sheke01: Even while you try to be optimistic also try to be reasonable.
The press secretary to the US vice president tested positive to Covid 19 last Friday. Panic is high once again. Borders remain closed. Lots of temporary visitors are stuck in the US with no viable way of leaving. Lots of H1B and OPT workers that recently lost their jobs will become illegal by July if something miraculous doesn't happen between now and then and you think what the DHS is thinking right now is how to send their citizens to African countries to reopen their embassies and conduct visa interviews for potential fall semester students and bring them to the country without a vaccine
Please tamper your optimism with actual reality. The impact of Covid 19 is bigger than what you see on the surface You’re analyzing like a Nigerian and not with FACTS!! So people should just cancel their dream of schooling abroad?! The right thing to do is have hope! It’s already getting better because countries are willing to open back their economies with the virus still lingering around! We just have to live with it till we find a permanent solution! State of Florida alone brings in around $40 billion per year from tourism and you think the economy will remain closed because government officials caught the virus? We’ve passed the ‘panic’ phase of the virus! We’re in the take responsibility phase of it! It’s getting better... |

In fact, the world will heal and move on faster than you think! Why? MONEY!!! 987Real: Reapply for what? There is more to life than a B1/B2 visa. B1/B2 visa is not my goal in life or an achievement to me. I am beyond that level. I have gotten B1/B2 visa multiple times so it is not a big deal. I will repeat it again United States of America is the most overrated country on earth. I used to think the United States of America was a perfect place like it is portrayed on T.V until I arrived in Queens, New York City and found homeless people scattered all over the place. Major cities (New York City, Chicago, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C, and Baltimore) are infested with homeless people and that’s what I hate the most about America. It is all a hype. That’s it? Homeless people? That’s why it’s overrated? When you say overrated, compared to what? To your home country? Ha! How old were you when you first visited? So you don’t know that there are people in life that even if you hand them a billion $ and all the opportunities in the world, they will still Bleep it up and find themselves back at the bottom? majority of those people you see made poor personal choices to become homeless! For the rest,America has a working system & it’s train is moving fast! If you don’t get with the program and move as fast! You’ll get left behind i.e homelessness!!! |

You have no reason to come back, you have a wife with a job,a home to stay, you even said you will get married again, nothing much to return back to! No VO will approve your visiting visa under these circumstances! Do you have travel history? |

I was to attend a meeting in the US but due to the Pandemic the meeting has been cancelled till 2021. The interview is slated soon please my question is Should I still proceed for the interview for a visa to be used in 2021 by God’s grace or Cancel to reschedule at a later time since the event for the interview has been moved to next year? Stay safe Everyone Visa fee paid? Appointment scheduled? You have the new date of the event in 2021? If yes then go ahead with the interview and explain the change of date to the VO...b visas are valid for 2 years! Don’t just move with this single comment, wait for others to comment and decide! |

OmoBendel24: Please na, don't say these with such authority. And not even "lately"? Haba!
I have seen a couple of places, the first time I was made to get a yellow card for travel was on a road trip via Seme-Aflao to Ghana, next was a visit to SA, I can't remember any other country requiring same from me even if I believe there'd be more countries requiring it not just lately. But the US, Canada, the UK and Schengen countries I have seen so far have never asked me for it, neither have they asked it of me from the Nigeria end on my way to these countries, not even UAE, and not even Kenya if my memory is serving me right. Hmm! You didn’t read the rest of my comment! Anyway, for North America and Schengen countries you don’t need yellow card but i most definitely presented my yellow card IN ASIA when i did Singapore & China (Flying from lagos, other trips from the US,i wasn’t asked of yellow card)! Not this year or the last so it’s not even about coronavirus issue! I guess it’s for some vaccines...yellow fever or so! I was pointed to a medical office like that for me to hand my yellow card then gave me a slip and directed me to immigration! Up until now i didn’t know yellow card wasn’t compulsory,im now just confirming it from you! I didn’t want to type this openly (But i usually just buy it from the boys hawking it in front of the airport for 1k or so) I just like staying prepared for lagos airport people to avoid their BS! |

