gallivant: Developed per capita? Never heard of such an index. Abuja lacks all the modern conveniences of a city. For starters there is no central water or sewage system and majority rely heavily on generators for electricity. It's just an organized mess!
surplusk: This is how crazy things are. You may be surprise when you realise that Capetown yet still host one of the largest slum in Africa after Kibera then you get Khayelitsha, Capetown.
yes northern kenya has been marginalized for a long time the government started investing in the region recently new roads have come up , an airport etc
rvp20182: Now you're talking your cities will need more of this. Ethiopia has 4-5 industrial parks - and they are already kicking .arse manufacturing wise.
kenya needs more of textile and cotton industrial parks they are labour intensive they will easily get rid of unemployment
rvp20182: Why are you taking industries to rural places when your cities (for lack of a better word) are teeming with some many unemployed people.
You know my opinion about 1D1F - it political and nothing much will come from it. It will join Ghana legendary list of unnecessary projects. Industrial parks work - building a single factory in middle of nowhere don't.
In Kenya are building one TIVET one constituency to train army of workers that will be employed in industrial park. That will be about 300 TIVET college to add to existing ones as we hope to get 2M enrolled in them.
All the TIVET are equipped with necessary tooling to train the next factory workers.
Mkenya2019: There are many countries that have made extreme poverty history including many in Africa.Relative poverty cannot be eliminated. For example in many developed countries like US anyone earning less than 20k dollars a year is considered poor but definitely they have eliminated extreme poverty (1.9 dollars a day a person).Even a beggar in US can surely ace that. When did Kenya poverty increase when every data has been suggesting drastic drop of poverty.I think now should be well under 30% not far from cooked Ghana 20% despite urbinazation or shanization or whatever you call those mega slumpolis
Mkenya2019: Yes growth rate and less pop growth is great but INFLATION will kill Ghana economy. Inflation adjusted growth is negative. You know about 5yrs ago in 2014 - Ghana claimed to have bigger economy than Kenya - I think around 60B - then it tanked to 49B - and now got cooked back to 70B dollars..but with deteriorating CEDIS - the story will be different again next yar.
i couldnt believe it till i checked it out so in 2014 ghana had a larger economy than kenya
vaxx1: what don't you understand pls? can I know. Nigeria has GDP worth of 440 billion dollar in 2019, morroco has 390 billion in 2019. the former is growing between 2.0 to 1.5. the later is growing between 2.9 to 3.0. now finish the calculation if the trend continue for five years that way.
Mkenya2019: Kenya will remain regional powerhouse - but Rwanda is doing well - and could be Africa's Singpore or Hongkong in 20-30yrs if they keep Kagame for another 20-30 yrs decade.
I have visited Rwanda like every sort of 5yrs interval - and the changes at least in Kigali are noticeable.
Jonraid: Rwanda isn't rosy, you've all been lied to.Kigame is a dictator. Any of the regional economic powerhouses may be the biggest economy in the continent by then!
it is not rosy but it is trying we must applaud kagame for some achievements
mtisTheQubit: Things have learned here.. 1..Kenya is the fifth richest country in Africa. 2.Ghananians are hobbits 3.Kenya is future Ghana 4.Ghana is mini Nigeria 5.Ghanaians are afraid of pictures 6.IMF has a colony in africa 7.vaxx gets his daily feeds from osu shrine 8.Kisumu is better than Accra 9.Ghanaians get emotional when asked to present factual data 10.the way Ghanaians argue, it's like they are related to Nigerians
Austine1212: According to the report, South Africa is still the richest country in Africa, with the high net worth (HNWI) population of 39,200 people holding the most wealth at $649 billion.
This is double that of the second wealthiest African nation, Egypt, where the HNWI population of 16,700 people holds $303 billion.
Egypt is followed by Nigeria ($225 billion), Morocco ($114 billion) and Kenya ($93 billion).
Total wealth held on the continent amounts to US$2.2 trillion. Around US$920 billion (42%) of this is held by HNWIs, New World Wealth said.
this is what i was talking about ghanaians are paupers they claim they are rich while they shop in shacks
TayserMahri: In Africa it applies in very few cases. Per capita in Africa is largely meaningless
that is what i was saying yesterday e.guinea and gabon have high gdp per capita than south africa yet the average south african is way richer than the average person in e.guinea or gabon
