And he claims to be ONE NIGERIAN?

Amaka don't worry u are at the right place. By the time u are done with NL you'll understand why many of us don't ONE Nigeria phrase. It means nothing coz there is no One Nigeria. The ones that scream it the most are the ones that will remind you that u are not one of em when the time comes.

@Udezue

Darego which you thought means Datego is NOT plausible because Darego is actually Daerego which loosely means 'Reading my father's name'. I don't know what Agbani means but I'll find out.

Da is Kalabari for Father. Just thought I should point out this small error in an otherwise good argument you've drawn up there.
I got you. I was just pointing out another way which Igbos say Darego which is Datego. Not saying that Datego exists in Ijaw language but Darego exists in Igbo but means something totally different as u pointed out. I'm just listing words that are common in both communities but may have different meanings.
To us "Iyama" sounds Igbo but its Ijaw. My relatives from that Bonny / Okrika area dey answer "Iyama". Iyama in an Igbo setting means"To know" or You'll know. Some Igbos will say "Igama" instead of Iyama. I don't know what "IYAMA" means in Ijaw language. Even the word "Okrika" means 2nd hand clothe in Igbo areas. Just showing our commonalities.

Sjeezy, its either you are too slow to grasp the gist of the convo or u are just another stupid non Easterner hell bent on promoting hatred among our gullible people who fall for the nonsense. PLease the man has his identity and can keep it. How the hell am I not respecting his freaking identity. Did I ever tell him to relinquish his identity? Is ND an ethnic or regional identity? Two faced Yoruba fool. One minute you are scolding Easterners for focusing too much on their differences now you are telling me I am not letting him be who he is. The argument started bcoz according to the fool he felt that native Igbos in the South-south should not use the "term" Niger Delta" even though they are in the Niger Delta. Is MEND really an Ijaw or Niger Delta? The last time I checked ND is not exclusively Ijaw. It contains large ethnic groups like Efik-ibibio, Igbo, Urhobo, Ogoni, Isoko, Itsekiri, etc. Going by ur argument we should then tell Movement of the Emancipation of Niger delta to change their name to MEI (Movement of the Emancipation of Ijaw) after all i dont see Calabar, Igbo, Isoko, Urhobo ppl in MEND. The rest of the non ijaw ppl could really care less about that so why should he bitch about Igbo using the term? The name belongs to all people that are native to that region not just Ijaw.

Please don't come back with another worthless argument. You are not even from the South East yet you are so obsessed with us. See ur life. Busy body.
PoliticsRe: 1st Niger Delta Tourism ,cultural Fair And Exhibition. (Ada Ndiigbo) by udezue(op): 7:02pm On Sep 20, 2009
The picture with the Eze releasing the pigeons was supposed to symbolize the freeing of all Niger Delta people from oppression.  Freaking ethnic champions like u in that region won't see anything good in others.

Sjeezy was just describing ppl like you earlier. DAMN SHAME.

While the at it they can add Ogoni language in the currency. Idiots like we don't have abundant languages in naija already. We gotta go Arabic now? The Southerners who fought on the Hausa/Nigeria side should be ashamed of themselves. This is what they wasted their lives and time on. To be dominated by Islamic Arab wanna be terrorist?

Adandiigbo 2008

ada

Welcome To Adandiigbo.com

Adandiigbo, a beauty pageant of the Igbo community which is in the eastern part of Nigeria has transformed itself to the first ever beauty pageant that is unique to the Igbo tribe. This unique pageant is also a celebration of culture and beauty among the “adas” the first daughters. The non swim wear pageant is in line with the igbo tradition that disallows nudity of the first daughters.

Adandiigbo which started in 2004 had since crowned beauty queens of igbo land and have also promoted igbo art and culture. This festival which is celebrated in every year  has attracted dignitaries, sons and daughters of igbo land both in Nigeria and abroad.

Winners of this pageant are given $4,000 (four thousand US Dollars), an official car and one year modeling contract with Jennifer’s signature.

