As in!! When I got to the wedding IV and wedding programme, I just imagined the portmanteau u take carry those docs!! Good thing you got it! that's the koko!!

Tvegas: Phema na only you carry all these documents go? grin. Chai VO must give that Visa o . All these information you are sharing, dia riz God ooo. I hope to see you someday to yab you,as our EDD is similar and we are looking at elpaso. I like your free and determined spirit though, Its encouraging. Some people will get their visa here and them no go answer questions again,God is watching all of you.

NB: One thing i have learnt from my visa applications is that you can never overprepare, think like the VO,be honest and block all loopholes. I wish everyone luck.

@BVNO, Still waiting to hear from you as regards the name of the hospital in NJ.. Please help a sister out abeg...Also, is the 6,050 all inclusive?
Congrats Phema and kykes!!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 12:39pm On Aug 25, 2014
Thanks!! Really? Please what's the name of the hospital? Planned on going to MIHS but I have family in NJ and Philly. If I can get a deal like that, then I'd rather stay in NJ cos one still has to factor in local flights and accommodation. Please kindly give their name and contacts.. Thanks!!
BVNO: @ Twizzie....the total cost is $6,050.00
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 8:52am On Aug 25, 2014
Hi BVNO. Can u please tell the hospital you contacted in NJ and how much is their total bill? Thanks!
BVNO: Happy Sunday to you all.

I have gotten correspondence from a doctor in NJ, the bill for delivery in the hospital.

Please do I need to pay the money or commitment before travelling or is the email correspondence with my bank details enough for the interview?

Although we were asked to pay $200 on our first appointment by January and pay the rest after delivery.

Looking forward to your urgent response. Thank you
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 8:49pm On Aug 24, 2014
Yea. Doctoresparati is cool.. They respond asap as well so correspondence with them is easier. You only have to pay $150 before you can get a letter of responsibility from them... She sure can do that..
zeezahbee: you are so funny, I always read this thread but I no too put my mind because I never plan to get belle, there a saying that you can never know it all. anyways have called them and gave them her email and DOB but they haven't anything o. I will keep calling them. but I got a question, can we use another hospital to get the visa and she will go to MIHS later. can gwinett or doctoresaperati give us the appointment confirmation?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 1:02pm On Aug 22, 2014
How far is it from MIHS please?
nefertitiram: It's furnished but doesn't come with beddings and utensils, u have to get those yourself, bt not really a big deal
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 9:15am On Aug 22, 2014
@MrsFad2014, I didn't put that up, I was only mentioned in it by Ifeoluwawa..She later put the number up so check all her post, you should be able to get it..
Mrsfad2014: @ Twizzie. Kindly paste the contact. I will really appreciate it
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 9:11am On Aug 22, 2014
@dserious, please be serious o!!! Lol at rhymes!!! 37 weeks? odikwa risky abeg!! Have you read ibtisam's post? She is currently in Phoenix and she has told everyone not to fly after 34 weeks!!
@zeezabhee, ehen, guru on top student visa thread! a jew here!! hehehehe..I been don dey admire say dis babe sabi o.. me sef sabi pass you on top this matter..hehehehe...Anyways, Oawale has answered you well. Note though that you will only get an appointment with financials. No doctors appointment till you come in person and pay..(They used to give doc's appt before but this is the latest trend). You could try calling them from there maybe they'd give a better response. They will ask her for a time frame for her appt, so her response and their availability of free slots will determine the time..And yes, she should be able to use that for her visa appt, it's better you start early..Make sure she has the accomodation sorted out, a budget(spread sheet) of all expenses to be incurred and correspondences with the hospital. Also, tell her to read this thread from beginning to the end. It will help her.

@freshface, d neferitiam's accommodation is furnished, but you have to come along with your bed covers and cooking utensils.. Checked the place out though and the total for 28 days as from October is $1480, so I really don't see much difference..But if you consider the the free meals, e make sense..

@tokyobulls, Please let her hold some cash..It isn't advisable to get to POE without any cash..Someone has been allowed in on this thread with $1500 while another was sent back even though she had paid half of her hospital bills and still had about $4000(I think) with her; also on this thread.. She is an adult na..she should take at least 7k on her and keep the rest in her cards..Make she no fly Arik sha cos I heard them they pilfer no be small..

MIHS bound moms seems to be increasing by the day! But I think it will be advisable not travel in a pack so as not to attract un-necessary attention to oneself. Imagine having three big belles together..lol...
dserious: And pls which airline can one take if travelling at 37+ weeks
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 5:24pm On Aug 19, 2014
Got the same.. Definitely going with this one! Guess the person in charge was on leave..hehehehe....Sent the mail since last week..
Freshface: So I got this from Abuja:

Thank you for your inquiry. Before you travel to the United States to have a child you should make the appropriate preparations, including an appointment with a healthcare provider, detailed information about where you will receive your medical services, and an estimate of the financial costs. Immigration officials may ask for this information upon your arrival.  Healthcare in the United States is expensive, including costs associated with child birth, and can escalate quickly if there are complications. You are expected to pay all costs associated with the medical services received.  Retain an itemized statement of account from your healthcare provider that outlines all of the charges from your care and receipt of your payment.

