Hi blesyn83. could you please give info on accommodation since you are there at the mo? Thanks
Blesyn83: I'm presently at Phoenix, there's nothing like that. I even checked the website but did not see any such amount.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 1:21pm On Jul 21, 2014
I also saw the same reviews But judging from em oyinbo standards, I am sure it won't be the same as ours. A 2 star hotel in USA might be finer than a 4 star hotel here in Naija. From the pix, crossland looks really nice and people that commented before those pages were wiped off attested to it. Same as extended stay. It will really be nice though if we get reviews from those that are presently there..

hollabeesy2014: Hello house
Speaking abt accmdtn in phoenix, I went tru som reviews about crossland and some cheaper hotels n what I read abt dem wasn't so encouraging. considering d fact tat accmdtn is very important. Pls wots d actual state of dese hotels mammas in phoenix? N which would u reccomend? Don't mind sharing apartment if deres any. Should b in phoenix towards d end of November
Thanks.

Plus no stop over!! BA, Airfrance, United, KLM etc all have stop overs

dinawe: Yes oh! The arik thing, they have reviewed their policy, it's now 34 weeks. I saw it on their website and i called the office to confirm. You can travel from 30-34 weeks with your fit to fly (doctor's report). You can check it our your self: http://www.arikair.com/health-matters

Since it's on their website, you have a strong reason against them if they bounce you. For now, arik is the most affordable and they have a good POE, New york.

And I believe there are better ways you could have communicated to her rather than this. Please let's be mindful of how we talk to others here.
Alubosa: U didn't have to quote the entire post. it makes the thread unecessary longer
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by twizzie: 11:57am On Jul 09, 2014
Thanks for the info. Pls What do you advice we do now? Should we write a letter or petition?

@tzetzefly]

H-1B visa holders can bring their spouse and children under 21 years of age to the US under the H4 Visa category as dependants.

An H4 Visa holder is allowed to remain in the US as long as the H-1B visa holder remains in legal status.

While, an H4 visa holder is not eligible to work in the US, they may attend school, obtain a driver's license and open a bank account while in the US.
Thanks mamacajah,
Might do just that.

If I remember correctly, you will pay for pediatrician visit after delivery(about $80). someone once did what you are proposing, traveled to phoneix at 36wks,gave birth and returned to her family in NY. But I would advise you go earlier than 38wks,just in case of any problems.Flying or travelling at that period is quite risky dear.

Please our MIHS mama, give us options on accommodation or sharing options. Thanks!
@happytbaby
Thanks for the info. I think it's quite clear to everybody the cost stated by the hospital online. I have personally called their office, though I couldn't get much info as the line went dead and on calling back, there was no response. We were just asking for additional cost like ped fees, lactation expert fees, etc etc. Before the pages were wiped off, mothers here talked about paying some extra charges for some services rendered hence the need to clarify and prepare before heading out. It's just safer to know beforehand. It will be good to hear from people that have used the place. The queries raised are not for comparison (IMO).

MIHS has a maternity package that is 2,888 and 4,200 for womanly birth and CS respectively. You guys could google Maricopa Integrated Health System for information. A detail of what is included is on the website. It's not amusing to be repeating all the lost info so it would be nice if people do a bit fieldwork too. Google is our friend.

As for cheap accommodation, Crossland on West McDowell road can be booked for about 650dollars per day if you bok a stay of at least 60 nights. The booking is done via phone on +18003987829. It is managed by extended stay so you can book extendedstayamerica too via the number. Please have your MasterCard or Visa card ready when you call. You can also check what the place looks like online.

To book appointment with MIHS, you need to call the Women's clinic on +16023445407, speak pleasantly and get them to send you an email confirmation.

I would appreciate if the people that need this info just take it and use it and not come up with unnecessary comparisons of hospital "quality" or hotel "finesse".
Pls house, any idea on any additional charges from MIHS? Like pediatrician, etc etc?

I am thinking of flying from NJ/Philly at 38 weeks and to spend prolly just a month then fly back to NJ/Philly.
Going for elective cs which is 4200.
That way, 4200+ say 1200 accommodation + flight 500(its about 450-470) = 5900.
Feeding and other cost can gulp another 1500= 7300. Lets sha say 7500..
Still fair IMO tho DCMH are offering 7500 but that's just hospital and doc's fee. No ultrasound, ped fees, blood test fees included in the package.

Please advise...

