Many graduates still speak and write good english. The issue is that you just have to get your priorities right. You just have to know when and when not to use shorthand. Just because one speaks Pidgin English doesn't mean one should not be able to speak proper English when the need arises. Your friend should consider inviting applicants like me to write a test to show that some of us can still express ourselves.

hackney: Having read some of the comments  on this thread(especially the beginning part), it's quite ironic how poor the tenses are while questions are being asked about the quality of certificates in Nigerian Institutions.