We hope this information is helpful to you. Congratulations to you and your family.

Best Regards,

Ok, stumbled on this thread.. here's the weirdest one..

Went for an interview for a pharmaceutical abi na herbal firm...
Got into the MD's office, it was like i walked back into d 90s... Picture frames and award plaques scattered everywhere! There was barely a free space on the wall..

The man(in his 70s) then started by asking personal question like my family background, then education, etc.. After that, he asked me to come to his side and stretch my hand towards him, it was like he was reading my palms..AS he was doing that, I noticed the guy's got a gun attached to his desk...My mind, I was like what the heck am I doing here! After that, he asked me to go to the Hr department where I was told to resume next day..For my mind, I just dey imagine the unimaginable! As I was walking out, the other lady that was interviewed stopped me and asked me how the interview went..Apparently, she had the same experience but she was not told to come back..She was feeling bad about it.. I told her she could take my position cos I wasn't coming back..I'm not that desperate abeg! Make Oga no go vex one day shoot my legs! Abeg, avoid stories that touch..On top sef, the salary was now 35k!! Hell no!!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 10:08am On Aug 19, 2014
Go with your mom.. They expect someone to be there with you to support you all through the process.. From experience, you will be asked why your hubby is not going with you, so giving a response on his non-availability will be augmented by the fact that that's the reason your mom is going with you. Make sure you have enough funds that can support both of you. Get all necessary documents from the hospital backed with your correspondences and for accommodation as well, do your budget and present yourself there. God's favor is with you..
betty1983: Congrats to the new mums and dads.
I'm awaiting your kind advice

Hi peeps, I've been a silent follower for a while. I'm about 12 weeks preggy and hubby and I have decided on El Paso. We've also decided that I travel with my mum, who'll be of great assistance to me, we've also been able to save up enough funds for this project. However, I'm wondering if my mum & I should apply and go for an interview together or should I apply first, get my before and mum does hers thereafter. I intend declaring my true purpose while my mum's purpose would be to assist/support her child before/after delivery. I'm just wondering which option has a higher chance of success, together or one after another. Ofcourse, I know God's favour is the ultimate, but I do need some guidelines please. Thanks all

anonymousmum: My people o!!!

I got a mail from the embassy stating the following -

...Thank you for your email.

There is legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed.
I believe it's a typo. Here's what I got last week from lag consular...

Thank you for your inquiry.
Please note that there is no legal requirement to inform us that you are seeking to give birth in the United States or that your purpose of travel has changed. The Customs and Border Protection, a branch of USCIS, determines a traveler’s eligibility of entry to the U.S, you should be prepared to demonstrate to the immigration officer at the port of entry why you are seeking medical treatment and that you have logistical and financial plans for the treatment.
We recommend that you review the regulations on non-immigrant aliens entering the United States for purposes of childbirth at https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/882/~/visit-the-u.s.-while-pregnant-and-the-risks-involved and plan accordingly. Please you should not stay in the U.S. longer than you are permitted by Customs and Border Protection at the port of entry. The Department of Homeland Security at the port of entry will determine your eligibility to enter the United States on any travel.
If you choose to give birth in the U.S., we advise you to bring evidence of payment, both when you enter the U.S. on this visit, and at your future U.S. visa interviews.

Sincerely,
I sent to both lag and abj, but I haven't gotten anything from abj consular yet

@ifeoluwawa, no one is calling you a "scammer", but it's a general custom here that if you have an information that will be useful, please divulge openly.. Sending you a message just sounds scheming..
As for not seeing you here before, that's a major pointer that you are just here to advertise/ make gain(whether or not you will be helping out) If your first post ever is sending out your email addy for people to contact you privately, then it REALLY IS SUSPICIOUS!

ifeoluwawa: @twizzie n @justwise.....

I think u should think about what been scammed means before generalizing that sending emails or personal contact to get the info anyone needs is scamming. Am not asking anyone to send money to anybody for anything and am sure no one will be as gullible as you think to send money without seeing the services you are been rendered. As for not seeing me on here before, that's not a basis, there is always a first time. And the last time I checked, we are here to share information and not tackle.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 12:08pm On Aug 14, 2014
Yes o! Mod alert!! I have never seen the @ifeoluwawa here before..
Ladies, most of the questions you are asking have been answered here.. Just try and read through all the pages. Fotunately, its just 90 pages now, unfortunately about 150 pages of solid info was wiped off..
Desist from making personal contact with people who post "contact if you need this" line. Most times, they are fraudulent..
A word is enough for the wise..
justwise: Whose email address is that?

