PRESS RELEASE
SUBJECT:  IMO GOVERNMENT DENIES OWING WORKERS ELEVEN MONTHS SALARY ARREARS

Some Patriotic Nigerians and Imo citizens in particular have been inundating senior officials of the Imo State Government with phone calls following reports in some reputable National newspapers including the Vanguard, New Telegraph, Guardian among others, that the Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s government is owing workers in the state eleven (11) months salary arrears or thereabout.

The report in question made front page stories of some of the newspapers concerned and as a government, we owe Nigerians the correct information on the workers salary in Imo which is completely opposite of the media reports.  And whatever claim we make in this refutal, we stand to be contradicted.

Again, in all the reports, the source of the story or the source from where the information in the case of Imo state came from was never made clear and that lacuna also heightened our suspicion that those who lost the governorship election in the state in April 2015, must have volunteered such falsehood.  We are not worried about that since we can always state the truth of the matter.  We see the whole report as unfortunate and a deliberate effort to hit at the Rescue Mission government in the state.

The truth is that Imo state government does not owe the civil servants or the teachers who constitute the government workers in the state eleven months salary arrears and not even two months salary arrears.  We are making this claim to be contradicted with verifiable fact.

The Imo state government only owes its civil servants the month of May salary.  Ditto, the teachers in the state.   And the payment for that month is at the verge of being made.  We have decided to make this factual claim on the salaries of the civil servants and teachers in the state so that those behind the report can come out with their own facts to back their claim.

In the case of parastatals, the government has equally be living up to expectations with regard to payment of their salaries expect few of them where the government’s verification panels discovered irritating padding of salaries for non-existent staff and where high-profiled corruption was uncovered.  And the government had for the umpteenth time said it would only pay those in the affected parastatals when the issues in question must have been rectified.

So, it is left for those behind the report with some of them quoting a source from the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, to come out and fault our claims or refutal.  We would like to be faulted on our claim that we are owing the civil servants only the month of May salary and the same development with the teachers.  These are the workers in the state we believe the NLC source quoted in the reports must have talked about.

If the newspapers that wrote the story on the claimed debt of eleven months salary arrears owed the civil servants and teachers in the state discover at the end of the day that we are right in our claims contrary to the reports under reference, we expect that as reputable and widely read tabloids, they would massage us by retracting the report at least for the sake of the heard-earned reputation of the Rescue Mission government in the state.

The government in Imo state with Governor Rochas Okorocha on the driver’s seat shall continue to be truthful and honest about its claims and counter-claims on issues for the sake of history and posterity.

imsuboi:
Please help a brother!

This is a case of broad day light robbery

As is a well known fact, Imo State University doesn't have official school hostels; So everyone stays off campus.

I stay in a lodge around aladimma axis (Imsu's backgate)

Since I moved into this place, there has been a fee that's being paid annually. A fee of 1000 (per head). The fee is being collected by one Aladimma student's alliance

Now, let's do a little math.

See, the funny thing is that aladimma is made up of more than 50 hostels with occupants within the range of 300 to 400(some hostels hold up to 900 students).
So, roughly speaking, aladimma has close to or more than 10000 students.

All these students are expected to pay 1000 to an organization that lacks transparency of any sort.
An organization headed by just one person( chosen by a sham election annually).
An organization that has cultists as it's "task force".

Two things raised my eye brows:

1. the manner at which this "fee" is collected and
2. where the funds go to. (Read on, you'll soon find out)

Manner of collection
a) The special "task force" pastes a hand written notice on each hostel's gate notifying the occupants of their will to collect their fee( in the same manner armed robbers paste hand written notes informing a neighborhood of their impending, inevitable doom).

b) two to three days later; as early as 6:00am( sometimes, 5:00am) the hostels are flooded with touts. Slamming people's doors, threatening to break them down, basically, just tossing threats about; in a bid to get the occupant to open the door.

c) if by chance, you have enough balls of steel and don't open, your room is marked for further harassment.

d) if you do open. They request for a proof of payment. When this isn't available at the time of asking, they FORCE their way into your room and stroll away with whatever they feel like; telling you to come and "redeem" it when you're willing to pay.

It doesn't matter if you're male or female, the treatment is the same.

Where the funds go to

Peripherally, I had always wondered where these funds go to. Till I had a chat with a few of my friends over this issue.

They opened my eyes to the past and present presidents of this sham organization.

They've all bought cars! (I don't mean kabu kabu second hand vehicles). I mean TEAR RUBBER cars!

Apparently, these funds are channelled into one _asshole's pocket, who then pays his boys( I'm sure, quite handsomely).

This has got to stop! Please who do I report to? Imo State Uni has got no Student Union Government( Rochas scrapped it last year)

Help! This is broad day light robbery!