Ajibade105: I know this yellow card thing is applicable to those traveling to SA not those trying to US or Canada. I don't know if they started using it for all countries cos of the virus... I’ve never been to SA but i’ve been to Asia etc from the United states! You don’t need yellow card ...stuff like that! But anytime im traveling from lagos,i always have yellow card (Not that it was used in the destination country) And yes,i think i saw a post somewhere that yellow card is now compulsory for travelers to all countries! You shouldn’t worry,it’s not a big deal...it’s not hard to get! You can get it the same day you go for it! And i don’t think it has anything to do with the coronavirus! If you need any kind of medical test result to travel,it wouldn’t be a yellow card! Because during ebola, they were testing people and issuing a little white slip as a test result before you could fly! Personally,i wouldn’t advice traveling anywhere during this time unless it’s super important! |

johnJS: I would appreciate more input from any US consular law experts in the forum on whether or not this rule is applicable to B1/B2 visa applications, if yes then my understanding is that you have to earn a certain percentage about US federal poverty guidelines, TWoods mentioned 125% but the USCIS website actually states 250% in their FAQs as quoted / copied out below: https://www.masslegalservices.org/content/federal-poverty-guidelines-2020 Im not a pro about this visa stuff but i think you're looking too deep into it,People has gotten a visa on 80k salary! When it comes to B1/B2,They don't really care about your money! Their major concern is that you'll return back home after you're done with your conference/holiday whatever! (Ties) As long as you can afford the trip yourself or through a sponsor! You should be fine! Why would you be applying for a visa if you can't afford the trip anyway?! By the way im curious,You've never had a US visa or those previous applications were renewals? Anyway, It's good that you're researching,be curious, investigate and make your application! |

SmartKitty1: LOL! No need to do it in person, machines do it. How do you think so many Nigerian scammers are arrested in US or recently leaving US? The difference is only in who was sent to jail (even found and brought to American Justice from another country, even from Nigeria and confiscated their properties) and the small scammers just left under observation until it is worth it to jail them and get all their money. It's all about money, follow the money. And of course if you stay 1-5 months in US and not working, then no more visa for you. Go to be a fake tourist somewhere else. Stop talking! |

tunlaji: It happened so fast, from what I remember:
VO: Where are you going to? Me: I'm going to New Jersey, I will be staying in a hotel there but New York is where I'm visiting mostly VO: Why do you want to travel there? Me: it's my annual leave so I want to travel for my vacation VO: How long will you be staying? Me: I will be staying for 2 weeks (At this point he runs the questions so fast, he doesn't allow me to finish my explanations) VO: What do you do? Me: I'm a registered civil engineer VO: Are u married? Me: no I'm not married yet VO: Do u have any children? Me: no I don't have yet VO: Have u been to the US before? Me: yes I have, I was there on vacation VO: Why did you stay from June till August? Me: my plans changed so I had to stay longer VO: so what we're you doing for 3 months? VO: if you're gonna lie think of something more intelligent VO: you don't qualify for a visa, try again next time etc. Me: I shook my head in disgust & left Application was decided before you even got there! And why were u disgusted? CBP’s rule is different from the VO’s! Just because you were stamped in for 6 months doesn’t mean you use the whole thing, you’re to use the number of days you filled & mentioned to the VO’s when you got your visa issued...if you want a renewal! By the way,i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this vo seems pissed! Probably wrote a bad review on your profile that might work against your next application! So prepare a very convincing story against your next interview! |

SmartKitty: I speak and write 7 languages, I am not feeling like to impress anybody in this chat forum, I write the way I like. Technical Writing is my forte (I translated and wrote so many books for the Air Force in different languages), not good in a simple chat. Yet Nigerians have a heavy accent and are not good in grammar but I am not complaining, it's OK. Im not against your other opinions on here, but the accent part, who or what makes the American accent the official and acceptable accent of the world? You have yours,we have ours! Before i got used to foreign accents,i could barely hear what people in Asia or North America were saying, but i never complain or think im better because i understand we’re just ‘different’ The amount of people that speaks fluent English in Asia on all of my visits to the continent are countable! All of their English is broken! And since we’re all profiling strangers on here! Lol,if im to profile you! You’re not Nigerian,i picked that up from your previous comments/thought process and definitely not White-American! Probably mexican,European in the United States! |

Isn't that violating the terms of the B1/B2? Is it possible to come up at renewal time? Anonymously ask the embassy first if thats allowed (Play safe, just in case they want to cancel the visa! Lol) describe your situation and ask what the person should do! Then follow whatever they say! Because i’ve seen a guy here that got a b1/b2 visa for tourism! After his visit,he went and used the visa for a clinical rotation in the US! He tried renewing the visa twice and was denied both times! |

With the situation at that embassy right now, I believe Nigerians passport is blacklisted, reason why I said that is the man before me came for renewer and his last visit to US was last year and spend just 10 days, he was denied with no reason, everybody was surprised. You will clearly hear the conversations between applicants and the VO. The few approval is just oju aye lol

That’s why the children of illegal immigrant have over the been given US citizenship even though their parents are illegal. I believe over the next few months things will get clearer. I’m not bothered about the visa application as much as POE. You can get a visa for whatever reason even before you get pregnant. Are we gonna be lying at POE now? Are we reverting to going as early as 5months to conceal the belle so we can enter or does this rule not concern POE? You ladies should avoid revealing your next moves on public forums!
