Thanks for your help so far, I kinda figured that out.
Another question please, can one request a new passport with a change of name due to marriage? I selected the change of name option and it took me to the NIS naija portal. I really do not mind using my maiden name but my NIN is in my marriage name. Do I really need the NIN cos on filling the application, the NIN part is not marked as compulsory.

Thanks once again!

You can get a lawyer to help send a letter to the home office. Not appeal as I don't think that is possible now.

Personal experience of someone I know, visit visa denied, 1st last 2 years, then this year. Got a lawyer here who sent a letter addressing what the VO stated as reason for denial cos it seemed they just copied what was in the last refusal.(Which was what the VO did)
They responded they will review and get back in 3 months. 3 months later, asked that he send his passport and visa was approved.

A more expensive route but was better than just re-applying which will have resulted in another definite refusal. (Stenon this advise is not for you, just try organize study visa for your sis, it's better for her.)

Please this innovate website no get Nigeria on list of Countries, thought we could apply for renewal now. Help a sister please.

Some things are easier said than done.. Living in Nigeria is different from going to visit.
If you live in Nigeria, some things will have to give.
My kid sister after months of pre-degree was given admission @ Uni Ilorin.. I mean she saw her name on the admission list. Fast forward to going back to pay acceptance fee and register, name don disappear. shocked Someone probably swapped her name with another person's name. My dad angrily enrolled her in a private Uni. He could afford it, otherwise, that would mean another one year at home. For those who cannot afford it, will you keep on waiting when you know your child is well qualified?
I was robbed some years back, I still had to pay Police to get police report after losing so much..
It is easy to sit behind a screen and say let us stop giving excuses, if you are in some situations, you simply do not have a choice.

STENON:
so you don't have a certificate or statement of result at all?
Never knew you'd have to vet your partner's certificate or statement of result.. lol. If your husband was working or running a good business before you met him, chances of you asking for certificates is very slim..
Admit, the guy isn't so sharp, but really, it's something that could happen.. Especially if the couple aren't in the same age bracket.. It's safe to assume the woman has always been a housewife/business woman till this point hence the man not really taking cognizance of it.
It is solely the woman's fault here though. 100% I am sure the poster and the sister knows it so no need to go back and forth throwing stones.

My advice: Tell your hubby and try and find another plan.. The hubby coming for Masters while she is the dependent. When he is done, she can then enroll for her own Bsc. Gives you guys more time in the UK. 2 years Msc + 2 years PSW + 3/4 years BSC +2 years PSW=9/10 years in the UK.

All the best!

Please does this apply to any care worker...so caseworkers with agency or directly with the home and not nhs and also their spouse dependent
I believe so, even for agency as long as it is legit. You will be required to input the name of company/agency which should pop up if registered.
Tell them to take the assessment first to see if they qualify.

I think the March 31st start date is key. Cause we swapped in January and didn’t get a refund.
Then once you have worked for six months starting from the date you swapped, you can apply for a refund (assuming the scheme will still be open)
Even students on Tier 4 visa should be able to apply if they work as care worker. If you know you did more that the allowed 20 hours weekly, biko, look left cos your NI will be required.
TravelRe: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by twizzie: 12:56pm On May 11, 2021
If your initial job was with the NHS or health related, then you can claim your refund back starting from March 31st 2020. Ideally, all health workers on a Tier 2 should have gotten an auto refund. That's my understanding. Please check the link below

My brothers and sisters, I need help biko.

NHS jobs is now IHS-free and with reduced visa application fees right?

I am currently on the Slavish tier 2 visa which still have a 2 year validity.

I now have an NHS job (which is IHS-free).
If I switch to health & care visa. Will I receive any refunds for the 2 year IHS that I had paid for the tier-2 visa?

Help needed, please.

Be careful of advice you take from these people living in the UK. Most of them already think like the British and may advise you wrongly.
I'm just curious, in all of this long suffering, how will the man come to the UK? Someone that is still struggling to meet ends meet, you are here advising to still fund his relocation? As what? His mother?, wife? Angel? All because of loneliness or companionship? Loneliness that almost killed her when they were both together? Abi all the single ladies have married finish in Nigeria ni because you are saying it is harder here in the UK? As you have advised her rightly, please help her donate money to bring the man here too so she can start feeding him again..

To the poster, if you are that desperate or love struck, at least let him make the effort! If he really wants to be with you, let him make the move! That will at least show a bit of commitment! Even if the motive is just for him to leave Naija, let him make the move..

It is really sad. very very disturbing.