MEET THE CHIEF OF STAFF

IMO STATE GOVERNMENT HOUSE

HON.UCHE NWOSU, B.Sc URP, FCIA, MNITP,

The name Hon.Uche Nwosu rings a bell where ever it is being mentioned. The reason is not because he is the richest . It is all about HUMILITY and LOYALTY to core.
Hon. Uche Nwosu whose parents are Rev, Daniel Nwaobi Nwosu (late) and Mrs Jemaimah Nwosu is a native of Umunwokwe Village, Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre L.G.A, Imo –State, a graduate of Imo State University Owerri where he studied Urban and Regional planning. With dint of handwork, he excellently bagged the award of Bachelors of Science Degree ( B.Sc).
LEADERSHIP CALL
Leaders are born and not made. Leadership especially quality Leadership is not based on body height, body size, background, age etc but purely based on calling.
Hon. Uche Nwosu, the son of a Church Catechist embraced the word of God because he grabbed the fact that ‘THE FEAR OF GOD IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM’ (Prv. 9:10 , PS 111:10)
As a potential Leader and on the basis of allowing the Institution pass through him, he was involved in Student Leadership and served in various Offices of high responsibility with excellence and fairness. His active role in Student Union Government politics of Imo State University culminated in his being elected into various offices. Most of them are won with little or no opposition owing to his high value of credibility and competence.
They include:
Elected the very first Students Union Government Director of Transport,
Secretary, Student Union Government Caretaker Committee.
Secretary, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Imo State Chapter
Director of Mobilization, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

We all have destinies and it is God’s intention that our destinies be fulfilled but sometimes God uses fellow human beings to deliver this mandate against all odds. It is not always rosy but many people especially the Youths fall out of their Guardian Angel because of lack of patience, hope, belief, perseverance, endurance and sacrifice. Above all is Lack of humility and being steadfast to God by continuously trusting him.
In the case of Hon. Uche Nwosu, he never misused any opportunity that came before him. He remained a humble and confidant servant to his superiors. These endeared him to their hearts. This noble, cordial and mutual with great show of concern and love he maintained and it became part of him.

Outside the regular job at Rochas Foundation, Hon Uche Nwosu developed competence and capacity in Real Estate, Aviation, Consultancy and Human Management. He has also undergone several professional training in Town Planning, Estate Management, Human Resources Development, Corporate Governance, Intelligence and Security among many others.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administrators.

MORE LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
With the election victory of the last hotly contested election in the history of Nigeria where a sitting Governor Chief Ikedi Ohakim was voted out by the people of the State (Imo) and installed Chief Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Hon Uche Nwosu, having proved his onions in quality and competent Leadership of purpose, has served and is still serving in various strategic positions.

Hon Uche Nwosu became the Deputy Chief of Staff (operation) in June 2011.
Commissioner for Lands, Survey, Urban Planning
Commissioner for Lands, Survey, Housing and Urban Planning in April 2012
Commissioner for Lands, Survey & Urban Planning
Deputy Chief of Staff ( Admin) 2014
Chief of staff, Imo State Government 2015 till Date

It is of great interest to note that all these appointments came as a result of competence, a square peg in a square hole.
For instance, in Ministry of Lands, Survey and Urban planning, Hon. Uche Nwosu has dwarfed the achievements of past commissioners of the Ministry by way of making landmark achievements and transformations. Just as his master believed in him and gave him the enabling encouragements which made him to bring out all his potential, he was able to achieve the whole lot because of his laudable leadership per excellence.
Hon. Uche Nwosu redeployment to Ministry came at a time the image and rating of the Ministry was in a very deplorable State. The place was akin to a beehive of activities for land racketeering and malfeasance. Some staff and their agents engaged in the illegal trade in land. The staff had low moral, and some engaged in personal ventures at the detriment of government business. Every thing looked impossible and difficult.
On his arrival at the Ministry, just like an astitute administrator the young dynamic commissioner sounded it clear that it would not be business as usual and called for the cooperation of all to achieve the Rescue Mission Agenda of the present administration. He assured them that their welfare and entitlements would be uppermost in his mind.
In about a year of being on the saddle, Nwosu has achieved the following:
Introduced transparency in the allocation of land and the elimination of sharp practices.
Opening of layouts which ensure that allotees can develop their land without hindrance.
Payment of compensation to original land owners. This has reduced and diffused the tensed situation he met arising from protest from land owners crying for compensation. He has been able to clear the backlog of claims inherited from past administrations.
Renovation and reactivating the Zonal Offices of the ministry which was in a parlous state.
Provision of office furniture and work tools to staff of the ministry.
RISE TO FAME
In all these, Hon. Uche Nwosu has remained humble and loyal. He has never allowed hat others will call success to bow him up. He has maintained his status quo of simple and humble UCHE NWOSU till now, a situation some youths will use as abuse, oppressing others and being nuisance to the society.
It is clear that hon. Uche Nwosu climbed the ladder of life to where he is now. He didn’t believe is using fast lane unlike so many youths of today. Just like the biblical injunction, Hon. Uche Nwosu humbled himself and that is why God lifted him up.

One good thing about him is that he shares whatever he has with people no matter how small. He can even deny himself in other to reach out to people unlike the common selfish practice by people who forgot their humble beginning once they have a lift in comfort. Before the peoples’ glare, it is as if he is a billionaire. The question is : Is Hon. Uche Nwosu the wealthiest man in Imo State? The answer is NO. The issue here and the mark of difference is that he shares whatever he has with people in need. He hates seeing people in difficulty and never spares a second in responding to peoples’ plight once he can.

TITLES AND AWARDS
Hon. Uche Nwosu has received so many titles and Award both various Groups, Communities, Churches, Societies, Unions etc. They include:
TITLES
1. Ugwumba 1 of Eziama Obaire, Nkwerre L.G.A
2. Ugwumba Gburugburu 1 of Umuna, Orlu L.G.A