For more Details

that was what i found on the site http://adandiigbo.com/,  i wonder where the interest of the Igbos is now that of the Niger-delta,  like the yorubas do so the igbos,  always want to associate with people u have despised, detested, hated, scorned - treated with contempt,   pls let the Igbos be let we the minors and our major the Ijaws be ,  leave us alone,

this post should have be the 1st eva Igbo tourism, cultural fair and Exibition
not otherwise
Why do people like you love to spew garbage just for the sake of spewing garbage? U talk of  Niger Delta like its some Paris. Biko  be quiet jare. Igbanke, Anioma, Ikwerre, Ekpahia Opobo, Aro, all happen to be native people of states considered Niger Delta. Who give's a rat's ass whether Ijaw na majority there? LMFAOOOOO!!! Before u even go there don't forger we have Efik-Ibibio-Annang-Ekoi-Oron who are same people and are a majority in the Niger-delta. The Igbo groups in Edo, Delta, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwaibom all put together are also a majority so my guy shut up about all that rubbish coz it hasn't improved your situation. Only toddlers like you yip yap about trivial issues like this. The last time I checked even Cross River state officials who are not of Igbo origin were there too. Listen as long as Igbo natives are present in your "little paradise u call ND lol they have a right to use the name and rep it too. Niger-Delta is not an Ijaw or Urhobo, copyrighted word ewu nkapi. I can understand if they said 1st Ijaw,  or Itsekiri but naw they said Niger Delta which is inclusive of all Eastern people not just Ijaw. See how u called Ijaw majority without acknowledging, the vast Igbo, Efik-Ibibio population there who might not be so obsessed with using the name ND but are part and parcel of it and you can't wish em away. You call all the non Ijaw minority? When did u conduct census? Ijaw, Igbo, and Efik-Ibibio ppl are majorities in ND but you'll fail to see that coz you are simply a bigot. Your hate won't let you acknowledge em. So I'm sure people like Achuzia from Delta, Odili-Rivers, Amaechi-Rivers, are not qualified to lead in ND since they are Igbo? Igbos in SS used to act so freaking timid and were intimidated by bigots like you under the likes of Clark, Enahoro but my guy this is 2009 and u can clearly see that they are becoming empowered and no longer feel they have to hide their Igbo identity to be liked by bigots like you. Go tell em they have no rights in their own native region to conduct events, lead in politics where they are qualified to lead and I'm sure you'll regret that.

PoliticsRe: 1st Niger Delta Tourism ,cultural Fair And Exhibition. (Ada Ndiigbo) by udezue(op): 11:10am On Sep 20, 2009
ah ah dis guy you love to  speak yoruba- you must love our style  grin

I have no qualms using Yoruba words when addressing you. Aren't you Yoruba? It doesn't make me less Igbo than I am and I'm sure not a bigot so the use of Yoruba words does no harm to my psyche. I still speak and write in Igbo well but love the word ode which me and my Yoruba friend from Highschool call each other jokenly.

i can careless if its a spanish word, that means plantain
You could careless yet you had something to say. U asked a question and I educated your ignorant behind that's all.

@beaf you see why yorubas group you all together, cause igbos say all of you are the same.
so you guys are the same and have strength in numbers so how can you IGBOS complain about marginilization.
Since igbos clame all of the south south and south east are all brothers and speak in 1 voice.

grin

See there u go again with your ignorance. Typical Yoruba man. U know nothing about other people and make useless generalizations.
No one is saying that Ijaw, Ibibio, Ogoni, even Urhobo, are Igbos or the same people but we have interacted, intermarried and shared so many things that in some towns such as Arochukwu, Ohafia, Abiriba, there are Igbos  or Igbo speaking ppl with Efik-Ibibio surnames. My maternal family people are one of those people. I'm one of em. It doesn't matter what side we fall on we speak Igbo and still cherish the Ibibio heritage / roots. Aro people in Abia and Cross Rivers still do the same Ekpe like Efik-Ibibios. I'm not sure about Aros in Imo, Rivers, and Anambra state.  Plenty Efik-Ibibio are also proud of their Kwa-Igbo heritage.

