I didn't even write or use SOP, my case was straight forward sef. SOP is just for extra explanation and most times if its not well written it complicates ur whole application. These pipo getting rejected wit billions in their account, travel histories and family ties... Maybe they wrote a scrappy SOP that made their application look too fake. You have money in ur account, u paid ur fees, u filled the questionnaire on ur reason for choosing Canada, ur travel history is gud, all ur docs are in place, why should I still start explaining myself again with SOP. U people like to argue too much

My point exactly

Hello House,

A friend is on a hot seat , Please urgent advice is needed

He applied for study permit on June 3rd ( paper route )

Got medical mail June 30

Did medical at IOM July 5.

He tracked is application yesterday ( July 22 ) , This is what he was on VFS tracking platform

Your processed passport has been dispatched from the Canada Visa Office ACCRA , on 20/07/2016 to the Canada Visa Application Centre. To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website

Since then he has not gotten any mail to that effect.

Does it mean he has been denied or what or paper route hardly get confirmation mail like online application ?

Kindly assist

Maybe he should try linking the application online. I pray it's an approval. He should also check his spam messages. I have read on nairaland several times that some people get approval mail much later. It is well IJN. Amen

@Uche, you don't need to rub it in anyone's that you have a TRV! What worked for you might not necessarily work for someone else.

I ain't rubbing it in. What does that even mean I just meant it didn't affect my application.

PLEASE and PLEASE in as much as my TRV application is very important to me cos i put so much effort and time to it to ensure a fruitful outcome which everyone here anticipate for such too, doesn't mean i am jobless,i am sponsoring myself too from so much i have saved from my job but everyone wants a better life and i have a plan hinged on this trv which awaits me in canada. I saw ur testimony abt ur trv,so u need not to remind me,from this ur recent statement its obvious you submitted also the irrelevant pages of unwanted questionnaire and you come openly to stand on ur statements saying you see no reason for SOP.hold ur TRV,i no dy snatch am from you.ur God has blessed you

I never said I don't see a reason for SOP. You obviously misunderstood what I wrote. Dude, all these info isn't necessary. I just merely stated that it isn't always necessary, especially for someone with a straight forward case where the questionnaire will suffice.

Hi all..let there be calmness..lemme chip in something. According to www.cic.gc.ca it stated even if you do not need a study permit, you can still apply and write a letter addressing it to the VO why you want to study in canada which it called LOE. Moreover NAIJA checklist has the questionnaire which answers the key points, moreso GHANA checklist has Study Plan as a requirement in their checklist which outlines the key points of where your "study plan" should be revolving..if you are in doubt download Ghana study permit checklist and see study plan as their requirement. So LOE/SOP can be used to clarify some information which a VO might find difficulty in understanding since they don't conduct interview but if you feel ur application is str8 forward you can still do without it. Some people write SOPs and still VO doesn't see consistency on their purpose of visit(intended program), VOs often atimes state on GCMS note that an "applicant has not provided compelling reason for study in Canada or reason for study in canada remains unclear".Does this don't sound to you that SOP is needed even though it wasnt a requirement in our Naija checklist? some are lucky while some are not. TRY TO PLAY SAFE THAN HAD I KNOWN

We are in Nigeria and not Ghana. We have our own checklist. You dont need to complicate issues. I didn't say peeps can't submit SOP. You can if the questionnaire doesn't give you room to explain your purpose of visit but if it does, why waste time on a separate letter. It's simple!!!

I will like to tell you that the fact that u did not submit a S.O.P and you got your TRV does not mean that any other person should not submit. There is someone on this thread who got denied on the fact that he didn't added the statement of purpose and was later denied on "purpose of visit" so please don't discourage people from writing their S.O.P. there are so many things that your S.O.P can contain(not only the reason for choosing the proposed course of study). No offense meant please and please am not out here to attack anyone. Just my own opinion.

Hi. I'm entitled to my opinions and so are you. However, SOP isn't listed as one of the compulsory documents to submit. People have been denied TRVs even after submitting SOPs. If one can prove that his/her purpose of visit is to simply study and not migrate permanently to Canada with the study permit questionnaire, then there is no need for an SOP. The fact that something isn't needed doesn't mean you can't submit it but why repeat yourself. It could be seen as a desperate move. Alot of people fail exams because they provide too many jargons with or without the right answers.

I don't understand what this SOP is actually for. If it is just a letter explaining why you chose your desired course and why you chose to undergo the course in Canada, put these as answers to the questions in the study permit questionnaire. At least that's what I did. I filled every part of the study permit questionnaire and it covers these issues. LOE on the otherhand, in my opinion, should be written when you have a complicated or peculiar application.

Hi pple sorry to draw you guys back...pls what are requirements to apply to visit Canada on holidays..thanks wld appreciate response, pls don't tell to read back. Abeg

Please kindly check the cic website before or after suggestions from here. What people say here is their opinion and may not necessarily reflect the position or requirements of the embassy. The website has the most updated info. You can then add any extra info from others to the primary info and you will be able to distill what's right and what's wrong.

Good luck!

He should contact VFS for what nauu? Hiss application is just a week old and he wants to contact VFS. I know people whose applications are 16th, 17th, 18th weeks here. His application is just a week and he's asking for help. Send a mail to VFS nauu so that they will know that you are desperate to migrate. This precedent we are setting is bad ohhh.. I'm tired of seeing all t
hese. Why not wait until after the processing times?

VFS IS NOT THE EMBASSY AND CANNOT INFLUENCE THE DECISIONS OF ANY EMBASSY OR VISA OFFICER. he can contact vfs to know if his application was transmitted and why he can't see any update in the status of his application on their website. It happened to me, I contacted them and it was rectified. Dude chill, these people are human beings oo. It's not as serious as you think

Hi Uche... My mistake is somewhat similar to hers. Asides admission docs, a separate sheet was issued to the embassy from my sch and it only showed the start date of my program and its duration for two years. On the permit form, I put in the start date as also the end date but with two years difference. Like 13-09-2016 and then 13-09-2018. I don't know if this would be regarded as a mistake and affect it! Can anything be done?

Ask your school for the specific end data. If it doesn't match what you wrote, write to the embassy to rectify the error. We are all prone to making mistakes: man is fallible. IMO its not a big deal

OMG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just noticed i made a mistake on my application ohhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have been trying to link my application online for weeks now but not working......so today i decided to use my application form IMM1294E to cross check while linking my application online then i realized i filled a wrong date for my program start date

Program starts September 6th 2016 ....i filled September 16th 2016

I was able to link my application online with the wrong date.

I hope this won't further delay my application

I'm so worried. How can i correct it?

Send a message about the error to accra.immigrantion.gc.ca. I doubt it will delay your application. I made certain omissions in my own application. All I did was to write to the embassy and attach a copy of the documents I forgot to add. They didn't respond to my email for a week. I sent the embassy a second mail to find out if the documents had been added to my application. I got a message from the embassy the next day that they had been added to my application and the necessary amendments had been made. A week later, my application was approved.
