rvp2018: I think they are different. Ethiopia Industrial parks are gov owned industries - Ethiopia gov get some land and build the warehouses - and then invite manufacturers. I think it doesn't matter if you're exporting or not. It would be similar to KIA - Kenya industrial Estates - which mainly deal with small cottage industries.
Kenya Industrial parks are mainly privately sector driven.
I think the big private ones under development are the likes of Tatu, Infinity, Northland, RiverPearls(Eldoret),Tilisi and such.
Then we have EPZs - biggest being in Athi (built by both public/gov & private sector) - although many private industries can apply and become EPZ - these are industries created mainly for exports - anywhere in the country. There are more than 80 SEZs in Kenya doing around 700M dollars.worth of exports.
Gov plans to do what Ethiopia would be completing the Leather Industrial park in Athi, Naivasha Industrial park and Dongo Kundu one. I am not sure how far the gov should go - maybe just providing the horizontal infrastructure would be good - and private sector - chinese - can come and build the factories.
So while we can learn a lot from Ethiopia public sector driven manufacturing - Ethiopia is a long way from Kenya's private sector manufacturing.
I get the difference They confuse me industrial parks , export processing zones, special economic zones
TayserMahri: Ednited! Thats the OG, see a bunch of Africans reacting to the song unfortunately there was no Ethiopian. Most Ethiopians dont have this OG vibe which is possibly why you dont like it.
Then why were you guys arguing in the 'industrial parks' thing? I found it really hard to believe that it stayed on my mind for long.
Sure Kenya has industrial parks. . .but is it equal or higher than Ethiopia has? (in number)
Ethiopia has more industrial parks than kenya You just launched a new one recently Kenya has export processing zones i dont know if it is the same thing as industrial parks Labour in Ethiopia is cheap that is why industrial parks are developing in ethiopia very fast In kenya labour is a bit expensive
rvp2018: Nigeria paid to qualify for 2010 worldcup. n another interview with Al Jazeera, Perumal confessed to have helped Nigeria qualify for the World Cup in South Africa through his links in the Harambee Stars camp.
He flew to Nairobi a day before Kenya hosted the Super Eagles at Kasarani stadium on November 14, 2009 to seal the deal.
“I’ve got two or three players in the Kenyan team and they’ll ensure Nigeria win on the day … two of them were starting in the match while one was on the bench, I spoke to the players and they agreed to help Nigeria win,” he revealed.
As predicted, Nigeria ran away 3-2 winners to book a ticket to the World Cup in South Africa as group “B” leaders after Mozambique shocked favourites Tunisia 1-0.
ednited: TPLF keeps borrowing money saying for food. . . then to their pocket.
When Tanzania refused, at least the givers know that it hasn't reached the needy. In Ethiopia, TPLF even borrows and throw the money wherever they want to. Now we are going to pay for what they have had
I mean the Tanzanian govt refused to give food aid to citizens who were experiencing food crisis
vaxx: The white are crazy aet of people. do you know most of this whites ladies dates the ghetto boys whenever they came for a visit. you see them hanging out with an ukept ghetto boy smoking weed and smelling bad. And you can't even imagine what they really see in them.
ednited: I knew he had fans in here. I just don't like him.
Did you just shared this pic because I said he has no Kenya vibe?? kikikiki
This man was singing in English while the Rwandan was using his language. Leave alone dressing, because he is a rapper. . . but I just don't see Africa in him
People have different styles Many Kenyan artists sing in Swahili or they local language Anyway it is not a must you like him People have different tastes you know
Kazikazi, say something on this cuz I have always assumed Tanzanian leader as an inspiration because I have heard how he works and cleans the road like a random citizen. Am I mistaken?
What type of dictator is he? So people migrate to avoid the slum behind them
Okay okay let's say it's true. How about Dar es selam? Dar has beautiful figures. . .why not shoot there
He cleaned the road once when he got into power The next thing he did is shooting the opposition leader The guy was in ICU in Nairobi for months Since he came to power Tanzania human rights record has detoriated rapidly There is nothing wrong in shooting a video in a slum It is not must you shoot a video in beautiful places
ednited: Sorry but you guys have this rapper whom I have watched in Coke last year. He is annoying. He did this collabo with Rwandan singer and I didn't like him. He has no Kenya vibe and all. I tried to like him but I couldn't
Forgot his name. . .he is famous tho
Kenya has many mediocre artists i will agree with you
I bet you are talking about khaligraph jones He picks up beefs with everyone
XhosaNostra: I can only take your word since I've never been to Kenya. But here I know it's a thing with most shack dwellers, which is why they catch fires easily.
. Most slums in kenya are made of iron sheets When they burn they burn like hellfire
What type of youth do they think they are making. They are only thinking business but nothing else. It scares me where we are all going
Our culture is spoiled now. Our new artists here are also making some uncomfortable lyrics and inappropriate dressing. And who said you can't get on top with no bling bling?
how I wish many African Artists make a video clip like this rather than focusing on materials. I have heard Tanzanian artists moving to South Africa to make video clips. Some other African Artists move to New York to make clips. But Africa is rich in culture and beautiful landscape. . . let us use it appropriately to introduce our culture like Omarion did to South Africa. And also introduce art with nature
Many artists think flashy cars , skyscrapers Goldchains throwing around money will make they songs sell
mtisTheQubit: have seen that tylann ..some of ths guys pretend to be poor but nah they are loaded...they dont want to get out of the ghetto coz for them its comfortable an stuff an when there is fire break out its all about sherikali saidia ..what a dang
Some of them are poor but most of them are pretenders
mtisTheQubit: i dont get it mresh..you guys are beating us on some key manufacturing sectors (ya alreay manufacturing phones an masses) but ya got ths other side which to me is crazy..i wish i can show you my internet connetion speed..y drop dead..
Those big phones i hear are manufactured in Ethiopia Ethiopia will become a manufacturing hub of Africa very soon
XhosaNostra: No electricity just water for survival. There wouldn't be a point for electricity in places like that because they're temporary dwellings, known here as "Squatter camps"
Kenya slums have electricity And water for survival As you say it
ednited: Competition is always good. When you compete, you will try to get better than the other team.
Ethio telecom is alone! The manager is a very hard working women but I don't care . . .the network sucks. It SUUUUCCCKKKSSS!
I think I am going to start crying. Even the Ethiopian software engineers are having hard time introducing their apps! e-commerce doesn't exist, I dare say!!!
