IMO COMMUNITIES WILL SOON ACCESS LOANS TO KICK-START ‘ONE COMMUNITY, ONE FACTORY PROJECT’ The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has said that communities in the state will soon access soft loans that have been made available by the state government to kick-start the,’ One Community, One Factory Project’ as part of measures by his administration to boost industrial activities in the State, create wealth, tackle poverty and provide jobs for the people of the State. Governor Rochas Okorocha disclosed this during an interactive meeting he held with some core industrialists, investors and business operators in Imo state at the Imo state Trade and Investment Centre in Owerri. The Governor who reaffirmed his determination to actualize his administration’s policy of Factory, factory, factory; Industry, Industry, Industry and Job, Job, Job, assured investors and business operators in the state that the state government would always do the needful by providing necessary infrastructure that would make their businesses succeed. According to the Governor, the sum of five billion naira had been deposited with the Imo State Micro Finance Bank for communities in the state to access, adding that these communities can access the loans at 7% interest rate for one community. He said that some of these communities are not viable hence the need to merge the unviable ones for better result. He pointed out that the community based enterprise development strategy will succeed because every community in the state is blessed with one natural resources or the other which can be harnessed to create wealth, pointing out that what is required is good leadership with the right vision and passion to succeed. He further said his desire was to raise leaders in businesses and captains of industries not mere business managers. He called on all Imolites to shun partisan politics, de-emphasize primitive accumulation of wealth and rise up to the challenge so that posterity will not judge them harshly. Contuning, Owelle Rochas Okorocha stated that with the shortfall in oil prices the nation is facing now and which has affected her economy, the door of industrialization must open. He added that people should therefore key into this programme and see it as another window of opportunity to crate wealth and free themselves from the shackles of poverty, pointing out that all hands should be on deck to ensure rapid industrialization of the state instead waiting for monthly Federal allocation. In an interactive session, the participants pledged to partner with the state government to ensure rapid industrialization of the state. They however, called for an industrial blueprint and the need for communities to form co-operatives, identity their projects, list their needs and prepare detailed proposals before approaching the bank for the loans. GOVERNOR OKOROCHA, IMO GOVERNMENT, COMMEND APPEAL COURT, CONGRATULATE HON. IHEDIOHA FOR HIS EFFORT The Imo state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the Imo State Government have received with joy the Judgment of the Appeal Court which struck out the appeal filed by the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha challenging the earlier ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal that sat in Owerri, which dismissed his petition against the victory of the Governor in the 2015 governorship election, for lack of merit. In all these, the governor and the Rescue Mission Government in the state wish to sincerely commend the Appeal Court that handled the appeal matter for also upholding the ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal and striking out the appeal also for lack of merit. By doing that, the Appeal Court had equally justified the governor’s stiff confidence in the ability and readiness of the Judiciary to uphold Justice and also respect the popular and lawful actions of the people over who would govern them at any given time. His Excellency has always exercised reasonable regard for Hon. Ihedioha and would stop at nothing to commend his effort and apparent desire to govern the state, which he is entitled to, as a bonafide son of the state. It is also worth stating that all HON. Ihedioha’s legal actions with regard to the 2015 governorship election, were all designed to help in strengthening our democracy. The governor also commends the legal team of Hon. Ihedioha led by a highly reputable lawyer, Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN) for their exemplary outing right from the tribunal to the Appeal Court. However, having lost at the Election Petition Tribunal earlier before now and having also lost at the Appeal Court this time, the governor has no option than to sincerely appeal to Hon. Ihedioha to allow the litigations over the governorship election of 2015 to stop at this level in the interest of the state and her people. The governor calls on the PDP candidate to join hands with him and other well meaning Imo indigenes to work for the rapid development of the state, and luckily enough, the Rescue Mission government in the state has already set the ball rolling. It is the wish of the governor that the issue of who won or who lost the 2015 election in the state should be kept behind, while all Imo people irrespective of their political affiliations should be part of the administration, one way or the other and all aimed at building a state of our collective dream. To the governor, both the election victory and the legal victories are for Imo people and not for any individual. The governor is just a tool in the hand of God to ensure that the state remains on the fast lane of development and growth. Above all, the governor remains grateful to God Almighty for seeing him through all these. He also remains thankful to Imo people for always being behind him and assured that he would continue to work in their overall interest. He asked them not to relent in their regular prayers for him and his administration. Sam Onwuemeodo Chief Press Secretary to the Governor |

APC GOVERNORS’ FORUM CONDOLES BORNO STATE GOVERNOR OVER THE DEATH OF HIS DEPUTY Imo State Governor and the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Governors’ Forum, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, on behalf of the APC governors extends his heartfelt condolences to their colleague, the Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima over the shocking death of his deputy, Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha. The news of the death of Alhaji Mustpha came to him as a rude shock, because nobody would have expected the death of the gentle deputy-governor at this time, especially when the good people of Borno State in particular and Nigerians in general had wished to reap from his wealth of experience in the current dispensation. The APC governors would stand by the Borno State governor in this moment of grief, and would also wish to ask the governor to see the demise of his deputy as an act of Allah because if that was not the case, the deputy-governor would have remained alive. The Imo State Governor prays on behalf of all the APC governors that the Almighty God would grant the Borno State Governor, Alhaji Shettima, the people of Borno State and all those the late deputy governor left behind to mourn him, all they need to bear with the irreparable loss, while praying to Allah to grant the soul of the late deputy-governor eternal peace.