In Rivers state towns like Opobo, Bonny are a mix of Igbo and Ijaw people. Even Opobo town got history with Annang-Efik people too. My aunt is from that Bonny area and her Igbo dialect is different. Their last name to many people sounds Igbo just like many at 1st thought Agbani Darego was Igbo but its Ijaw. Hell I thought she was after all there is a place in Enugu called Agbani which means Hard work or trying, or in some variation like Ugboani / Agbani means Vehicle. Darego or in some places Datego in Igbo means to win money.
Although Bayelsa is majority Ijaw one cannot deny Igbo presence there either. About 30% of Bayelsa ppl speak or understand Igbo and there are Igbos there too in minority.

In Edo, there are Igbanke people with Bini sounding names but speak there own Igbo dialect and they'll tell you they are Igbo. I know one in Houston.

@post im really confused are they igbo or not
and are igbos ijaw or not?
urhobo and calabar must be igbo to right? huh
if so you guys should be happy you have an igbo vice president in office(goodluck jonathan) since you guys think igbo and ijaw are the same.

LOL Are u this ignorant or do u love playing dumb? The Ada Ndiigbo chicks and the Eze, Chiefs, Amanabo of Opobo are Igbo. If they weren't they won't be doing AdaNdiigbo stuff in their own native region. Why do u care to know? Jonathan Ebere Goodluck is Ijaw at least to majority of us but his name "Ebele" is Igbo hence he actually has Igbo roots. The man is from Bayelsa which has small Igbo population. Ebele
is not the same as Okoro that is used in Ijaw, Urhobo, Isoko and Igbo land so there you go but the man does not speak Igbo. Not that I know of.

Igbo, Efik-Ibibio, Ijaw, Urhobo, Ogoni are not the same but we are more interwoven than we even like to admit. We are simply related to each other. It will be better if we focus on our commonalities not differences for our advantage. Got it?

Sjeezy, They are not Igbo. They are actually eskimos. ODE.

Go to Arochukwu, Akwaibom, Ohafia and tell me if you can tell which is Igbo or Ibibio by attire. We share more than borders with our neighbors hence there are Igbo elements among Ijaw. Do u know Okoro is also an Ijaw word and means the same thing in Igbo?

It seems like all the Ada from Ikwerre, Eche, other places compete and AdaNdiigbo is the highest title to win. Like how Miss Nigeria, China, USA compete for Miss World. Interesting.

Funny how these non Igbo fools start silly threads about Igbos and their origins. Only a fool will say Ikwerre people are not Igbos. I understand Ikwerre more than I understand Afikpo yet no sane Afikpo man will claim he is not Igbo. WTHhuh FYI , the All Igbo church I attend got Ikwerre people and they do not deny being Igbo. Ikwerre is the same as Awka, Nnobi, Arochukwu, Igbanke, etc. Only a dunce or a fool wanting to create hatred among Igbos will promote such stupid lies about the origin of these different Igbo groups. Rivers state does not have Igbo natives yet the AdaNdiigbo title is conducted by native people of Rivers state with Igbo names? Why was the Eze Gbakagbaka, Amayanabo of Opobo, Eze of Ogbaland, etc present if it had nothing to do with them since according to some idiots they are not Igbos. I have Igbo friends of Ikwerre extraction and I don't argue this rubbish with them coz they themselves will tell you they are not ready to spread such stupid lies so the non Igbo should shut up. Rivers state is at least 85% Igbo and there is nothing OW1 or any fool can do to change it.

To OW1, fine they kill us in the all those places including your people since you and I know to them we are all Iyamiri, they also kill you in your own land from ODI, to GBAMATURU so what u gon do about that? Why don't you rescue your people 1st b4 spewing your hateful garbage about Igbos who have done nothing to deserve the type of hatred ppl like you have for them? Peter Odili is not Igbo yet that old bigot Clark had no qualm reminding him that he is Igbo hence is not qualified to lead Niger Delta. When its convenient for u they are Igbo and when its not they are not. Nonsense. Why is BIGOTRY so enshrined in your culture?