It depends on your city.
Google, employment agencies in your city, check listed employments on their site.
You can also contact them for available vacancies for immediate employment.

Do same on facebook, they usually post realtime jobs. Always search with your city name.

Best of luck

Hi Lagosismyhome

Can you please share the name of the agency/area?
Also, do you have any recommendations please?

LagosismyHome:
Sister ... you know these are covid times so nobody is smiling . It very frustrating when you keep applying online and not hear anything back so you have to reach out for tips

My family members who came recently kept applying like government work , every minute but never heard back until someone gave them a local agency number. They registered with that agency and within a week started working.... yet online application was over 2 months and no progress

Hi All

Please I need your input on a question.

My aunt applied with her hubby for visit visa, five years. Their last visa was five years visa too.

On picking up, one came with 5years, hers came with 6 months.

None of them has ever overstayed. The longest she stayed was 4 months and the whole 5 years was used like thrice.

We have contacted the DMC and their response was it is the decision of the visa officer. My question is can we get a refund? 6 months visa is 95pounds, 5 years is 655. If yes, how please?

Good discussion on raising up one's children.. That brought me out of my Nairaland hiatus.. I am personally learning on that and I hope to get there.. I do not want my children to be afraid of me cos I sometimes see that fear in them when I raise my voice.. I have stopped spanking because I can't imagine having a run with SS. The spanking sef na smal small abara on the bum but DH and I have agreed not to do that again.

Understand your child and develop the best ways to raise them.
For me, I am trying to train them in the way of the Lord, praying they stay and not depart from it..

It just baffles me that a man will rather believe he evolved from an Ape than believe he was created by a God.. What do I know, Intelligence is rather relative...
TWoods:
You jumped the gun, you should have asked me to clarify my stance first. As is typical of the overly religious Nigerian, you seem to equate "love for god" with ubiquitous using of his name, even when it is not relevant. I do not understand why corrupt people, people who don't prepare in advance, the lazy and those seeking to abuse laws think that god blesses anything they do, as long as they add his name to it. The Bible is clear, God isn't mocked, whatsoever a man does, that shall he reap. I love God... but it's not those that shout lord lord who will enter into the kingdom.

In the very same post by the fellow seeking God for favor for a visa, it is quite obvious many of his proposed visa responses were rehearsed lies. But yet he asks god to bless his labor! Let's be clear, the average Nigerian is about the most religious individual on earth. I guarantee it has zero to do with genuine faith, but a false religiosity borne out of lack and frustration. I'm not impressed by your loud prayers when you need a visa, it's what you do with your faith when no one is watching or when you have all you need that matters most. Good luck.

Been a while I commented though I usually pop in to read and keep myself updated(even though I have no intentions of having another baby..lol)

For people that use agents, not everyone has the time to read up like we do here...I remember begging my cuz just to read Nairaland when she wanted to go for hers..I even offered to help in my way, but she still went ahead to pay D***x* even when everyone knows she comes here for info... For some, it's just pure laziness...
It's their hustle and oyinbo them dey build career on top this thing, so Lady G, abeg leave them...Their money to spend...My own is just that use correct agents..Not all these useless guys that cook up stories when filling your forms.. I once used an agent but my husband insisted we get a copy of d form he filled even though we filled the form together. Just highlight all, copy and paste on Ms word.

I remember you Vavarah...You aren't Nigerian..Indian or Asian... You stayed in Intown abi whats the name of that lodge again...Mamas that stayed there complained how you used to snub them then even though people really helped you on this blog...
Y'all be coming to Nairaland for info, y'all don't give back and y'all come back expecting more info when y'all need more...Kontinu.

Congrats to all mamas and papas...sleepless nights ti take over. hehehe...

The leaky tribe, so sorry ehn, God will replenish your purse...My kid sister once fell for these people..The poor girl had just N150 with her as T.fare and they collected it with her Nokia 1100 phone, plus her BOWEN id card..(Wetin dem wan take that one do) They now told the poor girl to be praying as she was walking.. Na so she walked from secretariat Alausa to Ojodu o.. Good thing you reported to the police already..She should be used as bait for them later on but we know our Naija Force..Very pathetic..

If your phone isn't an I-phone, forget it.. Tried that at walgreens..The format of d pic would not be viewed on their system..Only pics I took with a digital camera and trsfd to my phone came up.
If you have a digital camera, then you are good to go..
KayLayChi:
Yes. Mine was 8 days when I took her to Walgreen, we were there for almost 2 hours cos she was sleeping. I had to use cold water to wake her up.

