PoliticsKano Assembly ‘bows To Pressure’, Suspends Probe Of Ganduje by Udantu(op): 5:29pm On Nov 13, 2018
The Kano state house of assembly has stopped investigating allegations that Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state, collected bribe from contractors.

This is in line with a court order. A group known as Lawyers For Sustainable Democracy in Nigeria, had asked the court to compel the assembly to halt the probe.

Ruling on an ex parte application filed by one Muhammad Zubair, national coordinator of the group, A.T Badamasi, a judge, had asked the lawmakers to suspend the probe.

But the assembly vowed not to comply with the order.

Baffa Dan-Agundi, chairman of the committee investigating the issue, had said the court order did not stop the panel from continuing with the investigation.

“We have received a court order that we should stop investigating the video clips showing Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, allegedly collecting bribe,” he said.

“We had a meeting today at the assembly and according to our understanding; the court didn’t stop us from investigating the allegations; the court only said status quo be maintained. As such, we will continue with our work.”

But making a U-turn on Monday, Dan-Agundi told the court that the assembly is a law-abiding arm of government, hence, it would obey the court and suspend all forms of investigation on the case pending the court judgement.

While adjourning the hearing on the matter to Wednesday, Badamasi urged the committee to desist from inviting, questioning, interviewing, examining any person related to the issue.

He also instructed the investigative committee to stop any form of analysis on the bribery videos.

The committee had invited Ganduje, who failed to appear but sent one of his commissioners and Jafar Jafar, publisher of Daily Nigerian, the online platform which leaked the videos.

One of the contractors who levelled allegations against the governor had also agreed to testify at the assembly

PoliticsAPC Guber Candidate In Sokoto Is A Notorious Homosexual, Rapes Young Boys by Udantu(op): 6:33pm On Oct 31, 2018
The political happenings in the Caliphate has taken another dimension as the Sultan and other Clerics are strongly against the candidacy of the All Progressives Congress in Sokoto state, Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu over allegations of Homosexuality.

Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu is currently the Deputy Governor of Sokoto. Aliyu who refused to defect alongside his principal, Governor Aminu Waziri who was the runner up in the just concluded People’s Democratic Party Presidential Primaries is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

LeadersNG gathered that the APC candidate is a chronic homosexual and his candidacy is backed by his alleged homosexual partner ‘Boyfriend’, the former governor of the state, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko popularly called Aluu and this development is not going down well with many political and religious leaders in the state.

A former close aide of Alhaji Aliyu who spoke to LeadersNG said everyone close to the former governor knows that Aliyu is oga’s girlfriend and he recruits young boys for him. He further stated that the APC guber candidate lure young boys into homosexuality with gifts, cars and cash and it is a well known fact in Sokoto state. The sourec also said there are cases of even rape of young boys against the APC candidate which was secretly settled by elders.

LeadersNG understands that the Nigerian law forbids Homosexuality and the bill criminalizes same-sex relationships.

The bill which was passed by the National Assembly and subsequently signed into law by former President Jonathan in 2014 contains penalties of up to 14 years in prison.

The bill bans gay marriage, same-sex and membership of gay rights groups.

In the bill, Persons who enter into a same-sex marriage contract or civil union commit an offence and are each liable on conviction to a term of 14 years in prison.

“Any person who registers, operates or participates in gay clubs, societies and organisations or directly or indirectly makes public show of same-sex amorous relationship in Nigeria commits an offence and shall each be liable on conviction to a term of 10 years in prison.”

Sokoto state is said to be the seat of the Caliphate and is being regarded as the spiritual headquarters of the Islamic faithfuls in Nigeria.

“It is really embarrassing for us to be hearing about disgraceful thing like this in Sokoto. We are known and revered all over the country as people with class, dignity and modesty.” – a member of the Caliphate told LeadersNG correspondent in Sokoto”.

LeadersNG further learnt that the former governor whose political progeny and gay partner is the candidate of APC, is in the habit of recruiting young boys into homosexual activities, a menace that the Caliphate is seriously fighting to curb.

The Sultan LeadersNG learned, has instructed religious leaders in the state to openly condemn and preach against homosexuality in their various mosques and other places of worship and subtly preach against the APC candidate.

It was also gathered that former governor -Wamakko has corrupted so many of the young people in Sokoto state as he buys expensive cars, jewelries and sponsors many on holidays outside the country.

