TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 9:19pm On Oct 26, 2014
Congrats lizcom nd all the other mamas n papas! God. Bless nd keep the little ones in Jesus name.

@all. Pls let's sheath our swords and be mindful of what we type to others. Personally, I see no reason why someone will come to a faceless forum and lie about an experience. Call me naive but one thing I know is there are always two or more sides to every story. If someone says she had an experience, let's not be too quick to judge. It can be hurting especially if d person is saying d truth.

Anyways, me I don land phhoenix o. Flight was stressful cos I missed my initial (direct flight) so for all d mamas jumping on this awoof ticket, if u are coming to phoenix, book direct withh an airline or if u av bought d houston ticket,I'd advice u fly southwest. Aside. That they seem to be d best and cheapest local carriers, u are entitled to carry ur two 23kg bags. Other airlines won't. For Delta, u pay seerately for ur luggages. United I heard allows one and u pay for d rest.
Shout out to the wonderful people I have met here, Dinawe, Dammiecouture, wummicpn, freshface etc etc! These people are just wonderful! MIHS people na one big happy family o! Feel free to join. As for bomly, think it will be nice if u reached out to other mamas in crossland. It will really help. Just drop ur room no and I trust those preggos go bring u pepper soup. I am not in crossland tho, but will def visit soon!
Oya, enuff. Of d epistle!
Xoxo!!

You can call in prior to your arrival and ask them to scan the application form to you. This allows them to run their checks before your arrival. Also, they will tell you if they have an available spot or not.
raii:
This one that you have to apply in person. If u reach there and space no come dey or their checks come out negative. That's not cool o.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 7:53pm On Oct 16, 2014
So as an Ijebu geh, I called these Monterra apartments people. The place looked really cool as fresh face said, e come cheap die. $615 per month!! Unbels? I know right!! Unfortunately, they won't have an open spot till December first week. The only open apartments for now are three bedroom apartments.. Wetin I wan take am do? To apply though as an out-towner, you get to apply physically and they do a background check on u(dunno how they intend to do that though). One can call in and they scan their application form to you so they can start all that before you get to Arizona. The online application doesn't work for international applicants..
December MIHS mamas, hope this helps..According to fresh face, you can actually stroll to the clinic from there and reviews online are good too.
xoxo!!!

Freshface:

@MadameU: thank u jare, I no get choice. I'll stay put atleast till it expires

@Heart2heart: I dey wait ur arrival

@Nita2013: shei if she bn don welcome me I for don prepare better peppersoup keep for am now na! Anyway congrats to her, looking forward to meeting her n d baby.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 10:04pm On Oct 10, 2014
oh thanks...appreciate your effort...I already called as well. Funny though, the quote I got about 2 hours ago 312.19 for the first week and 189.74 for subsequent weeks.I just hope they aren't reviewing their prices too o.. checking google map, its quite close to the hospital..
Next week Sunday hopefully, just chilling in NJ with family...
dinawe:
Hi. I am at crosslands. Had never heard of Ocotillo village until you mentioned it. So i checked them out online and gave them a call as well. Their studio furnished rooms is $420 for week one (arrival week), then $189 every other week. So it's like $987 for a month (approx N167,790). Which is not bad seeing that they have a pool (that's if you love swimming), and can quicken labour as well. grin.

So it's up to you to decide. When are you coming in?

Wish you the best.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 6:31pm On Oct 10, 2014
Hi.. Will like to know if you are presently there or not? Also, the quoted price, is it inclusive of all utility bills? I reckon that wifi is not available, any other we should know of? Thanks..
Dammiecouture:

