IMO STATE: ALVAN IKOKU STILL REMAINS UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION

It has come to the knowledge of the peaceful People Imo State the attempt by some people from the State trying to cause commotion and incite the Students against the Government via false rumour.

This time, the rumour being peddled is that :
THE PRESIDENCY HAS REVERSED ALVAN IKOKU UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION BACK TO COLLEGE OF EDUCATION STATUE .

Such an act of wickedness by the rumour mongers made the good Students of the Institution to troop out enmass and marched to Government House, Owerri in a peaceful manner to allay their fear and find out the veracity of the rumour.

The ever responsive Rescue Government of Imo State which is a listening Government was on ground to give them the required attention.

During the address, the SA to the Governor on ICT , Hon. Ik Ogbonna and host of other government officials present calmed the Students down and assured them that there was no iota of truth in the said rumour.

Hon.Ik Ogbonna reminded the Students that the Presidency who is poised for positive change has no time for negative change.

He went ahead to thank the Students for peacefully conducting themselves and did not allow themselves to be manipulated by those who made themselves enemies of the state.

Speaking further,Hon. Ik ogbonna said that he is sure that those behind the rumour will have their faces buried in basket of shame as their plan of triggering a violent Students protest did not work.

He maintained that God will continue to speak for the Government against her adversaries but called on all to be positive and support the government instead of resorting to cheap blackmail.

In a telephone response, the Chief of Staff,Imo State Government, UGWUMBA UCHE NWOSU also sent his words across,confirming that it was an infectious rumour,a handiwork of mischief makers.

Generally, one will ask, is politics of bitterness what we need now in the State?
If this State which is our Ship collapses, it will affect all of us, so why do you alway work to bring it down.

Subject: The Governor's Photograph With President Obama On Digital Billboard Screen & Flex Bill Board Banner

 

The attention of the Imo State Government has been drawn to His Excellency, Governor Rochas Okorocha's photographs with president Barak Obama been shown on the digital billboard screen and flex billboard banner.

 

 

To say the least, the Imo Governor or the state government he superintends did not place the photographs on the referenced screen or billboards, and was not aware or informed of such development, and could not have authorized anybody or any group to do that since it was totally unnecessary.

 

At the level God had placed the Imo Governor even before his becoming governor in 2011, he would not have authorized anybody to begin to advertise or display his photographs with the American President.

 

We had done our investigations and had discovered that some politicians in the state did that and they had done it with good intentions without their knowing the implications since they are not experts in public relations. They had thought that by doing the adverts they were going to impress the governor. And we can understand that.

 

The government has however told them to put a stop to that. The government also wants to use the opportunity offered by this development to demand that any body who wants to do any advert for the governor in any media or publicity outfit should get clearance from designated officials of the government.

 

We appreciate the love of those behind the adverts in question for the governor, but next time, when they intend to do that they should get clearance before going public.

 

We are aware of the fact that Imo people love their governor and do certain things to appreciate him, but they should please be thorough enough, by informing the government to avoid playing into the hands of habitual opponents.

 

It was a good thing that His Excellency, President Mohammadu Buhari in his magnanimity included the Imo governor in his team for the visit to President Obama, but the governor had got to a level that he could not have allowed the adverts in question if informed.

 

So, we take the liberty to call on the general public who had seen or who will see the photographs on the networks in question to discard them. They are not from the Imo State Government.

SUBJECT MATTER: SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS MEET IN OWERRI
South East governors met at the Imo State government House, Owerri on Sunday to deliberate and agree on the way forward for the people and governments of the geo-political zone.
In attendance were the governors of Abia state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, Enugu state, chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanya, Ebonyi state, represented by the deputy governor, Chief Kelechi Igwe and the host governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.  The governor of Anambra state Chief Willy Obiano was absent with governor Okorocha giving the hint that he was unavoidably absent.
The meeting lasted for about three hours, and the Imo State Governor Owelle Okorocha briefed journalists with other governors in attendance.
He said that the South East governors have come to realize the need for them to come together and work in the overall interest of the people of the zone since the period of politics had come and gone and what is now left is service delivery to the people of the area.
They agreed to tackle the issue of insecurity in the South East especially the cases of kidnapping, cultism in schools, baby factories, and other crimes, with the governors agreeing to work towards eradicating such crimes in the zone.
They agreed equally to retain Enugu as their headquarter and they would have South East governors forum office in the state and they also deliberated on the agitations against the Boko Haram prisoners in Anambra state and appealed to the federal government to take a second look at the issue since it is creating a lot of worries.
The governors disowned Radio Biafra that has been on for some time now, and said the Radio in question does not have the endorsement of the South-East governors.  And that the security agencies would do their job.
 
 Governor okorocha also said that the South East governors have resolved to have meeting with Mr President to catalog what the present administration will do for the people of South east zone
The Forum also agreed to promote economic activities in the zone following the economic situation now in Nigeria and how it affects the people of the South East.  And assured that an economic hub would soon be in place and a committee to that effect has been set up and to be chaired by the governor of Abia State.
