Politics / Shekau: I’m Still In Charge by Uchem1(m): 3:35pm On Aug 17, 2015 |
The leader of the Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, yesterday denied being killed or ousted. He spoke in an audio recording attributed to him by security experts. In the eight-minute message in Hausa language, Shekau denied claims by Chadian leader Idriss Deby that he had been replaced. He called the president a “hypocrite” and a “tyrant”. “It is indeed all over the global media of infidels that I am dead or that I am ill, incapacitated and have lost influence in the affairs of the religion,” he said in the recording released on social media. “It should be understood that this is false. This is indeed a lie. If it were true, my voice wouldn’t have been heard, now that I am speaking.” Deby declared on August 12 that efforts to combat neighbouring Boko Haram jihadists had succeeded in “decapitating” the group and would be wrapped up “by the end of the year”. He told reporters in the capital, N’Djamena, that Boko Haram was no longer led by the fearsome Shekau and that his successor, whom he named as Mahamat Daoud, was open to talks. “Gratitude be to Allah and with his help, I have not disappeared. I am still alive and I am not dead. And I will not die until my time appointed by Allah is up,” Shekau said in the message. The SITE Intelligence Group verified the authenticity of the message, and an AFP correspondent with extensive experience of reporting Boko Haram said it exactly resembled Shekau’s voice in previous recordings. Shekau’s absence from Boko Haram videos in recent months has fuelled speculation that he might have been killed or injured. He has not spoken publicly since he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) group in an audio recording released on March 7. The jihadist commander refers to himself in the new recording for the first time as “leader of the West Africa wing” of IS and pays homage to its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, referring to him as the “Caliph of Muslims”. He taunted President Muhammadu Buhari, who came to power on May 29, vowing to crush Boko Haram and ordered his military chiefs last week to end the insurgency within three months. “This ostentatious person, a liar — I mean Buhari, who raised arms to crush us in three months. You Buhari, why didn’t you say in three years?” Shekau said. “We will certainly fight you by the grace of Allah until we establish Allah’s law everywhere on earth.” Boko Haram has been waging a six-year uprising against Nigeria, which has claimed more than 15,000 lives. The jihadists have repeatedly extended their northeastern insurgency into border areas of Cameroon, Chad and Niger. In recent weeks, suicide bombers, many of them women, have launched attacks on Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad. The four countries and Benin have pledged troops towards a regional 8,700-strong force aimed at ending the insurgency and due to deploy within days. Speculation about Shekau’s condition — and even his true identity — has been rampant in Nigeria for years. The wanted Islamist leader’s whereabouts are unknown, but he has in the past made himself heard whenever he has been proclaimed dead. Some experts and Nigerian security officials insist “Shekau” is a composite character, with different militant fighters stepping into the role at different times. The original Abubakar Shekau — the son of poor farmers, who became radicalised in a series of theological schools before taking over Boko Haram in 2010 — actually died months, or possibly several years ago, according to the security services. But the United States and other experts have questioned the credibility of that claim. “Here I am, alive. I will only die the day Allah takes my breath,” the insurgent leader, who has been sanctioned by the UN Security Council and declared a “global terrorist” by the United States, said in a video released last October. http://thenationonlineng.net/shekau-im-still-in-charge/ |
Education / Candidates Decry High Cost Of JAMB, UTME Scratch Cards by Uchem1(m): 10:43am On Aug 15, 2015 |
The Federal Government has been urged to control the price of scratch cards to prevent marketers from exploiting candidates in the name of selling and printing original JAMB results for candidates . Some candidates told the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) in Keffi , Nasarawa State on Friday that business centres /cyber cafés charged candidates who want to print their JAMB original result between N1800 and N2000 per scratch card. Mr James Usman , who sat for Post Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examinations ( UTME) at Nasarawa State University and College of Education , Akwanga , said the cost of scratch cards was exploitative. “ The university asked all candidates to print original JAMB result from the internet and when we went to cyber cafe, we bought each scratch card for N1500 “ Most of the cyber cafés charged between N200 and 300 for the printing of original JAMB results . So , a total of N1800 is spent on buying and printing of JAMB original results by each candidate. “ For the UTME scratch card, the original amount is N1000 . But why are cyber café operators taking advantage of JAMB ’ s original result demanded by the various institutions to screen UTME candidates to exploit us . “ We bought JAMB form with a lot of money , we bought scratch card to register for JAMB , we bought scratch card to check result , we bought scratch card to register for post UTME and we finally paid money for the post UTME screening to institutions ” , he said . He appealed to the federal government and JAMB to intervene in the cost of admission process to make education affordable to the children of the common people . Another UTME candidate, Mr Isah Abdul, appealed to the management of business centres in the state to be reasonable with their prices when selling post UTME scratch cards “ When I went for post UTME examination and screening at the College of Education , Akwanga , candidates were buying JAMB scratch cards for between N 1800 and N2000 . This is in addition to fees for the printing of original JAMB results . “ This amounts to exploitation and cheating of candidates by business centres /cyber cafe operators. “ They take advantage of the screening and we have no option because without the JAMB original result, one will not be screened’’, he said . Mr Solomon Chukwu , UTME candidate said : “ the federal government/JAMB has to do something to check unnecessary increase in the cost of UTME scratch cards and fees charged by various institutions for the post UTME screening. He said that such measures would not only make education affordable but also reduce the burden on parents towards the education of their children. http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/08/15/candidates-decry-high-cost-of-jamb-utme-scratch-cards/ |

I was with a guy sometime around last year and same method was used on the guy, he was told Julius Berger company is the only company having such goods, that the manager and store keeper has agreed to work with him in the supply, only if he can pay in certain amount. Luckily for him he sort the advice of some persons around and was told to play along and let's see where they were heading to,it got to a point a bank account number was sent to him when the fool thought he has gotten him. And continued calling over and over to know if he has paid in and the deposit slip number. Seems they have insiders in the bank as well. That's why it's Good sometimes to discuss certain things with people 1 Like |