HelLo house! Reporting live from NJ. A bit jet-lagged so I got time on my hand.@ kwèen, u must be one of d preggy mamas I saw on d flight. Kept wondering which of these preggos are Nairalanders..
Any way, like Keen said, Delta is good for any preggo, I was 35+2, when i flew and no-one in MMA batted their eyes. Went with my toddler so I already knew the journey was gon be a long one.
Funny though, we had my row of seats to ourselves so na room n parlour we dey. God bless my LO, he slept like an angel that he is all through the flight. Made sure I fed him well and gave him small piritton...Anyway, got to Atlanta and I was directed to one spanish tatooed guy like this.the guy just boned but I kept speaking God's word to myself. He asked what I was here for, told him vacay n childbirth. He asked me how much cash I had straight, told him $8500. He just said that is not enuff to birth a child in the Us. Told him I had contacted an hospital and d budget I have for normal and cs is 6500, 8000 respectively. He kept hissing to himself. He sha did biometrics and put my passprt in a transparent bag. Meanwhile, my cute son(whom all other agents had been smilling with) had his bag taken by a new friend he met, so we had to go get d bag.d lil boy didnt want to release the bag and it was a lil scene. The expression of irritation on d guy's face was enough for us. We sha gathered ourselves and were taken to a room to wait for secondary inspection.
On getting there, there were others as well with 2 other pregnant naija ladies as well. Another preggo was brought in with her 3 sons and we were told we will be called.
Was called by a black lady n below is transcript.
Lady: good am (with a smile) why are u here?
Me- morning' vacation n childbirth
Lady: you have any contact with a doc?
Yea. Maricopa medical center
May I see?showed her. Asked if I had paid, told her I needed to meet fin counselor first b4 paying.
Asked if i was pregnant at time of interview.I said yea' she was checking my transcript cos d next question was why i did not come for d wedding again as that was d reason we applied. Told her d wedding was postponed and d time would have been too soon for me if I had come in Sept. She asked how far gone, i said 35. She was surprised. She said you shouldnt be flying after 32. Thank God i had my fit to fly letter. I just showed her and she later asked for my cash. She counted in thousands and told me d keeping all receipts story. I said no P and she stamped us 6 months. As I was leaving, she mentioned my hubby coming for d wedding last month which I affirmed. Our bags were transferred to d screening room but none of mine was searched. D guy even helped with my trolley, checked in for connecting flight to JFK..
Transcript is actually longer but i had to make a bit brief. All the best to everyother person..na phoenix journey remain so..

akelvin: I got some so all depending on ur budget n preferences.but nice apartments mostly in chandelier based on advise of pple around on d areas n .
Thank you for this Info. God bless you much! Need to ask though if these quotes are monthly and if one can get to pay for one and half month. Also, how far is this Chandelier from the hospital and clinic?
Also, on the document processing, does it mean one has to go all the way to Tucson before you can apply for passport? Thought one could do via the post office? Also, the notarized letter of consent, can I take along now before baby is born since hubby won't be around or it has to be after baby is born?
Thank you once again..

LMAO!! All these Lits and debate shildren!! We are convinced o that there are other options..this is no badt at all..
Meanwhile, Me I am an optimist.. I am holding on to the ray of what someone said that the old price still stands for those with appointment till December.. I might still go there sha based on their review of VBAC as well.. Hopefully, them go reward those who kept to their appointment..
Phema, don't mind the El paso clans o, all these threats you people are sharing, there is God o!! If not, na NJ i go stay jeje!!
Bro oawale, how is the fam? Kindly help us embark on a charitable journey to MIHS to confirm if the old price stays the same for those with appt..
Taink u (in mama pepe's voice)I promise, I will bring garri Ijebu for u when I am coming grin smiley
GenoMI: Cheiii @ MIHS mamas, I sympathise with you grin grin grin grin, but don't worry God dey. For those looking for other options apart from the Border Town (I hail una border people oo), why not look into Gwinnett (in Atlanta) also? This is a summary of the costs I have so far:

1. Hospital Fees: $2,400 - $3,600 after discount if you pay within 30 days (40% discount)

2. Dr Fees: Dr Oduro- $2,100
Dr Soyoola - $2,475 (this was after I used all my power to price from $2,675 grin grin)
Gwinnett group of OBGYN's - $1,800

I called last week. They asked me to fax over my medical records which I am yet to do and I will keep the house posted once I do.

All in all, you can use Gwinnett for an uncomplicated delivery for approximately $4,200 - $4,875 depending on the obgyn used.
My friend who delivered there says to budget less than $500 for paediatrician and about $250 max for circumcision.

With these few points of mine, I hope I have been able to convince you and not confuse you that we have other options too grin grin grin grin grin

You guys shd cut Teamclicksir some slack... Personally, I felt he was just been helpful. He never requested anyone contact him, no need for throwing jabs @ him for no just cause.. Beg, teamclicksair, which airline is d cheapest for now? Pls don't mention Airmaroc beside me o. Had a "memorable" exp with them once, never again!!.I'm almost certain on the one I would fly but it doesn't hurt to know..
TeamclicksAir: lol....All have posted also is different airlines with there current prices . A simple Google search on the airlines would have shown you there website and you can complete your booking there. It is well smiley

Hi Nita...kindly share ur experience on Emirates.. I moght be flying with them as I have to get to NJ for Few days b4 heading to phoenix.. I want to know how one goes about d hotel choice thingy.. I intend to rest well well and continue my isrealite journey since its 27hrs stated on their site. Orher carriers have shorter stop overs but one will have to be at the airport all thru, I might as well go with the one that will make me fresh and comfy for d last lap of my journey.
Thanks!

