Good evening everyone,am not the regular guy that comments on everything here but at least I read post and comments a lot here in this section,lemme do a quick intro: am a web developer,my knowledge spans across C#,asp.net core mvc/asp.net mvc,SQL, jQuery,php, bootstrap/MD bootstrap, HTML and CSS.....my question is how do you guys go about the freelancing stuff cos it encourages remote work and gives one more time at least u aren't subjected to work under pressure and pays you more, please I need answers ooooo��� u guys should show me the way mbok..... Nairaland is actually a forum I love so much, after shifting away from Linda ikeji,I have been an active member here for like five years but hardly comment not even in the programming section in which am more active there cos have written somethings there,I discovered the romance section early this year through someone cos he laughs so hilariously whenever he reads comments on this section, at least from my observation this section have lots of comedians,clowns, undergraduates e.t.c, making it a more lively section but actually the romance section talks more about Bleep, pussy,boobs which I don't understand..... Please is this the real essence of this section, although I love the class of people here cos they make me laugh hard whenever am stressed from coding ����

Africa focused tech talent accelerator Andela will cut 400 junior engineers across Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria, CEO Jeremy Johnson told TechCrunch.

The layoffs come as the startup released first time earnings figures indicating it will surpass $50 million in annual revenues for 2019.

Yes, the news seems a bit disjointed. Not everything moves in the same direction in the business of startups.

On the staff cuts, “they are due to market demand for more senior engineering talent,” Andela said in a company release.

“We’ve seen shifts in the market and what our customers are looking for…toward more experienced engineers,” Johnson said on a call.

For those who may not know Andela’s business, the startup’s client-base is over 200 companies around the world that pay for the African developers Andela selects and trains to work on projects.
Founded in 2014, Andela has offices in New York and five African countries: Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, and Egypt. The Series D tech-venture is one of Africa’s most visible (by press volume) and best funded ― backed by $181 million in VC from investors that include the Chan Zuckerberg initiative.

Andela selects a roster of developers each year who come on staff for a salary (similar to a management consulting firm) and are encouraged to continue working and living in their home markets in Africa.

By pre-layoff numbers, Andela had 1575 engineers on board. Big job cuts usually point to financial distress and decreasing demand for a company’s goods or services. That’s not the case with Andela’s personnel move, according to Johnson, who describes the layoffs more as a result of misreading the market.

“We’re actually actively and intensely growing, the mid and senior developer populations and next year we’re going to bring in 500 more developers,” he said.

“We’ve hired more junior developers than we are able to place in remote roles.”

The departing Andela software-engineers will gain severance packages and placement assistance, according to Johnson. The company is working with partners such as CcHub and iHub to connect the developers to new opportunities.

The world as we all know is full of technological advancement in almost all areas of life not only programming,but they have been a serious advancement in tech field especially in the aspect of Technologies surrounding programming languages....I started off learning html,css the hard way from my mentor Redifyn,then moved down to bootstrap and php for back end, during this period some other tech guys were bashing php seriously that what can you build with such a programming language but I found out that most of them even bashing the language couldn't even solve any logical problem with their own programming language they find so much joy in������,I moved on to c# asp.net MVC to lay hands on it and explore it extensiveness I mentioned this programming language because I once bashed it, I was so ignorant then cos I felt so relax and high with php,in essence all programming languages have their own specialty,either for web, mobile or game development.....Most times it boils than to the programmers using the languages on how they can be productive with the respective language of their choice.A user/client will hardly ask you what you are using either for front or back end,just provide the end result..........You can learn the latest programming language while someone with a better knowledge of an unpopular programming language can be more productive than you if you don't understand your latest language....... Thanks

WhatsApp has been banning Android users who are using modified versions of its app like WhatsApp Plus and GBWhatsApp. They have been receiving an in-app notification that their account is temporarily banned. They were being forced to go back to the official WhatsApp version where the Facebook-owned messaging app plans to start ads next year.
The latest version of GBWhatsapp V6.90 based on the official WhatsApp 2.19.17 has brings some cool new features. Top of which is the Anti ban feature and as it’s name suggests, avoid the temporary WhatsApp ban. With the latest update, your account will not be banned by WhatsApp.

Earlier today, the senior Special Assistant to the Governor on grassroot mobilization - Deacon Ndiana-Abasi Nana Udom had an intervention meeting with Professor Eno Ibanga, Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University as regards the case of Miss Joy Nkanang, The VC and the board members took time to explain the case from the beginning and all measures that has been taken so far, he pleaded that the indefinite suspension be reduced to a timeline which the university Don accepted as it will serve as a lesson to other defaulting students.

The recommendations from the disciplinary committee which will meet soon on the case will be announced in a short period of time.Others present at the meeting were the Deputy Vice chancellor(Academics), Bursar, Registrar, University Liberian and Head, Directorate of Information and protocol who happen to be the principal officers of the university community.
Special thanks to the Governor's Aide for taking a step to intervene on this sensitive issue.
