Hi guys, how long does eligibility review take on the average. Status changed to Eligibility review last week Friday - over a week now. Applied 4th September. Just curious ‍♂️
It can take 24hrs,it can as well take 6 months. It depends on how their head touch reach. But in most cases, it means decision is imminent

Hello Fam,
Is it possible for me to still submit my application for visa on Tuesday when school resumes in January ? Or you will advise me to defer to a new term(April). So that I can include the deferred form with the old acceptance letter for my visa application. Please i look forward to receiving replies soon. Thank you.
They seem to be processing applications faster nowadays, if you are sure you've prepared a tight application and have everything you need, you should go ahead and submit and pray you hear from them before January (hope you've done medicals?). If you don't hear from them by then, you can still defer.

On the other hand , there is no need to rush. April resumption is almost the same with January, there is no guarantee they will process your application faster if you submit now. If you think your app still need improvement, settle down and do it and submit when you are fully ready. Waiting is better than getting refused . No matter when you submit, you will still go to Canada if it's God's will. Just my opinion
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Twallace: 12:50pm On Nov 17, 2017
Did CIC just employ more VOs or has the rate of applications reduced? The way people are getting approved and refused very fast nowadays eeh.
Most applications nowadays take less than two months, or are they rounding up to go home for Christmas.

Anyway, may it continue that way and may TRV fall on all of us that are Seekers of TRV

Such was my case, very painful. Sorry

Got rejected after 6months

Thank you for your interest in studying in Canada. After careful review of your study permit application and supporting documentation, I have determined that your application does not meet the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR). I am refusing your application on the following grounds:
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your family ties in Canada and in your country of residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on the limited employment prospects in your country of residence.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your current employment situation.
• I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.
You are welcome to reapply if you feel that you can respond to these concerns and can demonstrate that your situation meets the requirements. All new applications must be accompanied by a new processing fee.

My people, please what extra steps can someone using PGD/PGC take to get approved? Please this is really important (especially if one can't get into M.sc program cause of low GCPA)

I will really appreciate your opinions

Carpe diem: seize the moment and let tomorrow worry about itself

xharles15:
Hello guys. My question is a bit off-thread, pardon me. I was recently awarded a fully paid scholarship for any undergraduate program of my choice in a university in Canada. I'm a 3rd year vet student(with 3 more years left ) in a federal university here in Nigeria. The ideal plan would be to seek permanent residency or an advanced degree (preferably med school) on completion of the undergraduate degree , but a condition of this scholarship is that I come back to develop my home country, although, the scholarship will also include a distance learning masters program.
Sorry for the long post but isn't it coming back to square one, if I have to come back to Nigeria ? I'm at crossroads here as I've always wanted to become a doctor and the mentioned condition of this scholarship could come in the way of a med school application after. Would you advise that I seize this opportunity?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Twallace: 7:49pm On Nov 13, 2017
Your application was decided based on VO's discretion. You can appeal only when there is an error in deciding your app. In your case, it doesn't seem like it. Even people going for masters have been hit with the same reason.

You can appeal, but I'm afraid you don't stand any chance. Just my humble opinion though.

Let's wait for the input of gurus in the house.

keeptryingdgu:
Good day house. Please, I need your help and I apologize if I ask any redundant question. I have tried to read as much as possible and I appreciate all your efforts.

I have just received the response from the visa office after my application for a trv for study and it was not as expected but I have strong hope.

The reasons given were only two folds:

1. Purpose of Visit
2. Your proposed studies are not reasonable in light of one or more of your qualifications; previous studies, employment, level of establishment, or your future prospects and plans.

Now, I applied and got admission for a diploma in business administration (DBA) and already paid school fees. I believe the financial conditions were sufficiently met, which left the two options given that I did not include an SOP in my application.

I already have a Bachelor of Arts in my field of undergraduate study and I did not include the SOP as I felt it was optional and needed if I had an explanation to make. I felt it was common sense to want to study business administration as the skills from this can be generally applied irrespective of your background. I am currently teaching in my field of undergraduate study.

I do believe that I have sufficient reason to appeal this decision. The DBA may be different from my area of undergrad study but the DBA will improve my knowledge of the subjects taught in my current workplace, thus I can take up more responsibility and it will also augment my bachelor's degree to position me for managerial and executive positions in the future. It will also help me in contributing to business development in my the area of my undergrad study.

So house help me. 1. Where do I go from here and 2. how do I get there?

Thank you in advance.

Keep trying Never give up.

Why not? What is stopping you....
As far as it is a recognized and accredited university, you can use it.

You probably have to apply for PhD since you already have M. Sc

Hello, I'll answer your question because you are my Name sake... lol.

Brandon University is one of Canada's cheapest university, if not the cheapest.

Annual Tuition fees in Accounting for 30credit hours goes for 6758CAD. Other miscellaneous Expenses like student service fees,U pass, student fitness fees etc... plus the tuition will cost you for a year = 7677CAD.

Brandon always advice students to budget 18,000CAD for annual tuition and living expenses.

In respect to the tuition it is paid Annually(Only if cic instructs you to do so)

Be guided that tuition fees don't cover your living Expenses like feeding and Accomdation. You need to have 10,000CAD handy for your living expenses plus tuition fees for a year.

Of course yes, if you are the hustling type you will get job when you get there, (getting a job in Canada is not easy as you think) in as much as you will be issued your study permit and SIN at the point of entry (POE), so this makes you eligible to work 20hours per week while studying and you can work as much as you can without restrictions while school isn't on session(OFF CAMPUS). So, you don't necessarily need to rely on your sponsor for all your expenses, either you will depend on him a little mostly for tuition fees, while you settle your bills for your living expenses. Because i doubt if you will get a job that can cover both your living expenses and tuition fees while studying in Canada.

