some people presented money (1000, 1500, 2000, 3000) and told the voters, thump print for PDP and we give u the said amount. In this polling stations, there was nothing like secret ballot, people stand by you to thumb print. - Another case happened in Okrika and Elelewon (reported by the Inec fellow) - I was thinking the rigging was done at the collation centres but I was informed that the rigging was done at the polling centres. All there did was estimate (by counting) the number of voters who have come to vote, calculate the remaining who have not come to vote and sometimes take 80 or 90% of the remaining and then somebody thumb prints for PDP. SIR, THERE WAS RIGGING AND THE ELECTION WAS NEITHER FREE NOR FAIR NOT EVEN CREDIBLE. |
PLEASE MARK THE TITLE, U ARE EXPECTED TO SHARE YOUR REPORTS OF RIGGING. IF YOU BELIEVE THERE WAS NO RIGGING, YOU DO NOT NEED TO SHARE ANYTHING OR EVEN COMMENT. Before I share my report, let me say that from what I have seen, Jonathan would have still won if there was no rigging but the winning could have been after a runoff. Jonathan means well but he is in a wrong party. Jonathan used all the available avenues to campaign and he started early. Whether we made empty promises like building airports everywhere (as if that is what we need) or that is used state funds, is not what I aim to discuss here. I remember the days of Obasanjo when proclaimed he was fighting corruption, it was just a tool to fight his enemies. Usually whatever our government proclaimed so loudly to the international community, they end up doing the opposite but state that they have achieved what they set out to do by bojuboju or okoronjo. Jonathan said he will give a free, fair and credible election, I am sorry he didn't,he is celebrating that he did. Also, I do not see the reason why he is condemning other elections and glorify this one when we know they was massive rigging in a lot of places. HERE IS MY REPORT: In the Port Harcourt (where I stay) the story is terrible. - Another case happened in Okrika (reported by the Inec fellow) - here was no need to vote as the ballot boxes had been stuff with papers. He informed me that the people who stuffed the paper were even wise enough to thumb print about 800 for PDP, 2 for ACN, 1 for ANPP, etc. I cant imagine they would do that may be to satisfy their conscience (that is if they have got one). - Also, in PH, I was thinking the rigging was done at the collation centres but I was informed that the rigging was done at the polling centres. All there did was estimate (by counting) the number of voters who came to vote, calculate the remaining who have not come to vote and sometimes take 80 to 90% of the remaining and then somebody thumb prints for PDP. As for the North, eg Sokoto, that Goodluck had 36% of the votes is impossible. I once lived in that state and I know it's formations. (MAY BE THIS IS FREE AND FAIR) South East and some part of the North (my analysis): Several states had a turnout of about 80+%, this is impossible. In most of these states especially Imo, it was reported that there was low turnout of voter, how come we had 87% turnout. This is false. If this was done on the premise that power would go to the south east in 2015, then I think we should think twice, this only represent a promise fro Jonathan and not the true reflection can happen in this country. Also in several states in the South east and south south, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, 98 -99% was for PDP, I do not believe this. If for nothing at all, is it only indigenes that leave in this states, even all the indigenes cannot vote for PDP - let us be realistic. I remember vividly, that so many people could not register at places close to their residence, so register at their workplaces while so many others register at any convenient centre, and yet we are saying 85% of the registered voters voted and of this 98% voted for PDP. We can learn from the case of Lagos, Ekiti, Osun, Sokoto where only less than 40% of the registered voters voted. For me I think 50% of the registered voters voting, is about ideal, 80+ is a fraud. FOR HEAVEN SAKE, THE LAST ELECTION WAS A FRAUD. Yes there was a fraud but that shouldn't have brough violence but it is a pity that is the language of our brothers up North. |
I watched the recap of the NN24 presidential debate today and I must confess I was really impressed with Alhaji Shekerau. I had always believed that the man is one very native Hausa man that can hardly speak good English (judging from his campaign jingles). In the debate he was very eloquent (in fact most eloquent of the 3). He understood the questions better and spoke with results in mind. I am not saying he is the best candidate but he surprised me and gained my respect after the debate. I am going to vote but definitely not for Jonathan, |
Honestly, I think this guy called Jonathan surprises me. |
Nothing wey people no go bring come nairaland finish. If someone comes around now and asks you to send a mail to him or call him, then you would say the person wants to cheat you. Na wa. Why on earth do we have google, yahoo, ask.com, yahoo answers, Mr Jeeves. I bow. |
zikclassiq:It also depends on the branch. I agree, UBA is terrible but if you stay in Port Harcourt you would agree with me that GTB branches in PH - aba road 1, aba rd 2 and especially Trans-amadi is always packed full with people. Cars all over the place. they have a parking space of about 50 cars and yet getting a place to park is a game of luck. depositing cash is even worse, dont just go there. |
The bank is becoming terrible this days. Most of their branches are packed with too many people. The customers are overwhelming and the beautiful customer service that they used to be known for is dwedling as the care givers themselves are becoming frustrated because of too many people to attend to. You are right when you said you have to queue for everything. You just have to queue, to deposit, to withdraw, to make enquiry, whatever even in the tiny branches (that is if they have any). Na wa o. |
Zogo are u are agent. If you are please send a message to me on tuneski09@gmail.com. Even if you are but you have one or 2 things to do with land and housing please mail me. Anyway I hope this property does not fall into Amaechi's Greater Port Harcourt master plan. Rgds |
I have a 15tonnes, 6 tyres. Man Deisel Commander. |
Wumine:May be I am missing something here. You said the ethnic group with the most cases of arranged marriages have the highest divorce rate in Naija, may be you are talking of a different naija. The ethnic group with the highest cases of arranged marriage is the huasa-Fulani, the highest divorce rate goes to the Yorubas. Hausa women are generally known for endurance, they stick to their husbands, no matter what, even when the religion liberalises the man to marry 4 (which is reducing these days for obvious reasons). In yoruba, any small wahala, the husband either sends the wife packing or she packs her things herself. If it is not settled on time, that would be another divorce case. Anyway, arranged marriages are still done in several places around the world even in Naija, a friend got married to an arrangee recently, though both of them are from very wealthy homes and they had enough time to meet and know each other. Arranged marriages can still work afterall nobody is forcing you to marry. Modern day style is to reccomend, you do further research. |