Another thing you can do which they were telling me to do, if you have a good phone you can take the picture yourself when he is awake and take to Walgreen for them to print but your baby's eyes must be open.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by twizzie: 2:21pm On Oct 26, 2015
Reading aptly opinions from the two sides..It's obvious the pros of sharing info openly greatly outweighs the cons...

I am a beneficiary of Vivian's post.. I was going to stay in NJ and I even got deals which I shared here, but ported one time to MIHS after considering lots of things.. I met many wonderful mamas here (Dinawe even accommodated me the first night in Az before I got my own place)
The truth is even if you PM or post openly, the agents will get these info one way or the other.
So for me to share an info, someone sends a PM, which I will first respond to cos I won't see the message immediately. Then she responds and I will first check his/her profile out before I determine if I want to share my precious info or not.Pray tell by the time One person does this for like five people asking the same thing, won't she be tired? Then I then want to confirm if anyone has Naija reviews of the Doc/hosp, I still can't cos it will be termed advert..So how will I know if to go ahead or not?
The openness of this blog has kept the blog alive..
Popri just got anti-malaria drugs from firsty(God bless her)..Do you think this will have been possible if it's the hush method been practiced..
Same as the lady that wanted for her LO..
We can go on and on and on on the pros.

Part 1 of the thread, just as Phema said, it was easy to spot out the agents when they asked questions.. I remember before the tsunami there was a lady who claimed to share POE experience, then later came back to share Visa testimony...It was glaring she/he was an agent...And she kept asking questions..It's easy to spot someone who is not genuine.. Part 1, I remember vividly people been admonished to be mindful of personal info they shared..
The thread surely won't die, but the whole essence of the thread will be abused..Na to dey share POE/Visa testimony collect offering join..

JW, it's paramount that you review your rules please..Rigidity often times shades objectivity.

In the event that someone is asking questions that has been asked before, kindly ignore...When the person has asked like five times and no-one is answering, he/she will be forced to go back and read...It's simple as ABC.. No need to complicate life/thread by responding with five lines of zero info..

@mamacajah, I do not think that person was referring to you...Cos the way you usually respond, sometimes I wonder if nairaland is paying you...You always tell them politely to go back and read but you will still answer them anyways..

Thanks for your contribution..But like Tobermum has said...This is in no way a competition or comparison with anybody... Why will I even want to? When an almost three year old boy is weighing 11kg, shouldn't a mum be worried? As regards meals packed to school, I said he 'supposedly' finishes... I just trust the teachers that he actually does finish the meals... I hope you don't have a picky eater as a child one day, then you'd know how almost impossible it is not to worry
..
salsera:
I made my comments based on what the OP and a few others said. OP said her son was in the tenth percentile for weight for his age not that he's underweight. That's a bit like me being bothered that my BMI is 18.5 for a healthy BMI range of 18-25. I'm not sick neither do I eat unhealthy so why would I fret.
She also mentioned that his younger brother is almost as fat as him, just because one child is older doesn't the same child should be bigger in weight.

In her initial post it seemed as if her son was not eating beyond fries but even she later on admitted he does eat whatever she put in his lunchbox and by her own admission her son finishes the food. He just doesn't like eating those same meals at home.

My point is that there was really nothing to worry about.
Many times mothers worry based on comparison of their kids to other kids of the same age. That's what I mean by competition.

Maybe I should start inviting his classmates over to dinner..lol...
babythug:
He may enjoy eating only when other children are around.

What kind of meals do you pack for his lunch?

Can you try giving him the same at home?
FamilyRe: What Kind Of Food Can One Give An Under-weight Picky Eater Toddler? by twizzie(op): 4:34pm On Oct 14, 2015
Thanks...He drinks water a lot so at least that is not an issue..Not so fussy about juice either...Six meal though for a working mom in this Lagos? Except one is a super mum o...Will keep at it and Amen to God be with me..Thanks again!
babythug:
Try timing/spacing his meals. Every 3 hours at first.

Give him as many as six(for a start) meals between 7am and 7pm.

Make it small quantity and fuss free.

Once he's eaten at least half of whatever is in the plate, if he starts acting up* take the plate away till the next time round.

Keep at offering variety of meals to him. You just have to keep at it. fry potatoes today, boil the next day, indomie with corned beef, indomie with veggies, jollof rice today, white rice tomorrow with titus fish

Reduce/cut off the juice, stick with milo once in the morning and once in the evening.

Replace juice with water for his meals.

Offer no snacks between meals it will help increase his appetite at meal times

Good luck and God be with you!!!!
