She did the right thing by walking away. It's obvious this guy will make a subpar husband because even from the beginning he's refusing to do the traditional engagement practice of getting on one knee even after his friends encourage him. A proposal of this type is the man ASKING for the woman's hand in marriage. A moment of submission from the man in order to gain a lifetime of submission from the woman. Unfortunately, he's setting the pace for what's to come and she couldn't expect much from him as a husband.

Kneeling may not prove you love her but what is worth doing is worth doing well. The kneeling down aspect of it signifies you are honouring her. If you can't honour her publicly why would you expect her to spend the rest of her life with you?