√On this forum we advice applicants to pay their annual tuition fees(7677CAD) while your sponsor deposits your living expenses (10,000CAD) into your dorm account (This serves as a proof of commitment to your sponsor), After all, make sure your sponsor has enough sufficient funds remaining to cater for his family, business etc...

I hope this information helps NameSake!

Good luck in pursuit of your Canadian dreams.
Brandon university does not really have good graduate programs. Only about 5 of them
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 13 by Twallace:
CIC is indeed funny. I got refused after waiting for 7 months. Reason: not enough money to pay tuition without working, meanwhile I have already paid first term tuition with more than enough fund (in sponsors account) to pay for the remaining one term.

Another reason is purpose of visit and employment situation at country of residence. Please gurus, how do I tackle this problem

The journey has not been easy, I have passed through tribulations and temptation,

On graduation from my university, I didn't make a first class or a high second class upper, I was discouraged because I had planned to do my masters degree in Canada, nd I knew that my result wasn't very good but yet, I persisted with my ambition, I applied to 2 universities on my own, I was denied admission, I came to this thread, seeking for answers and help, I sent many Pms, few responded, many didn't (though I hold nothing against them)

I followed up with the few that responded, I was able to establish a good relationship with one of them, I was not only guided properly by him, he assisted me in making the application nd FEES. I got admitted

I was mad in celebration, I came to this thread (part 12) to celebrate, he has previously warned me never to make reference to our dealing here on Nairaland, but I couldn't hold my joy, he saw his name on my post, though he wasn't happy, but he offered to pay for my Visa application for my acknowledgment.

(One thing to note is that, I never asked him to make any payments for me, he offered by himself, I had the money to make those payments, but he didn't even care about that)

Once again he guided me through out the application process FREE OF CHARGE, now as I type this, MY TRV IS SUCESSFUL

I always hear about good people, but I have not really had a close/personal relationship with one to this extent, we are not from the same tribe, Infact our Tribes are the major contestants in the tribal wars that goes on here, but that didn't deter him.

I'm firstly grateful to the Almighty God for making my Visa a success, then to you boss, you know yourself, only God can reward you, I'm in tears now, nd I love you for life (no homo), you're the best thing that has ever happened to me, a total stranger doing so much for me nd helping me in achieving my life ambition.
I gat your back for life.

My TRV is successful, nd as a way of giving back to this thread, at the right time, probably when I arrive nd settle down properly in Canny, I will pay for the application fee nd "if possible" the visa fee for someone else here.

I will be back to do this selection, no need for anyone to start sending me Pms Now.

To all I may have had issue with I'm sincerely sorry for the disagreements nd bad words

God bless you Nairalanders
God bless Nigeria
Never give up hope.
Keep trying
Congratulations. This is very encouraging. There is is still hope for our country after all despite all the tribal hate and wars.

Please if you don't mind, which school gave you admission, my CGPA is below 3.0 and it been difficult finding schools for masters?

Some schools ask for deposit of $6-$12k Aus before your ecoe can be sent to you.

For instance, if your school has requested you pay $6k as initial deposit you may want to ask yourself; is my 3m able to pay for my visa application fees, school deposit, flight ticket, accommodation for a month, feeding, and may be transport before you are able to settle in proper.

Its not that easy settling in a foreign land unless you have someone to guide you.

You may be fortunate to find a job immediately you arrive Aus. What if it doesn't happen? Whats your Plan B?

Like I ealier said, you should be able to pay up your tuition from the money you earn as long as you are hard working. Mind you marrying school and work isn't all that easy can be stressful atimes.

The trick is; work hard, play less, save more, pay your fees, graduate, find a job, apply for PR and ENJOY THE FRUIT OF YOUR LABOUR.

NB) If you intend to study below 2 years in Australia you stand NO CHANCE of remaining in Australia after your studies unkess you have the required points to straight away apply for your PR.
Hello boss. Thanks for all your help. I'm applying for a course that has duration of 1.5 years (because of the cheap cost). Please what can I do to make up the remaining 5 months, can I apply for another course after that?

What is my fate after 1.5 years in Aussie?

Morning people, I need to understand something please, if an application has been on background processing for over two months, does it mean the background has comma because I don't get why they choose to forget some applications, they have even started reviewing August applicants already, this is totally unfair, no internal control whatsoever to give them deadline on people's applications, imagine having to wait for 4,5 months and still getting delayed, U.K. Gets loads of applications too, I wish there was a suggestion box or something, if additional docs are needed, they should just let the applicant know instead of just giving the silent treatment. God is in control & he surely knows best.
I read in one forum that during background check, your name may have a hit. It may be as a result of having the same name with someone else. Either way, your information will be sent to higher up security outfit for more checks. It is part of what causes the delay in the whole process.

Meanwhile, my background check will be 5 months soon and my eligibility review is now 3 weeks old but will be approved tomorrow

There has always been a debate here about going for M.Sc instead of PGD. God knows that most people that apply for PGD have genuine intention but their result didn't measure up, Canadain universities being competitive and all.

Now, instead of continuing this debate, let's help genuine students with poor result achieve their dreams of studying in Canada.

My question now is: can someone with CGPA of between 2.6 and 2.99 get admission into Canadian university?

If the answer is no. What should he do? For people saying no one should apply for PGD, please advise what a person with such result can do?

Thanks