@ GenoMI,
Na real wa..
Called another hospital in that region Lankenau medical center, I almost vexed drop the phone. (Both DCIM and Lankenau were posted by someone I think on page 54-58 on this thread)
20,000 Vagina birth and 30,000 for cs. That's just hospital bill, though you get a 60% discount but you have to pay 10k deposit and also find a physician.
I have families in Philly and NJ, that's why I a checking the area out but it seems NY is rubbing off on them.
Abeg, make I call MIHS jeje. Will give feed-back as well!!
Veterans in the house, abeg talk oooooo
ciao!!

GenoMI: Hi twizzie,

Na wa o, MIHS seems like the most reasonable option so far, though flights for the time I want to go are around 300k minimum (Dec by God's Grace). Even all the accommodation i.e. extended stay america has nothing available. Don't know what to do next.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 2:14pm On Jul 08, 2014
Hello house.
For those interested in the Philly region, I just called, DCMH.Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Was referred by someone that had her baby last year and she paid about 3500-4000(hospital bill and doc).
Apparently, the price has gone up over 100%. Was told it's currently 7500. 6000 for hospital bill and 1500 for doctor's bill. Was directed to the financial services department when I asked if I was going to get further discount for paying cash upfront. Called but was told it's a flat rate. The amount doesn't cover ultrasound and blood test and you have to bring in your medical file to avoid paying more.
Hope this helps someone.. Will try call another hospital in that region.
Please mums using or have used MIHS, Abeg show ooo and tell us your experience. Seems that's going to be an option I might have to consider.

GenoMI]Hello House,

Please I need some advice from you.

I would like to have my baby in the US though I am due to deliver in January 2015 I would like to start laying the ground work now.
I have been issued a B1/B2 US visa before which expired in February 2013 (I used it 2wice) but my husband has never applied for a US visa before and we would like to go together. Please I want to know if:

1. I can apply for a new visa through the drop-box program and if this may affect me at POE since I will not have the opportunity to explain at interview that I am going to give birth

2. How and when my husband should apply

I will really appreciate your responses. Thank you very much.
I don't think you are eligible for the drop box as well. You should have applied before your visa expired. From the look of things, it is advisable to apply and go together as a couple.
Start correspondence with hospitals and get letter of responsibility, do a spreadsheet for all the cost associated. make sure you have a good account balance for whoever is sponsoring you. Get appointment with a doctor. With all these, I think you are good to go for the interview. As previously said on this thread, be truthful during your interview..
All these, I have learned on this thread! All the best!!!
TravelRe: Usa Visit Visa by twizzie: 9:47pm On Jul 07, 2014
Thanks for the info..
The thing is she is not a US citizen.. She has the H1-b category visa. She schooled in the US and has been living there for a while now. She is just filing for her perm residency sef.
so can they still go for the K3?

tzetzefly: Your brother should stop wasting his money and follow these procedure below:

As a U.S. citizen, let your brother's spouse try bringing him over to the States through these two ways:

1. Immigrant visa for a Spouse of a U.S. Citizen (IR1 or CR1) - An immigrant Petition for Alien Relative, Form I-130 is required.

2. Nonimmigrant visa for spouse (K-3) - It is important to note that application for the nonimmigrant visa for spouse (K-3) who married a U.S. citizen must be filed and the visa must be issued in the country where the marriage took place.

After the visa process has been completed, and the visa is issued, the spouse can travel to the United States to wait for the processing of the immigrant visa case.

Two petitions are required: Petition for Alien Relative, Form I-130, and Petition for Alien Fiancé(e), Form I-129F.

Hi Nairalanders. Good job here..
I need info on the following pls.
My brother was denied visa recently. His wife lives in America and she has a good job. They recently got married in the registry here but she really wants to have the wedding ceremony in USA. What would you advice pls? He applied for visa H1 category I think but was denied.. Kindly advice on what step you think we can take please..
He was denied three days ago. Do you think it's advisable for him to re-apply immediately? Can he appeal the decision in that category of visa application?
Gurus in the house, please help out..

Thanks @mamacajah.. Will check it out but any other info will still be appreciated. I got family in Philly and NJ so the overall cost might be better than going to El paso where I will still have to pay for accomodation.

mamacajah: @twizze, I saw this on page 58
"There is another hospital called Lankenau Medical Centre also in philly area. i know the hospital fees for uncomplicated womanly delivery is 1000$ and CS is 1300$."
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 2:24pm On Jul 01, 2014
Pls anyone kindly answer this question.
Spoke with a lady who had her baby last year in Philly and she spent bout 3500-4000 for both hospital and physician.
DCMH (Delaware County Memorial Hospital) to be precise, though it seems they may have doubled the price cos someone called for inquiries and they gave a bill of 7500.
Anyways, anybody with any info should plssssssssssss update.
Thank you!

jyde2014: Good morning all;
Pls does anyone have information about hospitals/doctors in philadelphia? pls it's urgent. thanks all.
