The weekend included an outstanding goalscoring showcase from some of Nigeria’s biggest stars, with Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho both netting, while Franck Kessie and Achraf Hakimi each made a big contribution in wins for AC Milan and Internazionale.
A big performance was required from Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and he duly obliged against Sampdoria.
Nigeria may have struggled to break down Benin away in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in March, but it seems as though no other African team can boast the firepower of the Super Eagles right now.
On Sunday alone, four of the national side’s prominent attacking players were all among the goals in some of Europe’s biggest leagues, which is testament to the quality of offensive options available to Gernot Rohr right now.
Most in need of a big performance, perhaps, was Osimhen, who scored one goal and was influential in another as Napoli defeated Sampdoria 2-0 to boost their UEFA Champions League aspirations.
The 22-year-old, restored to the starting line-up after being benched for the midweek defeat by Juventus, had a point to prove, and he duly responded to his previous omission with arguably his best performance since arriving in Italy.
His goal — a fine right-footed finish after bursting in behind the defence three minutes from full-time after fine work from Dries Mertens — was his third in his past four appearances (and his past three starts) for club and country.
The attacker finally appears to be finding the measure of consistency in front of goal that has previously eluded him since signing for Napoli.

1-A frustrated sidekick to another frustrated ‘beggar with receipt’ has lied that I profited from my #FreeLeahSharibu campaign. If anybody anywhere on Earth has given me a dime on behalf of Leah Sharibu, speak now or forever remain silent
2-I wrote a book, Leah Sharibu: the Girl Boko Haram left behind. Although there is NOTHING wrong if I kept my profit, I did not. I donated EVERY PENNY I made from the book to Leah’s mother, via the Christian Association of Nigeria
3-I made #FreeLeahSharibu T-Shirts with my money. I asked those who bought them to pay DIRECTLY to Leah’s father. If anybody anywhere in the world bought a T-Shirt and paid to me, speak NOW or forever remain silent!
4-You and your fellow beggar with receipt have been used and dumped by General @MBuhari. Face him. Leave me alone. If you can’t help #FreeLeahSharibu, then don’t hurt it with lies. I am not like you guys that go begging @Elrufai at night!
#5-Here is an audio of Leah Sharibu’s father thanking me and acknowledging that these allegations by these frustrated agents of General @MBuhari are false. I urge this frustrated side kick to know that I am not like her ‘beggar with receipt’
6-You and your fellow beggar with receipt are not assisting Leah’s parents. Yet, you are traumatising them by raising false allegations to score political points. Do you have a conscience? Do you know the pain you are causing this family?
7-I have a tough skin. I have faced and defeated stronger opponents than you and your frustrated beggar with receipt. But, think of Leah’s family. Think of the trauma your lies are causing. God won’t hold you guiltless.
8-Finally, I vow to pay ₦50 million to anyone who can produce a shred of evidence that I profited from #FreeLeahSharibu. I‘ve sent my bank statements to @APOSTLESULEMAN to prove I have the money ready!

Lisa4nairaland: Liverpool go a year unbeaten in Premier League
Liverpool maintain 13-point lead at the top of premier league and go a year unbeaten as they beat Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday.
A slice of good fortune enabled the Reds to take an early lead – George Baldock’s slip allowing Andy Robertson to set up Mohamed Salah for a simple close-range finish in just the fourth minute.
But there was nothing fortuitous about their win, which Sadio Mane sealed, finishing at the second attempt after being played in by Salah.
It maintains the Reds’ 13-point advantage at the top of the division after nearest rivals Leicester and Manchester City both won on New Year’s Day.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have dropped just two points from a possible 60 this season, BBC reports.
For Chris Wilder’s side, this was a second successive defeat, but they remain firmly in credit from the first half of their league campaign and sit eighth in the table, just two points off fifth.