Statistics have shown that Northern Nigeria has the highest rate of Child abuse, sodomy and Homosexuality activities in the entire country. The report says that Politicians and highly placed individuals in Northern Nigeria are largely involved in the illicit behavior that has left many young Northerners hopeless.

You would recall that NAN had reported About some increasing cases of child abuses by unscrupulous homosexual persons in Maiduguri, Borno State Capital.

The residents told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Maiduguri othat the trend was rampant in the recent times and if left unchecked, it would become a norm in the society.

The report further stated that those who commit such delinquent acts on minors and others always get away with their crimes unpunished because of the influence they wield in the society.

“This unpleasant tendency should not be allowed to remain unchecked if we want to live in a decent and tolerable society, where standard ethical norms are being obeyed by all.”

PoliticsJonathan Accepted Defeat In 2015 Due To Imminent Recession — Fashola by Udantu(op):
The Minister for Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said former President Goodluck Johnathan only conceded defeat after the 2015 elections because he knew the nation would witness economic recession soon.

Mr Jonathan, before the announcement of the final results, in a move that shocked many political pundits, conceded defeat to the current president, Muhamadu Buhari, after a keenly contested polls.

That was the first time an incumbent would be losing the top seat (and conceding victory) to an opposition party in Nigeria.

Mr Jonathan has been celebrated globally for his action, which many believe saved the country from political turmoil.

The economy plunged into recession shortly after in 2015. The recession raged in 2016 and through late 2017 when the nation then emerged from it.

However, Mr Fashola, a former governor of Lagos State, said on Thursday at a South-west town hall meeting that Mr Jonathan only relinquished power because he wanted to avoid being at the helm of affairs during the recession.

The meeting was organised by the Minister for Information, Lai Mohammed, and held at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall, opposite University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State.

Mr Fashola at the meeting also said the Goodluck government not only plunged the nation into recession but pushed it into debts.

”What was left behind were massive debts owed to contractors who had not been paid for three to five years and who had laid off thousands of workers and shut down equipment and plants.

”That was one of the reasons why the economy first went into, and, I suspect, one of the reasons they (Goodluck administration) quickly conceded defeat,” Mr Fashola said.

He explained that when the present administration assumed office in 2015, the three ministries previous budget was N19 billion for works, N5 billion for power, and N1.2 billion for housing making a total of N25.2 billion, “as at when the country was selling oil at $100 per barrel in that decade”.

“In 2017, the All Progressive Congress (APC) led administration budget for works was N394 billion; power was N69.96 billion and housing was N64.9 billion (total- N529 billion) and oil price hovered between $40-$60 per barrel.

”Let me start by saying that my ministry is responsible for delivering some of Nigeria’s critical infrastructure for transport, electricity and housing,” he added.

According to him, President Buhari has shown seriousness in providing adequate infrastructure to support the country.

”In a country where the population is growing faster than the infrastructure, the difference between these budgets must tell you that this government is more serious about providing infrastructure to support you.

”Another feature of the difference between these two budget sizes is that the last government was spending less on infrastructure for almost one decade when oil prices stayed at $100 per barrel during that decade. This government is spending more on infrastructure when oil prices largely hovered between $40-$60,” he said.

He urged Nigerians to make the right choices in the next election “either to vote in a government that spends more on infrastructure or a government that spent less on infrastructure”.

”So, if you need more roads, more bridges, more power, more housing and the job opportunities and prosperity that their delivery will bring, your choice in the next election should be easier.

”Don’t go back to a budget of N25.2 billion for infrastructure, move forward with a budget for infrastructure which has grown to N529 billion in 2018.

”So, in making your choice, please consider who is the better manager. The one who did less with more or the one who did more with less.

”Again I urge you to reflect. Do you want to go back to doing less with more, or move forward with doing more with less?”

PoliticsINEC Denies Receiving List From Zamfara APC by Udantu(op): 10:45pm On Oct 21, 2018
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it did not receive any list of candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State.

The commission insisted that since the party failed to conduct its primaries in line with constitutional provisions, it would not field candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

INEC chairman, professor Mahmud Yakubu told The Guardian in Abuja, yesterday, that the Zamfara issue was over.Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Rotimi Lawrence, Yakubu said based on the electoral act, the APC, having failed to do what was expected of it was automatically disqualified from participating in the forthcoming poll.

“I wouldn’t want to comment further on this issue because it is already in court. But as far as the commission is concerned, the issue of Zamfara is over and nothing can be done about it,” he said.