Nita2013: Hi Funsho, I travelled at 34weeks + 4 dayz. With Emirates u can fly up to 36weeks with ur fit to fly but pls make like 5 photocopies of d fit to fly and do not submit d original cos in dubai they would need to site d original.

Cheers

Hello house..Abeg help a sister out..I got someone to book a flight for me..He got Arik due to less stress and lesser travel hours..The issue is that I will be 34 weeks at the time of travel..He said he called Arik as we were discussing and they said they will carry me as long as I present a fit to fly..My fear though is that they answered in the affirmative cos he was calling from the US. Make I no go airport, make them bounce me..
I have read it here times without number how they don't carry beyond 30 weeks..
Please anyone with a recent experience? Kindly share..
Thanks..

Ok, so I checked their website.. Thank God I didn't buy..

@neferetitiam, so sorry about all that... Most important thing is that you and the LOs are doing fine!! They will still go to America well well, so relax!! God will keep them and make them shinning examples among their peers!! To think I was waiting for you to go check the hotel you recommended to us out!!
@mamacajah, oya let us go and buy tickets oooo... e don do!! 1st week in October, I am out mhen!!
@omokennyoguns20, oya chop kiss... Was really hoping that will still apply.. Sorry to sound selfish but budget is tight!!!

In all, let's put God in our planning and not overstretch our luck too.. Fly early(though 27 weeks sef is over early)
God will make all things beautiful for us!!

@mamacajah, sorry no vex ehn.. I promise they won't do it again..hehehe..
I was going to ask after you sef as I haven't "read" from you in a while.. How are you and the baby doing? Great I hope..
Take care!!
mamacajah: @twizzie, thanks! sometimes i don't want to start a word fight here, so I really get upset when people come on and just ask for info without reading some pages. at least the last 40 pages, most of the questions being asked on NJ, NY, Maryland and co have been asked over and over. They don't bother to take out time and read a bit, sometimes they even come demanding a quick response like all the contributors are sitting down somewhere waiting for them to ask such questions.

Sorrry for my long rant... I just had to get it out there that this a lovely family blog, which grew based on sharing information, reading, researching and giving back. Please don't come here and take us back. FIN.

It will really be nice if one can take out time to read this thread if you need info.. I personally read almost all the pages prior to the wipe out and I got the needed info..I am now like a consultant..hehehehe....
I feel most people just want to be spoon fed all the info they need.. If you have a question that hasn't been addressed, then one can ask..but that must have been after going through most of the pages to see same has not been addressed..
To answer your question though, these are links you can check out. Just know the cost is from $7,000-$10,000 range..

For diapers, you can buy as many as you can.. just buy varying sizes depending on your baby's size...From newborn to sizes 1,2,3,4 and 5..More of 3 and 4 tho.. It's quite economical. I had an extra bag full of diaper from the UK tho I didn't birth my child there and it was worth it.. For food, I would advise you not to buy so much.. They can only take formulas for the first 6 months anyways and other cereals after six months which your baby might not just like.(Talking from experience)
There are lots of stores in Nigeria that you can get baby food rather than storing them down in the house.. I really don't have an idea as to shipping but I am hopeful someone will.

GenoMI: Please all new mommas in the house, will you be shipping baby items like food and diapers back to Nigeria?

If so, please what quantities should one be looking at? For example, how does one know how many packs of diapers to get and also what sizes? PLEASE HELP OO!! I'm confused. huh huh huh

Even if you did, she can't interview you again once u challenge her that she denied you for no just cause.. I've read an instance on another thread where the guy challenged the VO that he was denied by him for no just cause.. He just moved him to another vo and he got it..The most important thing is to fill your form accurately, there shouldn't be irregularities though..Make sure what you fill correlates with the previous form..
Also, you need to be confident, look them straight in the eyes, talk audibly as well!
Most importantly, pray for God's favor! You will surely get it!!
mummybee: @T4Tough, @Brooklyn20...both of you should reapply again, even with your spouses. In all, pray 4 God's Favour and I pray u won't meet with that lady again.

Thanks BVNO. Will check it out.
You could ask to book an appointment with a Doc, that can serve as as letter of responsibility too..Then take all your correspondence including the bill along.