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 11:21am On Aug 07, 2014
I guess this will be appreciated if started as a post on it's own. People come here for info on birthing procedure in the USA and pages and pages of "reason" will only take space..IMO, please start another thread for people to air their views... I really don't want to be going through pages of reading why mothers and fathers as well will go through the stress. To each, his own. We live by the consequences of the choices we make!
weaseloo: Hello all,

I have been reading from page 1, unfortunate for the loss of the 150 pages whew. I wonder the wealth of info that was lost. I have found this thread to be amazing. Exactly what I was looking for when I searched.

I will like to ask your views and reasons to this question, I am not being critical or anything like that. Just thinking: why we would want to go through the lot of trouble giving birth in the US?. My fear is just that, like the UK, the Americans can wake up one day with a law that will clamp down on citizens not living in the US, then the heartache would start because our hopes of benefiting in the future will be ended.

I had my first child in the US and am making plans to do it again, so I am not biased.

Would love to hear your opinions.

Thanks.. ( Fear come and be catching me o, but I trust God)

Dear, Thank you for your help. We appreciate your effort, God bless you.
Was able to get through finally yesterday though and I am waiting for their mail for appointment with Fin latest Friday. Mothers, try to be patient
while calling them. You will get through to them in the long run.

Ibtisam24: Dear Moms who send me emails and details for an appointment at MIHS. I tried all ways and my best to get an appointment for you or at least 3 or 4 moms. They did not accept at all even I went to the nurse I told them my friends should book ticket and hotel only after getting an appointment with OB. They said sould be here physically. I am sorry but what to do.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by twizzie: 10:51am On Aug 01, 2014
Yea.. It's not so hard but they just don't pick their calls! The only time they have answered me was to tell me it's still 7 am and they resume by 8..Ok, I waited for more than an hour and called back, they didn't answer. They haven't answered till now hence the reason I am looking for other alternatives...Will keep trying though.
dinawe: Congrats @ Mollydee88.

To all the MIHS Mama's. Booking an appointment with MIHS is not as difficult as we all made it sound. Just make sure you call at the right time, guess most people call when they are asleep. We are 8 hours ahead so apparently, they resume by 4:00pm and close by 11:00pm (naija time).
It's a simple and straight forward process, just give your details, (make sure you confirm that they understood the spelling of your email address), u'll get ur appointment date immediately and later receive an email from them.

Secondly, Air France is so affordable right now, N212,000 (return ticket to New York from Lagos).

Happy New Month to every one and May God Bless and Favor us all. Amen!

mamacajah: For all, I just heard again about a pregnant lady who travelled from Nigeria at 36weeks and went into labour with BA enroute US. She was dropped at Dublin airport where she delivered her baby. Please lets ensure we understand our body system and if possible, travel early to avoid such stories. I too often think of how long i would have to wait if I go before 34weeks but now, I am kinda of sticking to my 32week plan (lol). It is well with all of us. Our plans will succeed and we will come with testimonies.
@ mamacajah, goodness gracious!! I just can't imagine the tension on that flight! The thing is that for working mothers, making that kind of decision will definitely affect the time you get to spend with your baby before you have to resume work...(Except you work with Lagos State Govt sha) Most women who wait it out always consider that (myself included). Will be in the US by my 30th week cos I have a family function and might have to stay back to have my baby.(cost of flying back is too much) but planned going to Arizona by the 38th week o( it's just about 4 hrs flight) to reduce cost of accommodation but I might just move it forward.. Like you prayed, Our plans will succeed and we will come with testimonies in Jesus name.

Yep, There is no way you will be allowed to fly alone with two infants. Have you thought of you flying 18 hours with two infants? How do you want to cope? If you are a first time mom, then you need one or two sef (lol)Your hubby might have to come join you or better still your mom. That way, she will be a helping hand even before the flight back home.

bestie101: hi everyone.
I've been a silent follower before the site was wiped.
pls is there anyone who has had twins in el-paso or is having twins? is the cost different?
plus I won't have anyone to help me when I give birth... sad hope the officer won't use this as an excuse

GenoMI: Hi @twizzie, @ifax

Just to update you that I have just picked my visa up. I was able to use the dropbox process even though my last US visa had expired over 1 year ago. So I can confirm that anyone whose last visa expired no more than 2 years prior to re-applying can use the dropbox method. Thanks for your help.
@GenoMi, congrats! Thanks for sharing..At least I have learned that here. My mom had to go for another interview even though she wanted to renew and the VO told her she could have used the drop box if her visa hadn't expired(it was less than a year). Good thing ifax explained better!
